Toyota sensor $300 Denso without toyota sticker $30
@openeyes-4113 ай бұрын
And THAT is your answer right there! 👍👍 Check the OEM and then buy that brand from rock auto...
@MishtahPoog3 ай бұрын
Right -- the distinction is between official manufacturer, OE, and OEM parts on one hand, and aftermarket parts on the other hand. That Denso sensor would be OE or OEM since it's literally the same part, just without a Toyota brand on it.
@1windozesuk3 ай бұрын
There is a caveat to this. Denso and other OEM parts suppliers also male aftermarket parts and they aren't always the same part they provide to the OEM. Auto parts chains will negotiate with them and have they make a lower quality part to reduce cost. Same for Bosch and others. So even though the part is made by the company that makes the OEM part, ut does not mean that it is the OEM quality part. It often can be, but it is not a rule. Now with that said, I have never gone wrong with a Denso or Bosch branded part (as opposed to co branded with the OEM) purchased aftermarket, so I trust these companies for now until they are bought out by a company like Driv or at least their automotive divisions are bought out by Driv and then become crap Chinese parts with the Denso logo on then. I am not saying all Chinese made stuff is crap, but they are willing to cut more corners than most and companies like Driv push them to cut even more corners it seems. This is why the market is being flooded with so many bad parts. Tough time to be a mechanic, I'm glad I am no longer one.

@MrZebeda3 ай бұрын
That's such a bad take on this video. As Scotty said, it's mainly computer-related stuff and sensors are the parts where it's a good idea to go OEM. For my used European market Lancer, I got a set of Brembo disks and pads, Bosch plugs, serpentine belt, and fuel pump, Mann Filter air and oil filter, and a Herth und Buss fuel filter. Not upgrades, these all conform to OEM spec. They are excellent quality parts and not cheap by any stretch, but they are a hell of a lot cheaper than what the dealership tries to sell. Thousands of miles later the car still starts, idles, accelerates, and stops like a dream. Just don't go for the bottom-shelf stuff and you'll be fine.

Depends what you want. Do you just want to do the cheap/chincy way and buy an aftermarket tail/headlight to make your car look a little better? Or do you respect your car (And its manufacturers quality) enough to replace a worn out headlight/taillight with an OEM replacement? Obviously there IS a difference. Even if you dont notice it standing 10 feet away. And I'd rather spend the extra $50-100 to get the quality OEM replacement on a part like that. Do you need an OEM air filter? No. Or OEM wiper blades? No. Or OEM battery? No. But, I think lights is one thing to not cheap out on. Respect your car.

Then the tps sensor went bad and in honda fashion they only sell the tps as an assembly with the entire throttle body. A throttle body that the dealership quoted me $1.2k for. Mind you i drive a 19yo honda and i didnt even spend that much to buy it. Buying from a honda factory parts website and it was still over $700. Even on rockauto they were always out of stock. Unfortunately for me i didnt feel like spending $700-$1.2k on a whole throttle body and now i loose power with the generic one.

What are your thoughts on aftermarket oil filters? Is there really a difference between them and the OEM ones?
@LUk3.M.3 ай бұрын
Only difference might be superior quality ones on aftermarket. And something like that is made by a supplier that also produces name brands. For example: Honda OEM oil filters are made by Fram (or Filtech). Parts like that are almost always produced by a contracted company that is already selling its own products. Car manufacturers are not producing their own oil filters. That would be HIGHLY inefficient. Special logos and colors on the box & filter are the only things OEM oil filters give you benefit of.
