It has been two years since the coup in Myanmar returned the military junta to power. Persecution of dissidents and minorities continues in the reclusive country.
There have been reports of deadly force used to supress civilian protests, and the use of explosives and air raids against armed resistance. Over a million people are estimated to have been displaced by the violence.
But those who have fled Myanmar have not been welcomed by its ASEAN neighbours. Why has Malaysia deported thousands of refugees, even as they face persecution by the military junta?
