That's voyeurism. I don't know other countries but in mine, it's considered as criminal offence (Singapore). A neighbour from across my apartment block once owned a camera which can literally zoom to view our side. Apparently he was able to stream the footage live. Scary world, we're living in.

@joseyrobinson144 exactly, and then that would be uploaded to KZbin and tiktok as "crazy Karen loses her mind!!!!" (assuming you're a woman based on your name and pfp). I get how the whole Karen thing started. Some entitled white women, causing real issues for people with their fake tears, calling the police because a little girl is selling lemonade or bottled water, or there are black kids in the apartment's pool area. But now it's just become so overused and sexist. And I can't fathom how these young people, often male tiktokers, who are behaving in an incredibly rude manner, filming people in shops or making an embarrassing scene just to catch the reactions of normal people, I don't get how they can't see that they are being the entitled jerks. People should be allowed to ask not to be filmed or to be blurred out.

When it comes to a person's lack of self-awareness, arrogance to film themselves doing something ridiculous/dangerous, or the audacity to film strangers for entertainment, it's because of 1 of 2 things: they don't know better or they just don't care. One thing people do not consider enough is that not everyone is safe to be posted online. If a video goes viral and someone who has hypothetically escaped something like DV is in the video, who’s to say that the perpetrator isn’t going to use the video to try and find the location. I’ve literally just had to report a video that was taken by some kids at my nieces school because it would be really unsafe for her to have her name and school out there in public. Unsafe for any kid, but especially those who are victims of past abuse.

There can be certain rules in regard to city ordinances, but for the most part, filming people in their home from a public space (street, park, sidewalk) is legal in the US. Is it morally okay? No. But basically, if you have a window you can see from a public area, it's legal to look and film. Something to keep in mind if you're windows are facing a street or park! You can't go around onto private areas to film, but if you're in a public area and you can see it, technically it is. Undisclosed cameras in a private area are of course a different matter. Unfortunately, our country is still woefully behind with laws and filming people and privacy.

Most are normal, standing and smiling in front of a nice place, but I’ve seen the occasional parent get really picky and make their poor 6 year old who obviously couldn’t give less of a crap retake the pictures again and again because they’re not getting the perfect angle for mom’s fckn insta post. Like let your kid enjoy traveling, traveling with your kid if anything should be about providing them with irreplaceable life experience and knowledge of the world. I think the world is in desperate need of the implementation and enforcement of new laws surrounding filming in public. I think all of us having an HD camera in our pockets is a recipe for disaster.

That is a violation of your reasonable expectation of privacy in your own home. To be recording into someone's home without consent is not legal, surely. Also, it's creepy! Stop that. Eww.

I am so buying blinds for my kitchen! One of my biggest fears is someone filming/taking pics of me dancing or singing while I’m making tea or doing the washing up…

The pole dancing one at the beach, I have a friend who does it and occasionally takes her pole to the beach to get professional photos taken with the amazing lighting and background, the shots are used both professionally and personally, she's the most down to earth human in the world, some times because we find it cringe doesn't necessarily mean it is.

Pole dancing has also evolved beyond being sexual in nature. It’s a lot more of an acrobatic sport and activity and more mainstream.

My mum recently told me about her cousin who lives in a tourist area, and she has dead ass had tourists standing in her garden filming her through her kitchen window! Grown adults, with no understanding of privacy, private property, or just social boundaries. So at least it’s not just influencers, I guess…?

It would be different (for socially appropriate related ones) if the people were actually considerate of the world around them. But UGH most of them are SO RUUUUDE. I was in Vegas this summer and a GROUP of them kept blocking traffic on the strip to try and do photos. Like, ignoring all the lights, and literally thousands of people and hundreds of cars. Absolute nightmare. 0 social propriety.

I have to admit the couples dancing together in their home is SO heart warming and beautiful. HOWEVER, that is THEIR romantic moment. While it is a beautiful moment, I would feel uncomfortable watching them, let alone posting it. That is horrible to intrude on their special moment. Even the couple on the beach, I mean it made me uncomfortable, to see kids recording the couple in a rather risque position. However, by recording the situation, it makes that person as bad as the couple, IMO. Although I LOVE the dog vid!! Not only was it the CUTEST, but it appeared as if they were in a less trafficked area and just having fun!! The girl changing on the sidewalk, is just wrong. I have had to change on the go, and I have used the back of my car, or even a public bathroom. There is NO reason to make a spectacle of yourself, especially where there is children, and then to post it to public. It was like she was trying to make the normal passerbyers look like they had a problem, or were prudish. Like the last one, I really don't have a problem with people shooting in public. I just think that there really should be consideration for the people going about their days. In the same way, I also don't think its appropriate when people go out of their way to interrupt someone shooting. Just like, I don't think its right to show irritation, when people are just naturally going in their shooting area. I think it boils down to main character syndrome. As long as no one is afflicted with this horrible disease, shooting in public could be easier for everyone.

The other day, I was asked by an "influencer" if I could not walk on the footpath! I asked where I was meant to walk, and was told, "Just walk on the road will you"! This person then turned to their friend and said, "OMG! How stupid can anyone be"?!! When I asked what she meant, she said, "Well, obviously, you have to walk on the road! Are you stupid or something"? Any Sydney-sider will tell you that it's not safe to walk on the road, when that road happens to be Canterbury Road !
