A few facts to put out there: 1. Last summer, Spurs only signed one attacking player early - Maddison. Veliz signed in August, Johnson on 1st September. 2. Last summer, only two players signed went on tour - Maddison and Vicario. I don't count Porro and Kulu as both were already in the squad from the previous season, it was just an accounting measure to activate the obligations to buy in the summer. 3. Johnson's signing wasn't meant as a 'statement' - the plan A would have been have a season working himself into the side, shadowing Perisic, Kulusevski and Solomon. No-one at Spurs could foresee Perisic' season-ending injury, nor Solomon being out most of the season too. These things happen. Johnson was thrown in early due to Perisic' and Solomon's injuries, not due to Postecoglou's plans, nor any scheming from Levy. 4. If Davies, Skipp and Royal 'shouldn't be on tour', please name who should be playing centre back in 3 games in a week - if you want to start the season with injuries, play 3*90 minutes in 7 days with two players. All three are being used as emergency centre backs, neither Royal nor Skipp are being played in their normal positions. Would you rather Gray and/or Phillips pulled their achilles? As it is, George Abbott will play at least 120 minutes over the three games at left back and he is U21, not senior squad. Whinge all you want, but if you can't focus on how to cover 6 centre back slots in 7 days without injurying key squad members still getting up to full fitness, just accept that this is a squad preservation matter, not a power struggle between Postecoglou and Levy.

Great summation mate. Get negative on 30/8 @11pm when we haven't signed anyone. They've said on numerous occasions they have a plan, trust that and wait. While we are waiting just support the team and the club and stop spreading negativity.

This is very concerning as Ange has had a plan and made statements at the end of last season, that he wants players in early, knowing we need to rebuild the squad and add depth. At this point, Ange is giving the politically correct answers but he has to be frustrated as preparation to me would be key in getting this team to a level needed to push ahead. Personally, I am starting to get the feeling that this is typical Spurs... leaving it late, and then we will sign subpar players in a rush!! I hope they prove me wrong!!

I think we’re feeling worried because we can see what might be possible and want to be optimistic for the new season. For me, the transfer window is a little like ascending towards the first drop of a roller coaster, anxiety kicks in and we cast about for some sense of reassurance or an illusory sense of control. I believe in Ange and know that he will be doing everything possible to develop a squad capable of winning trophies. How long it takes is the only question left in my mind and this is contingent on so many complex and diverse factors. Levy and his approach is certainly one but I think the Europa and Premier league rules are dictating that Tottenham sells and sells and sells before the significant incomings can be brought in. Yep, if Ange ran a club. It would run like clockwork. He is top tier. Clearly he's not in control of all the complicated " mechanisms" operating in the club. In which he has paid respect in the past. Talking about all the "moving parts' within a football club that need to synchronise in unison (the stars need to align) in order to crystalise tangible results. So he's not like Mourinho, give me what i want Mr Levy. He get's the club has parameters and he has operated with salary caps in Australia. It's his default mode. I think if things don't improve and he doesn't get significant re inforcements (after the fact they get rid of all the deadwood). I suspect he won't be happy at all. I think he's saying he's happy atm because shit runs downhill. And he's at the top, he needs to lead by example for the players he's in charge of. So i think his character, in being an underdog will really start to ignite under him. He won't be happy but i don't think he'll back down. Unless he doesn't get backed, and the club fails to get anyone of significance. Who knows. He's been known to walk when others don't hold their own. But i still believe he's not happy atm. I feel like at least with Postecoglu more so than any other previous manager, him and Levy have sat down and had an adult conversation about expectations. So when Postecoglu said something like "I don't need £100m player, I'd rather get two players for £50m" I think that is definitely because Levy has said to him "no way we can spend more then £60m on a player". It might be a compromise though where Ange has said he'll blood in the youngsters this year but let him go big in his third year if he needs certain players. I actually wouldn't mind that, just putting in the younger guys who have looked promising so far in preseason and spending bigger next year. I do think that they need to get in 1-2 quality attacking players though. Plus there's talk of Richarlison going to Saudi Arabia which I wouldn't. mind as long someone proven like Toney comes in

When Ange signed on he forecast 3 transfer windows to get the squad he wants. A couple months back he said 4. At current pace, it looks like 5 but at least those on the outer are starting to put their hand up for a move. I'm very optimistic about the future. I can't see big things this year without at least two big signings but they will eventually arrive and those kids are going to continue to get better.

Nothing will ever change under Levy and the current ownership. For me, failure to back Conte was the final straw, you can argue all day about Conte’s tactics and playing style but what is indisputable is that Conte is a winner. I believe Ange will walk if he believes he has not been backed this summer, it may not happen immediately but almost certainly before the season is out.

I don't think Ange will get sacked anytime soon unless him and the team really underperform this season. He could even have a Ten Hag type of season where it's a very mixed bag but it's covered up by a trophy. My expectations are not too too high for this season, so I'm not expecting to be disappointed easily. We're definitely not going to be pushing for titles as soon as he would like, but I think there's a lot of room to have a relatively good season. I agree that we might not get Eze & Ivan Toney, but I have a strong feeling we will get one of them. I could definitely be wrong. I'd settle for Neto and Solanke though, but maybe that's too much of a risk. Appreciate your support for us as always DropKickYourTeacher. I think you're in Texas right? Its all for raising the brands profile financially...if we wanted to prepare for the new season we would be using our training centre back home. Spurs arent set up for success on the pitch..they are set up for financial profit. Its a never ending cycle and we are back to the start with young potential prospects with a high ceiling transfer profit..again.

People need to relax, the window was delayed by the Euro's, everyone wants these statement players, but so do a lot of other clubs and the selling club are going to try and play the system and that takes times. We are just one party in a three party negotiation and our time-frame doesn't always match theirs. Also we are way more organised this window with a real recruitment team behind the process and things are happening quietly behind the scenes...PEH was a perfect example, no big noise and just quietly announced. Quality signings take time.

I am not worried. We will sign some significant players. No way we've already let 6 players leave including players on significant wages (Hojbjerg, Sessegnon, Ndombele) and more players going Reguilon, Gil, Lo Celso, Emerson without major investment in the squad. Ange is relaxed with process. Also likely quite a few targets probably on holidays too if they were involved in latter stages of Euros or Copa America so no benefit signing on 30th June.

I definitely feel the same way as you do Ed. I'm not panicking or really that anxious about the incomings. Like you say, the significant outgoings are an indication of the eventual big incoming transfers that will come this window. The recent tournaments also do not help and have definitely contributed to the wonkyness and impatience of this transfer window. So we shall see if he is capable of coaching his team or if Poch will be seen as the better of the two. (Given Poch has been out best manager/coach since Redknapp). That said plenty of time to go. Id swap higher this season for a few finals tbh. Yeah the player situation is terrible. Most have been duds - glad the old guard (put politely) are going/gone. Only Udogie, Porro, Vicario and Sarr can hold their heads up. Kulu, Biss and even Benty have been inconsistent. Maddison and Richy still need to show why they were worth 100m combined! ^^ Maybe an injection of youth can give the pros a kick up the backsie. It will either work or the pros will gang up and stop passing to the younger ones.

Apart from 16-17 season when we were 2nd in the league that 74 goals mark is the most we scored in last 10 years. And considering we lost Kane, that goals mark should be applauded not be criticized. Any system that has a back four of Udogie, van de Ven, Romero, Porro - that leaks as many goals as it did last season - is a system that doesnt work. That back four has two of the best centre backs in the world in it..and the system is defensively ripped to shreds on the counter. Tin hat theory here. Bretford last season was holding out for 40 mil for raya but in the end sent on loan with obligation to buy at 27 mil. I think brentford are playing hard ball again with toney. With Eze palace know he wants to leave as spurs have already agreed to pay the 60 mil plus add ons. Maybe they are tryong to get the up front payment slighlty down i think the clauses within the release clause thats causing problems. For the 3rd i would love to see williams ( i can dream ) but if not it could well be neto of they can get the 60 mil down as thats unrealistic due to his injury record. A lot of fans would agree with you here Paul about the outgoings influencing the eventual big signing incomings. We've opened up some squad spots for non-Homegrown players to come through and we've free up some big wages in the squad. Spurs are focused on the first team XI signings now according to reports. I think we will get either an Eze or a Toney. If neither of those, then I'm actually pretty confident it will be Neto. I'm not sure though that Spurs will add everything we need this summer to the forward line because it's sort of our thing to love leaving ourselves a little short in an area. (Jack)
