My favorite video of Colombia, love it!! I’m Colombian and I love Colombia for its vibrant culture, warm-hearted people, stunning landscapes, rich history, and delicious cuisine. The country's diversity, from the Andes to the Amazon, adds to its unique charm. But, here comes the sad part, the current government is causing significant harm by increasing cocaine production and undermining the country's police and judicial branches. This poses a serious threat to Colombia's stability and safety.

So what do you propose as policy then? A return to the Uribe/Duque program (American funded and instigated) program of coca eradication by spraying with toxic glyphosate (roundup)? Which obviously never worked anyway. Nothing fundamentally wrong with coca plants in the first place. I've walked thru them in Putumayo.. It's what they do to it in the processing that converts it to a vile toxic substance. I wouldn't be punishing the farmers either.

Very different from how it used to be or how it's portrayed in media. Would love to go back to Colombia one day and see the coffee region/Medellin!

Colombia territory has all grade of ground altitudes from which allows you to fit at your best temperature all year around, from sea level to snow mountainsides, from deserts to the beautiful Amazonas. The east side of the territory is flat and the central and western is crossed by the chain of mountains landing at the pacific and Atlantic oceans. Tropical rivers are paradise for fishermen and lovers of nature. There are no excuses to accommodate to your needs 🎉🎉

I will move to Colombia to stay first 6 months per year. Two things you need to know. The most important is to speak basic Spanish because the people don’t know how to speak English or they have a bad pronunciation. The second and for me the most important is you need to know how to cook and your costs will go down a lot.

@michaelk there is an incredible array of great food available in the marketplace but not necessarily so easily found in typical restaurants and especially on the street. It's mostly fat fried food, not healthy food. And outside of fine dining in big cities I found more tasty healthy (especially seafood), on the coast.. not in Medellin.. Medellin is a big cash register and it's all about fast and cheap and profitable. But if you love your tough as leather carne and fatty pork you will be right at home.

A - "fish out of water" - w/o Spanish and don't want the isolation in my old age - I'd prefer "comfort" by not needing a different language. This means the Philippines jumps to the top of the list for me. A variety of cost of living locations can be had over there - where they all speak English. Some up to 70% less than the US average ! ((wow)) All business signs street signs menus and legal documents - are all in English !!! - - - '''IF''' - - - the people of Colombia spoke more English....... like they do in Malaysia - or - even in Cambodia........

We are a Spanish speaking country with a very strong Spanish culture, we don’t really have to speak English, that being said, if you are moving there learn the language buddy. Plus Colombia is in the same time zone as NYC and only 5.5hrs flight from it, is a very convenient location for many expats.

Medellin is nice, but a little steep and slippery for an older person with walking issues like me. My nephew is living there now with his lady. I'll see them later this year up in Playa del Carmen where I stay winters. Long term for me it could be back to Medellin for a longer stay and also CDMX. Mexico City is a very beautiful place. Much better for older people like me. Now if they only could get their water issues solved.

Asian? No, that is Peru. Where in Colombia did you visit and you didn't bump into an Afro-Colombian? They are hard to miss but you failed to mentioned thier existence considering alot of their culture is evident in the country. I have been to Colombia many times as i have many friends and some family there and i don't see as many asians as i did in Peru. Also many of your information is not correct because the crime rate is high especially with groups like The FARC. Also Colombia is very expensive to live especially for the locals. I would recommend on visiting Colombia and not reading from articles.

Colombia is not famous for its food alth on the Caribbean side you can find more interesting and tasty dishes like fresh sea food cooked in salsa de coco... Colombia has an official language stablished in Colombian constitution which is Spanish (Article Number 10, to be precise), and also that depends who you talk to. IF it is elderly people they won't understand a lot of things. If you talk to a young adult or teenager that would be a little bit easier. It's not an "allergy" as you say, and also learning the local language is a way to adapt the country you're going to move to.

You are simply a monolingual arrogant gringo, expecting the entire world to speak English for you, which makes you allergic to Spanish. And those countries speak English because their language is not as common as Spanish. Remember that Spanish is spoken in practically 70% of America, including some Caribbean islands. And saying that all Argentinians speak English is a complete lie, because only about 20% speak some English, and the reason is that more immigrants from Europe, where people speak easily several languages. Also, Colombia won’t miss you, but you will miss knowing or living in such spectacular country. So, learn the language. Immigrants in the USA have to learn English, what makes you think you don’t have to learn the language of the place you are visiting?
