i like when people use primarily natural colors but add an accent color to make it pop without overdoing the palette, a good example of this are raindeer fursonas with brown/white/gray as the base and (light) blue or turquoise as the accent(usually antlers, hooves, eyes, snouts, tongues, inside of the ear, spots or stripes, etc.) the blues are a nice node to the icy lands of animal's origin

Man, as someone who has a Blue Fursona, i always kinda cursed my young self picking Blue as a color for my Sona, it's something i felt a lot of guilt over. But, i always loved the look of the color blue, and you kinda laying it out on the table and explaining why Blue is such an important color, it makes me feel less of an imposter in a vast fandom and less anxious about my choice of being a Blue fox :D

I don’t understand the obsession with blue, truly. I just love warm things. Warm, autumn tones, or even bright yellow summery colors are my favorite. Even when it comes to the food I like, I like warm food with a comforting flavor. Cool colors feel harsh and cold to me, not soothing at all. I will always prefer warm, deep oranges and golden yellows over harsh, frigid blue. Maybe it’s because of my distaste for cold weather, or just because my preference for color is different, but I really do not understand why blue is such an intensely popular color.

For me, I feel the opposite. Warm colours are too intense and overwhelm me, almost claustrophobic in a metaphorical sense? They remind me of energy, large crouds and noise which is a negative feeling for me. It's possible you've come to associate blue with some negative ideas. For some people, blue can be an isolating, lonely, cold and uncomforting colour, so I can understand why some people can associate it negatively.

blue's my favourate colour, so i had to choose it for my main boy, plus i do have a canon reason for one colour choise but that is red, there's a band litterally called red so i incorperated it into his design, he has this thing called Crimson Infusion, this makes him turn purple mixing in both colours.

Most of my Fursonas are black in some way nowadays. I have so many that it’s hard to recall, but when I first joined the fandom, I had a blue and Orange fox. Blue is a calm color and I think it’s just a good color in general. I personally think it’s kind of funny and cute when someone has a blue fursona! It’s one of those harmless and fun stereotypes the furry fandom has attained.

Dude my fox hybrid Sona is a medium dark Orange blue and black. I made her unique as possible to me. There's so much blue wolf sonas in the fandom but they do make them look unique

Simply from the fact that blue is my favourite colour and that wolves are my favourite animal I would have confirmed it, if I ever actually created a fursona. I went for blue because I like the design of the Zinogre - which is a massive electric wyvern from Monster Hunter that just happens to look like a massive blue wolf X'D I use yellow (hair, additional fluff), red (symbolic detail) and green (eyes) as accent colours too. Ironically, my favourite colour isn't blue, it's actually green, so it's kinda funny that it's used the least.

I've always loved blue, and I have to admit that as soon as I see a fursuit that is blue, I find that fursuit to be a little extra beautiful. Despite this, I am right now having a fursuit of my own fursona commissioned, and I don't have a single detail on it that is blue. I am just black and white. I hope I will sometime in the future get a fursuit with blue details.

I actually ended up with a light turquoise blue goat Floofer out of convenience. My original design was based on mountain Dew Baja Blast, so teal was the main color. While I was at MFF last year I bought a set of turquoise blue and black paws, tail, leg warmers and bunny ears from Paw Star (Skillet is a satyr with natural shapeshifting and he has a bunny form). And while I was looking around the dealers den I found a booth for a fursuit maker in my budget range. I didn’t even hesitate to fill out a commission form and throw the rest of my money at them, lol. Apparently the maker gets the same fabric as Paw Stars, so I pulled up the ref sheet I was working on and recolored my goat boi. I immediately fell in love with the turquoise and black color palette on skillet, so that’s what I’m getting.

My fursona is blue and i love the colour since i was a kid. As to why i love it, it's really hard to describe. The closest i can think it's because of my personality, the memories of my childhood and freedom (sky). Heck, my oldest OC was MLP and it happen to be blue. My hobby is also stargazer and space so that also might explain why? That's all i remember.

I'm not sure if this is true or not, but when picking colors for art, green feels like it has the widest range of different shades. However, I feel like there are so many more unique shades of blue categorized than green or red. Like you can go from cyan to ocean blue to sky blue to #0000ff to indigo etc. but when it comes to green, each category blends together a bit more to me (like when does lemon turn to lime? when does lime turn to #00ff00?) and red goes from raspberry to #ff0000 to scarlet before it turns into orange or magenta. But I think this depends on the person. For example, some people think turquoise is green! Which makes sense, but it just means our categorizations are different. All this to say, I feel like there are more options for "blue" fursonas. (A quick look at fursuit supplies proves this as well... 20 types of blue faux fur, 10 green, and 5 red! I wonder if this is due to demand though..?) Great video btw, and love your suit! The lighting you're using highlights the blueish faux fur well.

I honestly really love blue so much. It's a very comfortable colour. I've always wanted to put blue on my sona, but didn't want it to be the primary colour, as I feel it would look too bright. I wanted to balance out a duller colour with a brighter one, so I used a grey with a bluish hue, and added some dark grey, white and blue accents. I wanted the eyes to stand out the most, so I used a bright, sky blue for that; it also matches my irl eye colour, which works even better. I was actually afraid that my 'sona would merge too much into every other bright blue character if I just chose all blues, so I wanted to break that up a little and add some different colours to tone it down a bit.

"Anthropomorphic animals," while probably technically accurate, is something I've been thinking about lately in regards to the fandom. I don't actually think we tend to make animals with human traits so much as the other way around. When we design our characters, we make people and then give them trappings of animals we like, but at their core they are still people first and foremost. Just kinda spurred from your comment that the reasons are very human reasons. Figured I'd share.

I have two main sonas, a border collie and a skunk, my skunk is Almost natural colors but is more charcoal/purple types of blacks and whites. And my border collie is also more natural colors but his paws and nose are pink/ baby blue, I love that color combo and wanted cute speckled bits to add as a small highlight. I feel I overall love natural colors with small colorful hightlights bc when translated design wise, is the most aestheticlly pleasing to me My first ever sona was a snow leapard/snow owl hybrid but I dropped it pretty fast, my border collie has been with me the longest and even transitioned with me

All of my sonas have had mainly brown/reddish brown colors in recent times. However, since my favorite color is blue, I include a shad of blue in some form. For example, my current sona, Raine, is a natural color shark-fox hybrid with markings under her eyes and tail, her fin, and her claws being a light shade of blue. Though, I had a few blue sonas when I was younger during my Pokémon and animal jam phases.

Fun fact: My fursona is probably the most unquiqe, since hes related in DNA. Hes basically a weird blue one eyed jello. Basically, he is an animal. Hes like a tofu-shark without a tail, with one eye, and without any animal parts. Hes also known as the "elemental guardian" who protects furries (only the good ones) and uses his elemental powers. Like making fire if others need, but he also have the ability to shoot acid, hide in shadow world, etc. His name is Gabo. (Btw everyone who says im a kid, im 17. Idc who finds this cringe.)

I would to add: 1. blue is often associated with the sky and thus blue is reflected on bodies of water. Blue skies often are with calm weather and daytime so it could also be associated with safety (versus the dark of night or heavy storms). 2. blue is very easy to work with. It is a bit harder to mess up a blue color scheme versus more finicky colors like orange and yellow. Blue plays nice with many colors, including yellow and orange and work very well with tying a color scheme together. Of course, yellow and orange are great colors but in a design, more considerations are needed for those colors to work very well, especially when they are the main color. Cooler colors often are easier on the eyes. My eyes get tired when staring at red, for example. Most shades of blue don't really tend to strain my eyes (granted, blue light is bad for when trying to sleep. Also very bright blue can easily burn to look at as well).

While water may not absorb light the way pigments do it does actually scatter red light, turning large volumes a faint blue. It's somewhat similar to the effect that makes the sky blue. So while technically clear it does turn light passing through it blue.

Blue is just a really cool color. Has the presence of black while being a brighter color. It is a great contrast to many more colors than red, or yellow are, that doesn't demand attention to itself. It's a much less "agressive" color than red or yellow, while still being a strong color. And blue is a very rare color to see in nature.

My sona (an oposum) started with somewhat natural colors for most of the fur and some blue markings and blue eyes. after a while I decided to change the colors and use darker shades of gray than the original design for most of the fur, and changed the blue markings and eyes to a shade of purple, why? idk, I just started liking the purple color recently, i also gave my sona a purple scarf reather than a blue bandana. My point being, just use the colors you like, or the ones that are better for the design in your opinion.

My sona is only barely tinted blue. Yea, it looks gray, but it's a gray with a small amount of blue in it. The highlights are a mix of teal and cyan. I knew blue was popular but dang. If i could make a costume of her i would, but i kniw it would ve difficult to put in the highlight colors as i want them to be.

hilariously, since my start to making any sort of animal character of myself was mid-2000s warrior cats rp, where unnaturally colored sparklecats were relentlessly mocked, my first instinct is still to stick to naturalistic patterns! xD so far all my sonas still fall overall inside or just barely outside of what's possible irl, which has made me stand out a lil bit
