With Cell using new techniques that his “cells” don’t allow for, I would say he only uses them after they’re used against him. So I believe it’s likely his Saiyan cells allowing him to quickly learn and replicate a technique after seeing it

It's never stated that the humans weren't part of Cell's makeup. And it's stated when Cell first starts to show up that the fighters can sense multiple characters somewhere all in one place even though those characters are right there. During the fight against Piccolo namely. After all Gero would have definitely taken the DNA of anyone who ever beat Goku along the way, which would include Tien. After all, if they beat Goku once there stands to reason that had something or some potential that would assist the "perfect being." But in regards to the original comment, that's probably how Cell picked up the Instant Transmission. Once Goku used it to move Cell himself, he was able to replicate it.

imagine if Cell actually had the cells of Ginyu and so he could use the "Body Change" ability of Ginyu, he would have definitely used it to change his semi-perfect form with SSJ2 Gohan (instead of blowing himself up trying to destroy the planet), and even if his power level would drop by a lot and Cell would be far weaker than SSJ2 Gohan because he wouldn't know how to use the full power of the body of Gohan initially, he maybe would still have a chance to defeat the other weakened Z-fighters anyway at that point? Then after defeating them, if he really didn't like to stay inside the body of Gohan (despite Cell could be smart enough to realise that if he had trained for a while inside a SSJ2 body, he eventually would have been able to become stronger than he was in his perfect form), he could have changed his body back with Gohan inside his semi-perfect body again (damaging the body of Gohan a lot before the change just like Ginyu did with Goku), then Cell could have just reabsorbed 18 getting back his perfect form in that way

Piccolo, Frieza, King Cold, Goku, Vegeta for sure. Wikipedia mentions that he has DNA of Gohan, Krillin, Tien, Yamcha and even Trunks. Even though it’s not written on any Wikipedia, Cell also mentioned having Nappa’s DNA too. My headcanon is that the manga is a different verse altogether where he only has the DNA of those 5 fighters but the anime has everyone’s DNA

@Alienldr Probably the same reason he didn't use instant transmission until the end of the arc. They were both recently taught techniques with incomplete data incorporated into Cell's memory. He needed to see it used more to complete the "training." Instant transmission was used frequently in front of Cell as opposed to the Kaioken, which was not at all if memory serves.

I was always confused whether he had Cells from Raditz, Nappa and Gohan or not. Also I had always assumed cells from Krillin and Tien were taken but it seems the manga never confirms that either. But I do remember in the anime a line from Tien saying something like how he hates that his cells are helping that monster attack his friends.

I like it better that way since there's no reason to take DNA from all those other organizism, but ignore all those fighters. Nothing ever said he only took from these 5. Yeah the original English dub definitely caused a lot of confusion about this topic. Because I remember Cell in one episode saying that other people like Nappa and Gohan were also integrated in his design. But in most episodes they mention that it’s only Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Frieza and King Cold. And to add on to this conflict, Cell knows techniques that are not apart of the main 5 he is composed of. Like the Solar Flare, which comes from Tien. And of course, the Cell Juniors were capable of using the Tri-Beam, which only Tien uses. I just assume that Cell was “programmed” to know these techniques. Since he was of course built by a computer. Techniques don’t really come from genes, you have to learn them. And Dr. Gero himself has knowledge of Goku’s techniques, thanks to his spy bots. So I guess make sense

The premise of using techniques to determine lineage is flawed. Techniques don't transfer via linesge. 2 points to highlight this: 1. What was omitted is the COMBAT DATA Gero had amassed that Cell had access to. Hence "knowing" their techniques. Regeneration is inherited from Piccolo - techniques are learned from data. 2. Cell is a fighting prodigy and likely has more data/influence from Goku than anyone (all androids were tailored to primarily outperform him). Goku learned the Kamehameha after seeing it once. Cell Jrs. used tri-beam after Cell was hit with repeated tri-beams in his second form. Hence, they likely picked it up from data and fighting acumen, not lineage.

I think he was originally constructed using bug and human DNA for his basic form. The other fighter's DNA was added to give him stronger abilities.He took all the best abilities from each fighter and grafted them into a Cell, kind of like how scientists made goats that could create spider silk.

When did the spybot stop collecting data in cell's original timeline? The spy bot was there to see piccolo and cell fight in the present, so could it have been around as long or longer from cell's timeline? When he talks about trunks, he could have meant trunks as he was growing up. Not just trunks who went back in time to fight frieza and king cold. So there may be no plot hole based on if the spy bot continued to collect data after the android attack or not

When you search up things about Cell, it actually says that Super Perfect Cell was actually Super Saiyan 2 Cell and that Cell can just regenerate from a single cell. It would be cool if Cell comes back and does something like he cuts off an arm or a finger and hides that so that if he is killed again that severed body part will regrow and reconstitute his body and make Cell again, a little like some worms or star fish where you cut off a piece of them and that piece grows into its own separate duplicate. It wouldn't be that much of a stretch if Cell could regenerate from a single cell.

I wonder what it even means for Cell to have these cells? As a kid I used to to think it meant he was some sort of genetic cut-and-paste thing or a chimera with the cells grown together. But as an adult I'm wondering how much sense that makes. Gero would have to be really lucky that at least three alien species were made of compatible stuff and that it wasn't just the Namekian cells that grew back. Not to mention how Cell Max was seemingly created without collecting new samples. Lately, I'm thinking that the Cells and/or DNA aren't actually in Cell but merely provided the necessary data and that Cell himself is basically all artificial matter, kinda like Replicants in Blade Runner or a super advanced T-1000, a robot so advanced you can't tell it apart from a real life form even under microscope.

Well I think Cell said that the computer chose what cells would be dominant. I think his main biology is of Frieza and his father due to the jewel in his head and chest, tail, height maybe a cross between Piccolo and Frieza Father, the ability to transform. All these is more apparent in his other transformations especially in his perfect form. In his perfect from he looks like someone of the Frieza race. This would mean he has their mutant DNA since Frieza and his father are mutants of their race. So that along with now mutated Namekian DNA would explain why his healing abilities are far better than that Piccolo’s. He also can breathe in outer space and hard to kill like Frieza. His personality is at least %80 of Frieza and his father, reason being is because Vegeta was raised by Frieza and that’s where Vegeta got most of his mentality from so we can clearly see he got most of his personality from the Frieza’s clan. Him wanting to test out his perfect form by wanting to look for a worthy foe and zenkia boost comes from Sayians. Yes he must have some cicadas mixed in there somewhere as well just to be able to hibernate.

Its also possible cell was a created as a creature on its own without anyone's dna, but just with the ability to absorb people. And the computer was tasked with slowly cloning the cells of all these characters, and then feeding them to baby cell one at a time. Basically we see him after he's absorbed Goku, Vegeta, piccolo, freeza and king cols.

Cell is one of the best villains. Top 3 easily. If they ever re-did a Cell Saga type of thing... If I were to make Dragon Ball and I were to remake a Cell based era, this is what I would do -- Plot: The wish that Android 17 made at the end of the Tournament of Power was also traced back to Future Trunk's timeline since Future Zeno was there and helped whip out universes, so the wish is tracked back to Future Trunk's timeline and that brings back Goku Black/Zamasu, and Zamasu can either stay in that timeline because there is no Zeno there and no Gods of Destruction or Kais so he has free range over all of that, but his essence and influence will ripple throughout the timelines like it did in the anime, so everyone including Zeno would come after him anyway, so Zamasu wants to ensure that he is the only god and one above everyone else, and he wants revenge on Goku and Future Trunks and them, and so Zamasu cracks the time travel essence with the Time Ring so he can travel to the past and parallel timelines as well as the future, so then Zamasu goes around different points in time and changes things and you have these alternate timelines that come about because of changes in events like "What if Frieza defeated Goku on Namek?" And "What if Goku achieved Super Saiyan earlier?" And "What if Goku went with Raditz?" And "What if Cell defeated Gohan?" All sorts of stories that we could see unfold in these parallel timelines, and out of all of those alternate timelines that come about Zamasu goes around and recruits alternate versions of himself who agree with his philosophies, and each Zamasu will have some different get up, some will have Goku's body, some will have Gohan's body, some will have Vegeta's body, some will have Trunk's body, some will have Broly's body, some will have Android 17's body, some will have Dabura's body, and some will just be immortal Zamasus, some even have Super Saiyan 4 transformations, and this army of Zamasus will go around eliminating everything and everyone, all of the mortals and all of the gods and everyone so that he can reign supreme, and due to some high time travel shenanigans Zamasu attacking Earth actually released Majin buu and a version of Zamasu that doesn't share the corrupted Zamasus' views aims to stop him and he meets Majin Buu in Future Trunk's timeline and he makes a deal with him to help him in exchange for sweets or something with him being all child-like and they gather the fragments of the Super Dragon Balls in Future Trunk's timeline and with Majin Buu's matter manipulation and transmotification Buu actually puts the Super Dragon Balls back together and that Zamasu wishes for all of the mortals and gods to return, that brings back all of the Future Z-Fighters, but that brings back the future androids and future Cell, future Babbidi and Dabura, and the corrupted Zamasus catch on to the other Zamasu and so they kill him and go arond killing everyone again because they feel like it would be fun to repeat the process, and he kills Future Android 17 and 18 because he is disgusted by their creation and that some mortal would play god in creating life and things like that, and the Zamasus, they all use the potara fusion with all of them and it is "Multi-merged-Zamasu" where he is huge, way more buff and taller than Broly, long hair with strands coming out like Super Saiyan grade 3 Trunks, and he has white fur all over him, a white furry saiyan tail, green skin, and black pants with white boots and some other Kai like attire that goes on him, but shows his chest and back, and he has all of that Saiyan strength and potential with Gohan and Broly and them whose bodies he stole, but also with Android 17's stolen body he also has unlimited energy and stamina, and with Dabura's body he has some magic and can turn people into stone with his spit and manifest real weapons and ki weapons and different things like that, so he is mega powerful, and with the Super Dragon Balls around and active again he uses that to his advantage and Multi-merged-Zamasu goes into the future and makes a wish where he wishes for Super Shenron to merge with him and that way he can counter Zeno's erasure since Super Shenron can do that, so he is a major threat, but the good Zamasu managed to send Majin Buu away to get away from the other Zamasus before they got to the good one, and with Babbidi and Dabura and Cell back, so Cell, being a kind of smart individual he sees what is going on and he decides to lay low playing on everyone thinking that he is dead, and he uses everyone's attention on Zamasu to his advantage and he meets up with Future Babbidi and Dabura and make a deal with them, so they agree to work together and they find future Majin buu and Babbidi makes him obey him by threatening to seal him back in a ball, and Cell is the master mind and with their deal they agree to follow his lead, but only if thy get what they want, and future Cell makes plays like the time traveling Future Trunks and Goku and Vegeta even Hit and Jiren and all of the gods and angels and others they come through time to fight Zamasu because with Zamasu going around different timelines and whipping everybody and everything out it is a state of emergency type of deal where Zeno has everyone join into take down Zamasu, and the Zenos themselves arrive to try and take down and erase Zamasu, but because if his merger with Super Shenron he cannot, but Future Cell uses these various opportunities and he takes DNA from Babbidi, Dabura, Goku, Vegeta, Future Trunks, all of the Zamasus before they fuse and when they fuse into Multi-merged-Zamasu and he also gets DNA from Vegito and/or Gogeta who merge to fight Multi-merged-Zamasu or hold him off, and he also get DNA from Beerus, Whis, Champa, and Vados, other fighters and other gods and other angels who have not been killed or taken out of commission by Zamasu, even getting DNA from the Zenos themselves, and while everyone is distracted fighting Zamasu Future Cell gathers the Future Dragon Balls and summons Future Shenron and he makes a wish to have all of the DNA that he collected be instantly integrated into his design as it did with the computer that made him, and Shenron grants that wish and so Future Cell would be mega powerful, up there on angelic godly levels even surpassing Zeno himself, and his design changes where he is much bigger and taller, he has a double crest on his head, (like a second crest behind the first one), he has four arms, a little more insect like, and he tail has two glowing pink spikes on top of where the stinger is, he is green with pink spots now, and he has pink lines going down his back and his wings, as he gets back to the main present timeline and they all go through Cell again, because even if he is stronger than everyone he still wants to absorbe Android 17 and 18 because he wants to complete his design, but with all of his upgrades he is too much, with the angels, the gods, Zeno himself, and with Babbidi and Dabura apart of him he also knows magic, but he is too much of everyone, but since Android 18 is mostly around she is actually absorbed first and that concept is played around with like if Cell absorbed Android 18 first, by taking her daughter and threatening to kill her if she doesn't submit, and he would have a different design and then he goes to Android 17's island and tries to lure him by using Android 18's voice and he mocks Android 17 in Android 18's voice about how he couldn't save her or himself, but Piccolo comes in and tries to do stuff, but fails and he actually sacrifices himself for Android 17 and it is a little like when he sacrificed himself for Gohan, but he is on the ground bleeding and with Android 17 there with him Piccolo begs him with gis dying breath to not let this time be like last time and to run, and Android 17 does so, but he ends up getting absorbed anyway, and Cell achieves his Perfect Form and it is likenthe original Cell just he is blue and green with pink spots and pink line down his back and wings, and a double crest and four arms, and the patches under his eyes are red, and his has spikes coming out of his shin area and fore afms like a Ciceda, and his jawline strap is yellow and goes around to his chin and his ears like the original Cell, except this one has two yellow insect mandable protrusions on his chin like a goatee, and he is just on another level than the original Cell and he takes Zeno's throne and wants to show the entire multiverse that he is the ultimate creation and that he is superior to everyone gods and mortals alike, and he has a kind of Cosmic multiversal tournament a little like the Tournament of Power and the Cell Games combined, but he is just so full of himself, and for good reason because he can use magic, he can turn people into stone by spitting on them, he has Zamasu's half immortality as will as the merger with Super Shenron making him immune to Zeno's erasure and having the immortality and techniques and powers of the angels and gods in him and of Zeno himself so he is fully immortal and can erase everything himself, but he doesn't do that becasue of his pride because he wants to show that he is better than everyone, and they cannot kill him, but they manage to imprison him, but Cell planned for this and wished back the original Cell of the present timeline that was still in the incubation lab under Dr. Gero's old lab, so that Cell will constantly have DNA from individuals from all of existence being fed to him, from all of the universes like Hit and Jiren and Toppo to all of the angels and all of time. So that Cell that is growing will be a looming threat in the background that no one knows about who will be Ultra powerful, may more than any version of Cell before it. That is what I would do. What confuses me is that technically, the cell that they are fighting is from the past. So, in that particular cells timeline, he couldn't have gotten trunks data because trunks didn't use the time machine to go to earth or fight Frieza ...A timeline where trunks data was collected & apply to cell would have took effect in an even further future timeline.

He's from the future, he could have had the Trunks he killed in his timeline, with no androids, incorporated. There's at least a 10 year gap between the death of the Z fighters in the original timeline and Trunks being killed by Cell. I think he's referring to THAT Trunks, despite the panel showing the future Trunks we know.

When comes to Cell I don't think there is a right or wrong answer as far as whose cells he has. I think definitely we can see the dominant ones being Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Frieza, and King Cold not only from a power standpoint but from how Cell behaves from when he first arrives to when he's ultimately destroyed. I do think there are more cells that made him up but would have become less dominant as time went on much like our heros scalling un terms of power to each other. I think Dr. Gero's DNA spy bots had preprogrammed targets such as Goku, Piccolo, and the Sayians but I think the bots also had a program that said anything above either the human norm or what the spy bots saw at the world tournament which is why Frieza and King Cold are there even the spy bots stopped the DNA bots didn't. So by thst logic it's likely that Krillen, Tien, Gohan, Yamcha, Chatzuo, Yajirobe, and Nappa are apart of Cell just not dominant. I think what troops Frieza brought along to earth would be there as they'd scale above the norm. The only one I find unlikely is Trunks but again if Trunks always travels back in time it's possible he's there maybe from a fight in the future that he lost or when he travels back in time first. Otherwise I saw make your own cannon and have fun with it.

Idea for future video: Not sure if you've already talked about it, but placing when and where did larval Cell get into the timeline would be fun. Was it around the time Radditz landed in earth? Before that even? It might be fun to imagine anyone finding and fighting the Cell bug before it grew into Cell. The bug being significantly weaker but the z warriors before Kami training, being significantly weaker as well.

Personally, I believe Gohan’s cells were used & Cell got Gohan’s hidden potential from it. After he blew up on King Kai’s planet he came back as Super Perfect Cell which I believe to be equal to that of Gohan’s Super Saiyan 2 power up. The only reason I don’t believe that came from a zenkai boost is because we’ve only seen that applied to any Saiyan when they’ve recovered from within an inch of death & not from death itself. While I’m sure a saiyan has gotten a boost post death, I think the zenkai gets it’s fullest effect when the fighter recovers from a beating. Then again, you could also say that Cell regenerating post explosion is equal to that of a complete recovery & not a death which would trigger a zenkai. I just don’t think a zenkai would give that much of a boost to push him from super saiyan equivalent to super saiyan 2. Gohan’s hidden potential though, it does & for him it did. I guess I’m just saying in a roundabout way, & perhaps even deconstructing my own argument that it could be either or.

Super Perfect Cell is not equal to Gohan's SSJ2 form..Gohan's SSJ2 is at least twice as strong as even Super Perfect Cell. Gohan defeated Cell when he was at half power. Meaning, 50% of Gohan's SSJ2 power was still stronger than SP Cell. Had Gohan been at 100%, Cell would have stood zero chance against Gohan regardless of his Zenkai boost after blowing himself up.

Cell Jr. using the Tri Beam could be one of two things imo: 1. Cell Learned it from watching Tien use it against him and being hit by it MULTIPLE times. He has Goku's cells and Goku is like the second best mimic aside from Buu we see I think, or 2. It was the anime and they thought it would at to the tension for all the Cell Jr.s to use their opponent's abilities against them to drive home the point of helplessness.

10:10 -- I don't remember Goku using the Distructo Disk, but Vegeta uses it (in the anime at least) to cut off Ozaru Gohan's tail, so could have gotten it from him. Also, the "and many others" means some DNA from Krillen, Tien, and such, could have been used to extract technique and fighting data from, it's just the 5 mentioned could make up the bulk of his physical DNA (75% or more) and 100 of his personality, with any others being for battle experience, techniques, and filler to help tie all that code together, especially if he needs to absorb 17 and 18, who have human DNA, where the five mentioned have none.

Cell doesn't necessarily need someone's DNA to use their techniques, because he has the DNA of Goku, who can copy any technique just from seeing it once. His self-destruct probably comes from Saibaman DNA though.

The reason why Cell had tri-beam is because of his Goku genes. If you remember, Goku is capable of learning an attack after it's used on him which is why he can't be hit with an attack twice. And, if you remember when Tien hit Cell with like 25 Neo Tri Beam Cannons I'm sure hi figured it out then 😅

I can just imagine them bringing Cell back in either one of two ways: 1. They just wish Cell back with th Dragon Balls. 2. They add new lore and abilities to Cell where, ok in the Dragon Ball Super Manga the Cell Jr.s exist in Android 17's island, so maybe they can use them as a plot building device where they can make it to where Dr. Gero and his computer planned for Cell's death, where each of the Cell Jr.s has a cell of the original Cell in them, like a genetic codex with all of the genetic and data material information of the original Cell including all of his memories and powers and data backed up, to where it can be extracted from the Cell Jr.s or the Cell Jr.s will kind of birth it out just like Cell birthed out the Cell Jr.s and that condensed codex cell of Cell will grow and develope into Cell just like when he came back from his own self-destruction, and it is a failsafe ressurection process that Dr. Gero and his computer made to Cell's design where all of the Cell Jr.s have this genetic codex copy piece of the original Cell inside of them, and in the case if Cell was actually killed, only one of the Cell Jr.s would have had to survive and get away, and it can release the genetic codex piece of Cell and Cell will grow and come back that way as part of his design where it was a failsafe ressurection process in case of his actual death. Tell me what you all think about the ideas.

In a way, it's like how king piccolo reincarnated into piccolo Jr. Idk if that would lead to a good story outside of fanservice, but piccolo Jr and frieza in super did well, so it might be ok. most techniques aren't really genetic, stuff like Kaioken and Solar Flare are techniques in theory any living being can do. All the computer had to do was show cell these techniques while he was incubating since cell has the genes from multiple fighting prodigy/geniuses and he could probably learn them all subconsciously. Him doing these moves has less to do with cell having anyone's genes in particular and more to do with him overall being a fighting genius like goku/vegeta.

He would’ve had to have gotten Destructo Disk from Krillin. Goku didn’t use it until the Buu saga. Frieza’s disk are different.

You could technically say he picked up Goku's mimicry talents, which are a huge part of what's always made Goku such a tough opponent. That being said, I assumed everyone in the Saiyan Saga were integrated into Cell, even including the Saibamen.
