Rioting is usually a young man’s game, but we have seen men in their late sixties sent to prison in the aftermath of the recent disturbances.

87 here. Because the country we have known, loved, and which my father and uncles fought and died for has systematically been destroyed. The rot really setting in with Sir T Blair. Older people have witnessed the greatest change, and most are extremely angry.

I was just thinking about the generation who have witnessed the radical changes to their country in becoming less white. I am 51 but things are sure different from the 1970-80s when I grew up in Canada. Those younger than us are brain washed with wokeism will have no clue and will live in a society where they are discriminated and wiped out eventually.

Most of us ‘oldies’ have spent our lives working and paying taxes only to see what we have invested ourselves in being trashed by communities that dislike us and who on the whole take from a system they never invested in. The governments policy of encouraging illegal immigration is also increasingly irritating especially when they want to negate Englishness and to make other cultures dominant. No, we don’t expect things to be what they were but we do expect the government to protect our borders and effectively manage immigration.

One reason, and I say this as an eighty year old, is seeing all one has held dear and cherished quickly disappearing in front of your eyes. Being treated as a second class citizen in favor of illegal immigrants. Our winter fuel allowance ripped away to fund those who have barged into our country. Before I’m accused of being a racist, I’m in favor of legal immigration, we need to have a vibrant and hardworking population to survive in this modern world. One last moan, when I turned eighty, my pension was increased by 25p. I consider this to be an insult, it won’t even pay for the use of a public toilet! Then, of course, comrade Starmer cancels the fuel allowance.

The majority of rioters are young hooligans who are nether far left nor far right but are looking for some excitement. The reason an unusual number of old folk become involved is that the elderly can remember a Britain where everything from the postal service to the NHS worked much better than it does now, and that angers them, the Britain they loved has been taken from them. A further reason is that the police are sometimes provocative and overbearing, and turn what would otherwise be a peaceful demonstration into a riot.

It is rare that I disagree with Simon, but on this occasion I do so. It is not the closure of shops on the high street, it is not the shutting down of pubs, it is not that nothing at all can be done without tapping on a computer keyboard - or any such matter. It is the attack on and the loss of our English culture. The tolerant, friendly and sometimes eccentric social structure which seemed to flourish without any rules or regulations. That is what old people are angry about. losing. Old people believe, quite rightly, that this culture would be of immeasurable benefit to future generations - but it is being brutally killed off.
