@@whatsyourstoryindia Maximum in large cap like Financials( HDFCBANK, ICICI etc) , Technology( Infy , Wipro etc), Insurance (HDFCLIFE), Industries ( L&T etc), Automobile(TATAMOTORS) Invested when market was at 27k( Sensex), due to corona. Right now , it's not the right time to enter market. I took risk and invested some on high risk share like Yes bank , Idea. Invested very less in such stocks. May boom later but even I lose, I wont mind that money.

The main mistake I made was trading without a stop loss. It's all fine when the trade goes in your direction but when it starts going in the opposite direction, you're done for. Lost a lot because of this. Started using a SL and keep a risk: reward of 1:3 and it's finally starting to improve.

I think the points are well discussed. But I think the 2 more significant points are 1. Retail traders try to trade risky or over hyped stocks like Vakarangee mentioned When you know nothing about a stock and it keeps rising then it is over hyped hence never invest in such stocks. 2. Retail traders try to go against trend. When a stock is falling terribly in rising or stable market it means something is fundamentally wrong with that stock and hence never average it. For e.g. Voda Idea taught me the biggest lesson of my life. It kept falling and I kept buying and then rights came at half of market price and I invested and then it went below rights price and I invested. Finally sold at massive losses. Never go against trend. use your logic. If the entire market is selling the stock why would you buy it. In fact these are the 2 reasons I lost maximum money. So if traders avoid these 2 bigger mistakes they can do lot better. First never buy over hyped stock an unknown stock rising simply on news and publicity and never go against trend. Buying a stock when it is falling massively in a rising or stable market.

I have heard this from many people that not to trade in the first 10 minutes of the market. But I trade only in the first 10 minutes and find it very comfortable... because then there is a swing in the market at 9:30 and one does not know in which direction the swing would go..
