Excellent demonstration, Jen! That’s so much easier for me, compared to the flat pattern demo you did originally. We have to learn to see in three dimensions.

Great video Jen. Thanks for the extra explanation and being able to see it on the dress form really makes a difference.

You are so welcome! When I brought this full body dressform home (it was gifted to me)... I knew I couldn't use it to fit myself because it's a small size 6... But using it to demonstrate fitting techniques is priceless!! I'm so excited to have it :) Thanks for following along

Thank you, Jennifer! Totally pattern-nerded out with this video. I’m working on a blog post right now. Will it be okay to include a link to one of your pant fit videos? I will send you a link as soon as it’s up.

Thanks for this. I think you’ve helped me piece another part of pants fitting together. My question is, what adjustment would you make in the front rise and crotch area if you have a prominent lower tummy along with a prominent behind? I’m small, with a very short torso and my lower belly is curvy along with my butt, i often have too much vertical fabric on pants in the crotch, causing vertical folds or a sort of pouch. I’ve determined it had something to do with my butt taking up some extra room in the pattern, so I’ve tried to adjust the back, but not too sure how to adjust the front. I typically need a much shorter front rise and it seems like I also need a smaller size front leg pattern piece. I’ve never tried using one size smaller pants front, but would that help in this situation? Or is there an adjustment to the front seam to account for a rounder tummy? It seems counterintuitive to reach for a smaller size, but i just have too much bunchy fabric between my low belly and crotch.

My Pleasure. If you have a prominent lower belly, you need some length there to reach around to meet the back crotch extension... Not a longer front rise along the straight part, but a little more length along the curved part of the front crotch extension. I really recommend starting with a separate fitting waistband and a single leg muslin prepped like this tutorial shows... Then you can let the fabric tell you where you need length or lack there of! One thing I would check is the rise of the pattern pieces compared to you... If you're rise is significantly shorter than the pattern's... Adjust the fitting allowance above the waistband so you have up to 4" of extra length ... That way you can let the front and back up and down until you get them balanced. Adding to the crotch points and inseams will allow you to customize the length of the crotch extensions before you move on to a two leg muslin! Hope this helps, thanks for fitting along with me. kzbin.info/www/bejne/m4u4pJWkpal2l68

Great vid. I have a heart shape hips and where should I put my centre balance line? Thanks

If you have a prominent behind and a curvy hip, its ok for the top of the center balance line to be closer to your CB edge. See how your muslin fits and adjust if necessary, thanks for fitting along with me
