I guess its better for a foreigner to remain single. Just rent, or "buy a condo 'correction, rent or lease only' " and date. There is no real incentive to getting married in the Philippines. Thanks for the heads up with this video information Gio. You have changed my perspective on marriage in the Philippines.

Seems like the immigration dept. is trying to rid the Philippines of expats on extended tourist visas. The spousal visa doesn't sound too good, given that your partner will hold all the cards. Another good video Gio.

Great information for guys that are considering getting married to a filipina. I think the rules should be more stringent about revoking a marriage visa and not allow a filipina to revoke it based on a fight. The rules should state that you have to get an affidavit from an attorney that you have decided to separate.

Good vid Gio. Last week I got another 6 months extensio, no problem Also two weeks ago, I swaped my US license for a Filipino license.....no issues. The lien on a property if you use the 10K or 20K....is a rip-off. Thailand has either a deposit or a verified source of income of around $1900 PER MONTH in order to get a retirement O visa. If the Philippines continues to make it difficult on expats, they will see an exodus, especially as inflation impacts an expats purchasing power.

SRRV for me - who knows what any future spouse will do upon a break- up! You then find that you are back on a visitor's visa! We see now that 6 month extensions of visitor visa's are on the way out too! Maybe, this type of visitor visa is not the future for long term stays in the Philippines guys. Choose your visa type carefully if you wish to stay long term.

Hi Gio, like your video presentations and find find them quite interesting. Sound like a lot of commenters on here have had bad experiences with marriage (raise my hand too). Met my wife in the Philippines while she was on summer break working at a Canadian school in Dubai. Got her a fiancé visa and now we have been married for 12 years and live here in Florida USA, recently decided to retire in the Philippines(my age is 60) when reaching retirement age. Will have no problem getting a 13a marriage visa before going to the Philippines to retire(supposedly can get the permanent 13a marriage visa when applied for at the Philippine consulate in the U.S.). Probably will keep a separate bank account with my funds though. Those that meet a Filipina there and decide to marry, can understand their apprehensiveness about getting a 13a marriage visa over an SRRV retirement visa.

I personally would avoid the spousal visa and stick with the SRRV type of visa. Putting your visa basically in the hands of your spouse is a dangerous game, especially with divorce becoming legal in the philippines. She can kick you out and cut you off with your visa in a heartbeat, and then you will need to scramble to obtain a visa in order to be in the philippines. Keep your power and your sanity because, as we know, things happen, and you could be left up a creek without a paddle.

I had to get a new one way with a new serial & ACR number and a new expiration date on the back. You can wait until it's time to do your monthly extension and they will charge you for a new one if it's expired at that time. Don't worry, just bring some extra money😂

My two cents: Years ago, I read an article in a Psychology magazine (I was trapped in a doctors office waiting room) which said that once you reach 30, you are who you are - your beliefs/values/personality will cease to change. I have seen it played out in my own life, among friends and family, repeatedly. To those who say, "She'll be westernized!" I have a question. Would you tell Americans not to go to the PH because they will turn into Filipinos? Of course not. So, a good person will remain one. A slimy opportunist will also remain one. If she loves you, she always will. If she is just using you, you are a fool (but, you are getting laid, so......).

@thinkforyourself9334 Жыл бұрын
Just do the extension at any immigration office. You won't be able to get a 6 month extension. Getting a 2 month extension is "possible" if you wait until you get close to your 30 day mark and rhen apply for the extension in person. They allowed me to extend for 2 months instead of 29 days at the Makati extension office. It's more lenient there and you are in and out in less than 20 minutes....I was at day 27 of 30 when I extended. Your results may vary though.

Well, you don't get a 6 month visa initially. You get the 30 days upon arrival and then you can extend 29 days and after that you can apply to get the 59 day or 6 month visa extension.

I went over for 3 months last November got my ACR card and manage to open a bank account and get a driving licence. So you can enter on a marriage visa and just do visa runs once a year with your Filipina and you wouldn’t have to pay for an ACR card or visa fees. Just the cost of a return flight to a neighbouring SE Asian country. Or pay around 12,000 pesos for the 12 month marriage visa extension and $50 for an ACR card.

Hi Gio! Love all your videos! Just one question that you might have discussed off record. In this day and age where digital nomads are everywhere whether a foreigner or a local of the Philippines, does the 'residential address" matter or it doesn't as long as you make it in person to do the annual report in the Philippines? (with the spousal visa of course)
