@Perry, here I am making the same statement you did two years ago. I only came across Dr. Lennox two days ago and cannot get enough of this guy. I have been saved since I was old enough to understand what it meant when I was 6 years old and this guy presents answers to some hard questions I have had since that age. Not so much things I didn't know, but his perspective make so much clear sense; far better explained than any of my previous pastors or influences. Do you agree that It is pure hypocrisy to claim a God created precious life and also thank God for creating cows, lamb, and chicken for us to take their precious life away and eat them? 2- Do you agree that you thanking an invisible God for choosing you to have good health while hundreds of handicapped babies were ignored by God, the very same minute you were born, is the show of your utmost narcissism and ignorance which make you believe you are special in your delusional mind?

The bible makes clear Jesus is truth, the scriptures are truth, the Holy Spirit was given and his promise is to reveal Jesus to us. So that means truth. The bible also states several times God is not a respecter of persons which is such a wonderful statement. That means God uses us based on how much we surrender our lives to him.

@@mandalorian957 Creation points to an immaterial spaceless timeless powerful intelligence. Buddhism and Hinduism don't try to explain creation, they assume the material universe is eternal (which is debunked by cosmology). Plus, buddhism cannot explain love since it claims the self is an illusion (if that were true we couldn't know it). Hinduism claims you and I are gods, too. That would mean that evil people are gods, that doesn't make a lot of sense since there are objective moral values... "All matter originates and exists only by virtue of a force... We must assume behind this force the existence of a conscious and intelligent Mind." Max Planck The evidence is: the beginning of the universe, the striking harmony between math and nature, DNA (is a digital code, like software), consciousness and free will. Finally, there is strong historical evidence that Jesus Christus rose from the dead. The first Christians were all Jews and Jews would never worship a human as God, let alone a crucified one. The crucifixion was regarded as utter defeat and humiliation, even as curse. Something extraordinary must have happened. And Jesus was worshipped as God right from the start, as we know from Paul's letters. Infact, nobody would make up a God who became human and WASHED THE FEET OF HIS DISCIPLES. You cannot oppress anyone if you take Jesus' words seriously. Archaeology is very fascinating, too. It has confirmed lots of things mentioned in the New Testament, like the historicity of Pontius Pilate, the highpriest Caiaphas, the pool Bethesda etc. You are not an accident but a masterpiece. Loved more than you can imagine.

A noted writer, Charles Krauthammer, once said that God was necessary in life because "The nations that believe in NOTHING, are capable of ANYTHING", and historically this seems to be very true. Whether it be Lenin, Mao, Castro, and even Hitler (who once said "Christianity is a sickness"), it never ceases to astound me how the atheist or agnostic could ever find moral highgrounds in saying that a universe that consists of nothing, and everything amounts to zero; even if it were the case, to insist that it is so and that all human feeling, emotion, sentiment, etc is nothing more than chemicals and DNA and hormones, its a slippery slope to go down. Have we NOT learned from the turn of the 20th century when Neo-Darwinian attitudes brought forth eugenics? Have we NOT learned from those dark eras of our recent past where tens of millions were imprisoned, enslaved, murdered, sterilized, etc because they were deemed "mentally defective" for believing in religion? Have we NOT learned from the Holocaust, when Darwinist ideals insisted that certain people of certain stock with certain conditions and attributes was a drain on the progression of mankind and evolution as a whole? As C.S. Lewis stated so beautifully and eloquently, "If the universe has no meaning, we should have NEVER found out that it has no meaning: just as if there were no light in the universe and therefore no creatures with eyes, we should never know it was dark. Dark would be without meaning." Of course an atheist will say to me "Too bad, just because you want it to not be true doesn't make it not true!", but the same applies in the reverse.... Because even if one found out that life could come from inaminate matter, and that particles could seemingly come from nowhere, it still doesn't take away the God question because the question of WHERE did it slip from nothingness to somethingness still applies.... It still doesnt answer the question as to where INFORMATION and INTELLIGENCE and CONSCIOUSNESS came from, because even the most skilled biologist and neurologist and chemist cannot answer by physical means how it comes about....Neither does it answer the fine tuning of the universe being so perfectly in order, and neither does it answer how come our universe has any sort of rational inteligibility to it (the fact we can measure it, find order within it, etc) because the fact remains you CANNOT find structure and order within chance chaos; and we have found that even in "apparent chaos", the further back you move to see the big picture, the more we find order and patterns. What I find odd is how people can say "I dont believe in God, but I do believe in aliens brought life here to this planet," when that in no way, shape or form answers the question of WHERE the aliens came from, how they came about, or how the universe came about. I find it odd people can say, "I don't believe in God, but I believe in the Multiverse", when really its the equivilant of religion because the Multiverse says those universes are unobservable to us because they are traveling at a speed beyond lightspeed---- which is our only means to observe the stars, galaxies, etc. so if it can NEVER be seen, therefore is it NOT in the same realm as religion and God (as the atheists insists, because it cannot be observed?), and further still, if there were an infinite number of universes with all these infinite probabilities and outcomes and laws, then SOMEWHERE exists a universe where an all knowing, all powerful God does exist---- and because He is all powerful and all knowing, He's aware of this universe of ours anyways, so He's God over all of them. So what is the point in arguing the Multiverse? You just gave ammunition for God's existence without realizing it. Our understanding of the universe, and all things within it (life, etc) is so limited that it absolutely astounds me that people are so quick to declare "I KNOW THERE IS NO GOD", when in reality we are not really all that removed from the likes of Newton, Galileo, etc. in the intelligence department. Where have we really advanced? Newton already said it was possible to send satellites into orbit in his own time. All we have done is proven it by doing it. Some medical advances here and there, but hell even in the stone age they performed brain and heart surgeries (don't believe me, read up on the Mayans and Aztecs, this did indeed occur). The point is, how high and mighty can we really be? We're no closer to answers than we were centuries or even millenia ago in the grand scheme of things. So, lets get down to brass tax..... Atheists have no more answers than the Theists on the issue.... and atheists have no real moral highground in their belief that everything matters to nothing: no good, no evil, we all just dance to our DNA and nothing more. So how can an atheist be philosophical? You can't. So how can an atheist be spiritual? You can't. So how can an atheist be loving, caring, sincere, committed, etc? You can't. Not if you really do believe you are NOTHING but the product of an accident, and nothing really matters, and it all boils down to materialism. There is no such thing as love, no such thing as hate, no such thing as ideals and morals and ethics, etc. And because they profess this all is true.... then they cannot use moral, emotional arguments against God or anyone else for that matter, so they have to resort to their science for answers.... and as I already pointed out, there is no answers. What a hopeless, piss poor, sad, pathetic existence when you really think about it. No answers to anything, no purpose to anything but to fuck and die.... Who would want to live in such a world as senseless, careless, fruitless, as that?

It always strikes me how Dr Lennox is so down to earth , affable and approachable , and above all , humble, in contrast to the arrogance of the likes of Dawkins and Hitchens who tend to sneer at people for believing that there's a reason for our existence and believing that we and the universe were created. And I say this as an agnostic.

You will have eternal life.** **Please Say this Simple prayer for salvation...."God, I recognize that I have not lived my life for You up until now. I have been living for myself and that is wrong. I need You in my life; I want You in my life. I acknowledge the completed work of Your Son Jesus Christ in giving His life for me on the cross at Calvary, and I long to receive the forgiveness you have made freely available to me through this sacrifice. Come into my life now, Lord. Take up residence in my heart and be my king, my Lord, and my Savior. You can not eliminate gravity by not believing in gravity. The irony is that Atheists ask for extraordinary proof that Christ was the Son of God and yet when we present them with one - the Resurrection - suddenly they claim it's too incredible to believe.
@SamIAm-kz4hg

superapex21 "the Resurrection" The proof for "the resurrection" is the same as that for Spiderman. I don't need to believe HIGHLY UNSUBSTANTIATED CLAIMS in an old book. I think you really don't understand what we mean by "extraordinary proof". A note from your mom might be fine to show that you were at the dentist, but to use something similar to prove your god, is pretty laughable. "suddenly they claim it's too incredible to believe" There is nothing sudden about it. It comes the fact that other religions ALSO try to bring in notes from their mom. Are you aware that the vast majority of civilizations in the world make similar claims? We call them mythologies. BTW, the Bible also contains stories like Noah and the Ark. Do you know that we have "extraordinary proof" that entire civilizations and all sorts of life on earth simply seemed to go on as if there was no flood? Are you ALSO aware of the logistical impossibilities that arise in this story? "too incredible" No. It is too incredible to take seriously. Only really ignorant people are able to not see this, and are capable of believing. What a pile of nonsense. And John Lennox is one of the worst offenders. He spends the vast majority of his time making cute analogies and telling stories. His arguments are bad ones. The fact that he's a mathematician keeps getting spewed as if it means something. It doesn't. He has NEVER used his math training for any arguments I have ever seen him make. Just like I don't parade around that I am a great trumpet player. It makes no difference to the argument. I also find it funny that "comments are disabled" for a great may of his videos. If you can't see what that means, then I understand why you believe in laughable nonsense. We need this older generation of idiots to die out.

There is ample proof out there to convince anyone endowed with reason that God not only created the universe but also redeemed us and is ASSISTING WHOEVER CALLS UPON HIM TO DO GOOD. All of your 'arguments' have been addressed over and over again throughout history - there is nothing new under the sun. You do not believe primarily because you do not wish to believe and you do not wish to believe because you feel unworthy of God and incapable of being good. But there is no reason for this: you see, God's mercy is infinite and so is the help he gives us to do good through the Holy Ghost. Understand? The help the Holy Ghost will provide us to do good is INFINITE. Which is why God really IS good and whoever does not follow his commands is... well in a hard spot morally speaking.
@SamIAm-kz4hg
@SamIAm-kz4hg 6 жыл бұрын
superapex21 "All of your 'arguments' have been addressed over and over again throughout history.": This does not constitute an argument. Please try again and make a valid case for god, and then for YOUR god. So far your "argument" is a failure. "You do not believe primarily because you do not wish to believe" Please lay out your reasoning for coming to this conclusion. Without reasoning I can claim that you simply shit that idea out of your ass. This kind of claim (which I've heard before) is something I commonly call arrogant stupidity. Please feel free to disprove me. So far you are 0 for 2. By the way, the same could be said of you regarding all of the gods you DON'T believe in. You don't believe in Zeus because you don't want to believe. "you do not wish to believe because you feel unworthy of God and incapable of being good" You haven't even told me what god YOU believe in. Which one of the hundreds and hundreds is your favorite? The reason I don't believe in any god is because no one has ever been able to show that there is A god or that THEIR god is real. I invite you again to tell me about your god. No matter what, at most only about 30% of the people in the world agree with you. "God's mercy is infinite and so is the help he gives us to do good through the Holy Ghost. Understand?" This conversation, as I suspected, is going down the toilet. The question is not about understanding. The question is why should I believe a claim you make? Understand? "The help the Holy Ghost will provide us to do good is INFINITE." No evidence or reasoning given. "Which is why God really IS good and whoever does not follow his commands is... well in a hard spot morally speaking." This is called a logical fallacy. One statement does not lead to the next one. And when it comes to morals, it is actually religious people who are "in a hard spot". And I will do something now called "giving proof" which seems to be a new concept to you. Religious people are OVER represented in prisons. And countries that are less religious tend to be better in almost all measurable ways. They tend to have better education, less crime, lower infant mortality, better social programs... These are things you can go look up. We might want to part ways here. You seem incapable of even the most basic of logical reasoning. And I will likely be frustrated by your simple claims, and lack of understanding regarding how reasoning works. So far you have been everything I expected. You make simplistic claims and you give no reasoning for anything. We teach students in grade nine that they need to give reasoning. Surely you're past grade nine. Yes? Did you want to resubmit your post and this time provide me with reasoning for every claim you make? I will not simply take your word for things, because EVERY religion says their god is the right one. And there are HUNDREDS of gods. Is this clear to you?

superapex21 "I don't have time for this - which does NOT make you right." Then why are you here? If you want to spew, be aware that some of us will question your spewing. You should be prepared to back up what you believe, even if it is only in your own head. You don't seem to have done so, and appear to randomly believe something without a shred of reasoning. If you had any, you would have provided some. You gave none. In the time it took you to write your second last post, you could have provided reasoning. So I call bullshit on "I don't have time for this." That is called being intellectually lazy. And you mean to tell me that you use religion as a guiding force in your life, yet you don't have the time to think through whether it is right or not? Really? I've spent time on this because to me it IS important to know what is truthful or not. If you don't have time for this, then you fit in with all of the other smart but intellectually lazy people I know. It is disgraceful. Have you at least read the Bible?

I agree, our biggest relationship of all, is with our Divine Father-friend! What most people don't quite get yet, is that God is not the one who judges us, (that would be the Ancients of Days), so all fears of God "judging us" are poorly founded. They do not indicate how much our Divine Father-friend really loves us. What I wish everyone would understand (admittedly a tall order), is that our Father's love for us is infinite. It is so strong, it destroys our sins. Our Father craves a close, intimate, loving, relationship with us, as his children. Calling him "Dad" is in the direction we need to go.

Of all the worldviews that one countenances around the world ,Christianity stands out . And it is not because of its grand theological trajectory in relation to the others , but because of its simplest imperative message that God loves you regardless of who you are, and He wants to restore His image in you because you were created divine . You are infinitely divine .Meaning of life remains incomplete and illusive unless one has that experience of being created divine. Every age has its St Paul to clear the smokescreen of intellectual confusion . Last century saw CS Lewis ,and this century we have John Lennox.

In several scriptures Jesus makes it clear.. "The Father is greater than I am".. "Pray to the Father" (vs Jesus saying to pray to him)......When a man approaches Jesus and addrresses him with "Good teacher".. Jesus reply is this, "Why do you call me good, and that only the Father is good".. When Jesus was on earth, he prays to the Father..(why would he pray to himself?).. Before Jesus raised Lazarus by the Father, hecprays outloud, so they all could hear him pray to the Father.. These are as few that come to mind at random but makes the point.. When you study by reading more than once or twice, but committing to developing an understanding over all you will learn much, and following Jesus life, you will kbow the difference between Father and Son... Why not read, When one goes to college or specialized learning, people make a commitment to not only take note but to really learn something. . Same with the scriptures. Timothy, Paul's scribe and friend was writing to the church in Corinth. What must be remembered in this letter and this passage is the context. Corinth was a part of the world at that time that had a fertility goddess. Specific women ran the churches of this goddess and were basically ruling over everyone in this community. What Timothy and Paul are advising is not the subjugation of women but rather the equal in value of the sexes. Many times Paul has been made out to be a sexist he is not,mostly through picking half of a passage and not continuing. That wives should submit to their husbands. Of course, the very next line is "And husbands submit to your wives."

If your highest imaginable good is longevity, then I can definitely see how this would be problematic. Of course, if you had watched Dr. Lennox or read anything except the "skeptics verses" of the Bible, you would see that , we believe that longevity is not the highest good but rather being in relationship with God. In the Christian belief system those children would immediately be in the presence of God and they would be saved a fate worse than a short life. A life completely and utterly separated from the only thing that makes their existence worthwhile and fulfilled in an eternal sense. Now it seems to me that you don't really wish to have a serious discussion,but rather you would like to bring up all the internet mumbo jumbo half truths and half read passages of the Bible. Is there anything I could say to convince you otherwise? I highly doubt it. And having read and studied the Book extensively over many years, it is highly unlikely that you could convince me otherwise either. I respect your viewpoint and thank you for your time. Yes, you're absolutely correct. They believed with their lips but not with their hearts, since they're yet to be given the Holy Spirit when Jesus breathed on them after the resurrection. The word "Holy Spirit" in the original Greek Bible is "Dunamis," which is became "Dynamite" in English. It's "Kaboom" in reverse. "For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9) (con)

If you have never before accepted Jesus Christ as your Savior, the Holy Spirit is with you. He is the One who draws you to God and convicts you of sin. If you have accepted Jesus, then the Holy Spirit is inside you. But He wants to come upon you, as well, to give you the power to live the Christian life, and to serve Him in a fruitful way. Don't stop short of all that God has for you. Ask for the power of the Spirit to come upon you and to stay upon you. God bless...

To me, it's not whether there is a God or not, it is the definition of God. I believe that God is that silent presence in deep sleep.
