Yeah, it's called "bait and switch". They draw you in with the family friendly Christian-themed movies and once you're hooked, they switch to what they originally intended to show.

Mea Culpa is the mess that happens when one desperate movie maker who doesn't listen to people sits down to write a movie without thinking about it, then produce and direct all by himself without having any input from others. The movie feels like something made out of desperation. I believe Mr Perry is too cheap to pay good Writers and good Actors. I love Kelly Rowland a whole lot, but her acting was heavily underwhelming, and sometimes unnecessarily dramatic. I don't think Tyler Perry really cares about making great movies... He cares about movie quantity and keeping most of his profits to himself.

I remember when TP began. I said in room full of Black female coworkers who had put on one of his plays during lunch break, that I didn't like his work. I became enemy #1 after that. The looks in their faces were as if I had blasphemed.

The name of this movie should have been Madness because that’s exactly what it was. I have more questions than answers. Whose blood and skull fragments were found in the painting if Heidy was alive? Why is there a sex dungeon in the basement of the loft? Where is all the money going if Mom is faking the cancer diagnosis? Mea and Zyair have no chemistry. The script is horrendous. I thought the sex scene would have been more than what it was. Kal’s villainous switch up was laughable and so was the car accident. The ending felt rushed. Mr. Perry needs to stick to Madea movies.

I almost fell out of my chair when I saw this movie. There was no reason for Tyler to be this raunchy. The dungeon scene was totally unnecessary, as well as the other scene with the other naked woman.He missed an opportunity to make this move great, it had so much potential. Tyler, please get back to who you really are. I think Kelly did good, and her hair, makeup and wardrobe was fire.

If I had to choose the lesser of two evil, I'd choose A Fall From Grace, because, at least, AFFG had a character to root for. None of the characters in Mea Culpa were real or likeable. They're all cartoonishly stupid or evil. Somehow, Tyler managed to make a lead that was an idiot and left nobody to root for. She was insufferable. This was, hands down, his worst movie, without even mentioning the innumerable plotholes.

The characters were flat, unrealistic and unlikeable. Nothing about the movie made sense. The Zayr guy was totally unattractive to me, gosh 😂How did she fall for that? Who is accused of murder (with possible death penalty) and is just trying to sleep with his lawyer? The in-laws were like cartoon characters. The whole movie is a caricature. So lame.

I actually loved the movie. Hated some of the acting especially when the Hubbie asked Mea ‘Did you F*** him?’ 🫠🫠🫠apart from that I loved the suspense and didn’t expect the whole family to be so twisted.

Some actors do challenge what the writers write, while some have been successful in getting the changes made (Jenna Ortega - Wednesday). From my understanding, they are allowing her to help with writing the second season. She did NOT like the romantic scenes for her character so I suspect we won’t be seeing this going forward. Others have not been so lucky (Edward Norton - Hulk), they did not allow him to reprise his role as the Hulk and in fact, MCU ended up getting Mark Ruffalo to do the role for their remaining movies. Which is a shame because Edward Norton is an AMAZING actor.

Lets have a discussion about the intimate 'paint scene' which lacked depth, passion or any real substance. A swift paintbrush on the cheek, and a 5-minute session, which led me to believe he's a 2-minute brother. Not to mention, he didn't 'wash up' after the last woman. Yuck! A REAL good love scene was a movie based in DC called "Really Love"... Both s*x scenes were beautiful! Tyler may need some pointers. He is still a horrific director. No evolution, no progress.

Tyler Perry should stick to renting out his studios for other TV and movie production to film there instead of him producing TV shows and movies. I watched it last night & had several takes on the film that in my opinion is worst than a tubi movie: 1.) The 2 main characters are terrible actors. 2.) There was basically no plot 3.) The sex scene is absolutely terrible [ who fantasizes about having sex in paint] 4.) So then after a terribly acted movie the finale is so out there that it's laughable [ this woman who weighs 100 lbs soaking wet beats the hell out of 2 men & leaves without a scratch]
