I remember the American submarine base in Scotland Holy lock when I was growing up. The sailors would visit the dance hall on a Saturday night in My home town Glasgow. Mostly The Black Guys. Great Music, Sam Cooke, Otis Redding soul Music. This was in the late 60s. Great times.

I know what you are talking about. I am a retired nurse here in the US and saw a lot of older people dying and that is when their kids showED up on their death bed. If there is nothing for them no one will claim the patient. So sad because growing up in Asia, we just do not treat our parents that way. So my suggestion to you is stay in the Philippines. Filipino women in general are loyal. Treat them well and they will stay with you.

Cebu or Davao or Dumaguete. There are THOUSANDS literally of lovely girls who are single and are really genuine and faithful. Go there for a holiday. They WILL find YOU!

Just a message for Shawn...I don't know what it's like to be in a divorced family. But I remember 20 years ago when I was 20. I was confused and angry and disappointed, and I was cocky and arrogant etc. I didn't know anything expect my parents didn't know anything. Now I am 40 and I have 4 little kids. And now I realize how hard it all is. Life is hard. And I look forward to hearing from my Dad. Keep working on yourself, have patience and have hope.

If he "was thinking about getting out" it leads me to believe that his injury is not related to his leaving the Navy. Probably just one of the hundreds of thousands of veterans that filed a post service VA claim. Some legit and some not so. His claim that the total Navy fleet is comprised of 90% submarines is just total nonsense and not something I would typically hear from an 11 year veteran. I'd like to get a peek at his DD214...I served 25 years from 1984 - 2009 (retired) so I know a little bit about what I am talking about.

Sean's experience is way different than mine. With missile subs they had 2 crews 3 months at sea 3 months in port. Must be nice. I was on a fast attack sub. They used to call them "fast black and never come back". Just one crew and always out. I went through nuclear power school. Went to Hong Kong and they did not allow us to dock. We had to moor out and take water taxis in. Japan, Korea, Philippines allowed us to dock. Missile subs had more space and more crew but they stacked the racks 4 tall on my sub. Lay down on your back, put your fist on forehead and that is the distance between you and the rack above you. I got out a year before he went in. Interesting... maybe I will see you guys out there. Peace ✌

In another quite interesting interview, being a veteran, his story resonated with me; the only real difference is that I served in the field artillery in the US Army during the cold war and Desert Storm later on. My divorce was similar to his with non-communication from children due to my ex. I was also a good father. This action appears to be relatively common today and gut-wrenching. He has my empathy. Thank you for conducting this video with this US Navy disabled veteran. I am also disabled from the military.

that is not always true. And remember the apple does not fall far from the tree. As I have seen and as I have experienced some families are not family-orientated to be that way among themselves. Some family members are drawn to other families. The trick is to realize who you are and where you stand in the world of your own family and other families..
