@@MohamedAli-xu3uw I wouldn't put too much credit in that excuse from Eric. Yeah, the WWF was able to do stuff like have Mae Young give birth to a hand, and whatever-the-fuck Beaver Cleavage was... but I don't think anyone saw those and was like 'yeah this is good television that I want to watch.' Wrestling fans care about great feuds, rivalries, matches, and promos, not the creepy shit that old men think is "sexy." WCW went downhill when their stories stopped making sense because the egos at the top were afraid to change, not because Eric wasn't allowed to have more bra and panties matches.

I was a WCW junkie mid nineties. Couldn't get enough Nitro. I would watch the first run and the encore. Heck I'd even record it on TAPE with my VCR. WCW went to crap around '99 or so and I quit watching. Then, flipping channels one evening, I seen McMahon on Nitro. Holy crap. Couldn't believe what I was seeing. Without a doubt, THE single worst event in pro wrestling history was WWE's purchase of WCW.

20:00 I remember watching Thunder in 2000-01 and seeing the same people in the crowd and thinking it was odd they were also at Nitro two nights earlier. Also, by the end of Thunder the few people who were showing up for the tapings, many of them had gone home. It was a school night after all. The arena's were nearly empty at the end of the show.

The AOL/ Time Warner merger goes down as the worst corporate merger of all time.... They say that WCW lost $62 million in 2000 and the company wanted to bail on it but the irony of it all is that AOL Time Warner lost $54 billion dollars in one quaurter in 2002, after WCW was sold.... They later divested themselves from AOL in 2009.... There's a book about it called "Fool's Rush In"

I think by the time WCW was done Tony was glad. I have to admit so was I. The reason is that the last 19 months was hard to watch. The energy that attracted many fans there was gone. The politics of WCW was coming across on tv. Vince only brought WCW cause he needed a story line cause his favorite son in law Triple H was injured.

The WWE Was Getting Boring A Month Before The Invasion Happened. Their Only Top Stars Left Were Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Undertaker & Kane. And The Big Show Was Sent To The WWE's Developmental Territory Ohio Valley Wrestling. The WWE Were Boring From After Judgement Day 2001, Until DDP Made His Debut & The Invasion Angle Still Sucked/Was Terrible. This Is How The Invasion Should've Been Booked. The Giant & The Ultimate Warrior Should've Switched Companies. Meng & Mark Henry Were The Same Size Or Meng Was Bigger. Meng Should've Jumped Ship During The Invasion. And Bam Bam Bigelow Was Bigger Than Rikishi. WCW vs WWE: Hollywood/Hulk Hogan, Sting, Lex Luger, Sid Vicious, Goldberg, The Giant, Scott Hall & Kevin Nash vs Stone Cold Steve Austin, The Rock, Shawn Michaels, The Undertaker, Mick Foley, Triple H, Ultimate Warrior & Kane Booker T vs Chris Jericho, Scott Steiner vs Kurt Angle, The Disciple vs Billy Gunn, Van Hammer vs Test, Horace Hogan vs Ken Shamrock, Harlem Heat(Stevie Ray & Big T) vs The Dudley Boyz, Kronik vs APA, Chuck Palumbo/Sean O'Haire vs Edge/Christian, Shawn Stasiak/Mark Jindrak vs The Hardy Boyz, Mike Awesome/Lance vs Too Cool, Meng/The Barbarian vs Mark Henry/D'Lo Brown, Bam Bam Bigelow vs Rikishi & Jerry Flynn vs Steve Blackman. WCW Would've Not Only Won The Invasion War, They Would've Dominated The WWE & Their Tag Teams Could've Killed Most Of The WWE's. With This Match Card & Those Wrestlers On Both Rosters, Noone Would've Seen The WWE Winning & Noone Would've Expected The WWE To Even Win Less Than Half Of The Matches. WCW Still Had More Top Stars, Ric Flair, DDP, Randy Savage, Roddy Piper & Bret Hart. There's No Way They Would've Lost To Any WWE Midcarders.

Wwe buying wcw dumbest thing ever buying out your competion not a good ideal and I can believe they couldn't get somebody to run WCW mind blowing
@GLPitt12 жыл бұрын
They just didn't want anyone else buying it and keeping it going so they could go back to being lazy and doing the same storylines over, and over, and over, and over like they do now. The smart thing would be to let them go out of business and or sell to someone else. They didn't have TV with TBS or TNT in place it would not have been a huge threat to WWE. Let the contracts on Hall, Nash, Goldberg, Hogan expire and while you are waiting craft ideas for stories and feuds for when they are available. Sign them and bring them in one at a time slowly to stretch out your programming for the next few years. But no. That would be quality planning and good television.
@keithbaker69312 жыл бұрын
Who in their right mind, or wong mind for that matter, would hire a guy who is the CEO of Pizza Hut, to run a wrestling organization? That's like U.S Steel running the NFL. I don't get that at all.
