I just think Hollywood believes, deep in their heart; that they’re the only medium that matters. They believe completely that books, plays, games and comics all exist purely to pass a test to maybe be made into a movie. And if it’s an eastern movie, Russian, Spanish, anywhere other than America; it exists to be made into an American version.

Fun fact: resident evil was originally given to George A. Romero. He had an assistant sit down and play the game, while he took notes. Unfortunately Anderson's company bought the rights from capcom and so it never got farther than a rough manuscript.

Nah, it wasn't total trash but far too many people in it, not claustrophobic enough. It felt like an action horror a lot of the time - watch Jacob's Ladder and some David Lynch stuff, that's what Silent Hill was inspired by.

Yeah honestly that seems pretty reasonable to me. Creating movies is a business first and foremost. Do you think they're making a Mario movie because they have an incredible idea for a Mario movie? Or is it more likely they're making a Mario movie because they've run out of ideas and just want to make easy money? They gave it to a studio who pretty much guarantees big box office return. Who cares if the movie is actually good? Again, it's a Mario movie.

Not saying Ghibli isn't an AMAZING studio but... 1. Ghibli disbanded (or is about to shut down, can't remember) 2. They specialize in 2D movies. Mario has mainly been in 3D games for years, and all of the recent main Mario games have been breathtaking visually. Not saying Ghibli can't come up with something visually breathtaking, but I think the traditional style of ghibli wouldn't fit the Mario aesthetic. (plus have you seen the images of the new 3D ghibli movie??? YEESH)

It’s probably the best of the serious video game movies I’ve watched. The lore dump coming at the end to explain everything is still extremely clumsy storytelling, but it’s at least interesting enough that you want to make it to that. Also, it’s one of the few movies Sean Bean survives.

Gans needed one more week to shoot the originally planned ending which was really ambitious but he had accumulated delays throughout shooting the movie and they refused to give him one more week and instead had him rewrite and shoot the ending in a day. Also Sean Bean wasn’t made to be in the movie at all, that’s why his character is useless and doesn’t die xD the producers forced Gans to put a male character in the movie because there were only females aside from pyramid head except the movie was already in the middle of production. They threatened to pull back and not to release his film in the US if he did not so he did. All and all with what he was given he did really well.

Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within comes to mind. Its not based on any of the FF games but was made by Sakaguchi. Its not an amazing movie by any stretch, but i am pretty found of it. It was pretty groundbreaking for its time with computer animation.

Oh, Street Fighter, it was so bad it ended up good. 95% of that was Raul Julia being a complete boss at acting (his final role, he took it so his kids could have a nice holiday with him before he died of cancer), 4% was trying to convince me that Kylie Minogue was, for my amusement, a good fit for Cammy and the rest was having enough cheese poured on me I thought I was fondue. Something else I find hilarious was that Chung Li was played by Ming-Na Wen in that movie, she also played Melinda May in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. (she over 50 and looks like she has a Dorian Gray deal in that TV show).
