I don't think it's a joke. People have mentioned the Douglas Adams book but it's possible that the way he pronounces the word occurs because of where he lives. I've heard him pronounce other words that begin with the letters TH as if they were an F before. You can hear it in other videos if you listen carefully. Also, I've seen other videos featuring people from Lancashire England, and they also pronounce the TH sound as an F.

You don't have to be in the social media or read fashion magazines to have low self-esteem. If you're told on a regular basis that you're ugly, you start believing it. I had to go through that my entire teenaged years. I wasn't that overweight, but people told me I was fat and ugly, and after a while, I started believing it. There were other reasons people thought I was unattractive: my clothes were unattractive, I wore glasses, I didn't wear makeup. My mother wasn't any help: she would tell me about clothes she thought were attractive, and then I got teased. For that reason, I don't turn to her for fashion inspiration.

Oh, that's quite sad actually. If I was in your place with my low self esteem, I wouldn't do any better. Thankfully no one cares about my redondant and simple clothes (except my mother sometimes because she wants me to wear dresses or whatever, and that I don't have that many choices of clothes. But quite frankly if I have money, I prefer buying and indulge in my hobbies rather than paying clothes). No one really commented on my physic except my mother once again because I have a little belly, and one other friend who thought I ressembled a squirrel or whatever. I never wear makeup, too much effort and to be honnest depressive people like me don't take time in dressing up in general. When I'm forced to do so, I'm embarrassed and hope people don't judge me.I wored glasses a few times in my primary school too, but not now. I'm lucky to have a mother that buy clothes that I like even if I'm not here when she choose . People always tells you to ignore the others thoughts and that you're fine the way you are, but in reality there will always be people that can't stand others judgemental eyes and are far too emotional to follow the advice. That's human beings nature, there will always be people who likes rabaissing others, and if you're different than them it's a crime. You should embrasse yourself but I know how difficult it really is. Easier said than done. I hope you can, one day, be happy and free from these chains. You deserves it. The more you are being yourself, the more genuine it will feel, and I know that there will always be people who likes others like that. Good luck!

Michal, a few years ago I visited Helsinki and took a trip to Suomenlinna Island, a world heritage site. I like the idea of wabi-sabi. One of my cats, Sunny, was having trouble being adopted because he was considered "ugly", as he was tortured by a group of evil teens, and left with permanent disfiguration. He's missing an ear, has a wonky foot, a misaligned jaw, and only half a tail. However, he's perfectly healthy, happy and in no way hindered by his injuries. I fell in love with him because of his appearance and personality combined. He has such a sunny disposition (hence his name) and is so loving and trusting if humans despite what he suffered through. He's purrrrfectly imperfect and a total ray of sunshine. On another note, I wonder if kintsugi is related to wabi-sabi?

When I was in the best shape of my life, like i worked out everyday hard, super lean, abs and everything, I would look at Instagram models and think dang I got a lot more work to do. I was completely unaware of things like Facetune and that ppl would go through the trouble of photoshopping their photos. It’s stoped me from appreciating the level of fitness I had achieved, it was the same level as these models but I couldn’t see it even if others could because I was comparing my self to something that wasn’t real. I still workout but I barely bother with social media and I’m happier for it. I like having beautiful fit women as a source of inspiration but I want the truth, reality, not photoshopped fantasy.

I’ll be honest it was hard at first cause I was just left with not knowing what to do to pass time. However life has been soo much calmer and better for me, not exactly happy but better than I was 2 years prior. I hate how I look. But this video made me feel not so bad. Either way, it does not matter how many times people say you're beautiful (like in the case of models), you'll always look down at yourself until a moment where you learn to love yourself. I'm still waiting for that moment. Your opinion is the only opinion that should matter to you.

Same here. I'm convinced I'm ugly even if people compliment me about my looks from time to time. I can't seem to believe them for some reason, I keep seeing more and more proof of me being ugly and that makes me very insecure. It's a bad spot to be in because it cripples you badly in work, study, relations.. Luckily there are ways of getting out of this circle, the easiest one is focusing on doing more stuff, learning new skills, practicing a hobby, just getting busy in general helps forget about your insecurities. Also you should check Neuro Linguistic Programming. It's hard to explain what it is about and wikipedia doesn't really say kind words about it. I can only say that I've read a lot of books about it and it has helped me a lot with overcoming my insecurities in the years. I still have a lot of work to do though. Also, a thing I've realized is how people are focused on themselves, on their own insecurities, on their imperfections. They don't even notice your "ugliness" or "imperfections", and even if they do, they don't care because the center of their attention is themselves. Sooo yeah, everyone is concerned about their own issues, what a shocker

i almost put choked on my coffe when the tv in my background said that one of those kardashians took about 300 or so photos to get 1 selfie. i dont think that is dedication to whatever she belives she actually does but just proof of how seriously sick and broken her mind has become. Selfies and other similar things are as addictive as any drug and far more accessible to which one can feed ones addiction just about all the time around the clock. i mean there are ppl out there that get panic attacks just because the internet is down. Take a look at an addict and realise what you have become if you feel the need to constantly upload that perfect picture

My friend is very very insecure with her glass body whenever she see models in instagram, not considering the fact that shes already underweight. This is very dangerous to the three of us. We hate the fact that shes already pretty and she think that she is very fat and very thin and even considering herself for a gluthathione injection. I dont take hold of her life but I'm concern of the after effect she gets from gluthathione (cancer for long exposure). She even lure me of injecting one because she thought my brown skin is ugly. I dont know how damage she was by the "PERFECT BODY"- instagram-MODELS-mentality do to her but one thing for sure was it affects our relationship. Her narcissistic behaviour and obsession in having followers, posting all our food pics and not being private about her life started getting a tool for our relationship. She hates her body, her skin, her height and her pimples not even considering how we feel (my other friend and I) as a peach-body type girl who was only 4'9 (she's taller) and our other friend who is 90 kg and who has pimples too. I don't think i could ever change her but if she cant accept who we are as her friends then it's over.

Quit social media and experience enlightenment! I used to obsess over my looks that i spent thousands-on make up, fashion websites, and creams that did boost my confidence but made me feel pathetic. Why do i need to wear uncomfortable clothes again to feel sexy? Why do i need to put uncomfy make up? Why? So i can post on instagram and fb? So people think im better than them? All of those are so pathetic. I am very lucky that i finally realized just how much people dont actually care. And how i should cut off people who only incite feelings of envy and vanity. It is highly refreshing. Now, i still feel ugly sometimes but guess what? That is okay! I strive to live neat, healthy, and proud of my natural assets- never letting anyone dictate how i should look. And it feels so liberating!

well you need to look sexy to make a dick of the guy you like to rise up and make him interested in you ;) Alternatively, you need to look beautiful to make your narcissist abuser control freak boyfriend proud of you in front of other people. either way you need to look beautiful to make men interested in you If you are frigid and feminist then, of course, your looks do not matter at all. I appreciated this video. I thought it was gonna be another one of those “don’t go by looks (((:” lectures, but it gave true insight on appreciating both beauty and imperfections That said, I will say, sometimes looks.......sadly still matter at times. I say this because...I’ve tried “giving it a chance” to women I wasn’t fully attracted to, and....just can’t feel anything. Granted, it could certainly be their personalities that didn’t excite me, but...”don’t go by looks” simply doesn’t always work (I know that’s not exactly what he’s saying, but I still wanted to throw this out there)

I think the reason youtube scored positive in that test is because there are so many minecraft youtubers with shitty lives, that we look good in comparison

Minecraft's actually a great game, with a great community of people, but I see what you're saying.

They earn a hell of a ton of money and they are enjoying the game they are playing, that doesn't sound too "shitty" to me

Dude, I honestly love that you put the advertisements in your videos. I for the life of me don't understand how people can not see the great value in this channel having a sponsor which keeps the content flowing. People crying over this are so ungrateful. .. they literally just have to sit 30 seconds through it and move on while enjoying a video that costs nothing out of their own pocket but does cost money somewhere in the chain that makes this accessible. Thanks for the video, I enjoyed it, even the advertisement and I'm actually considering buying a subscription.

This is so motivational for me. I have a rather androgynous, or maybe even neutral face. I'm a female who have been mistaken a lot as a guy. I don't indulge in makeup, because I used to find it a waste of time, because people will see your real face sooner or later anyway. I only started liking the idea of trying it out after a guy told me to see my face as a canvas. My face is a bit round and not that defined.. My cheek can literally hide parts of my face, and someone said my nose look a bit too big. Well, I wasn't born to be a default game character. I have met people who like my looks but it has usually been other autistic people, because we don't and probably won't roll society's way anyway. It's too annoying, and many things society does is kinda useless too. I find perfection disgusting anyway. I don't really believe faces are truly symmetric. Just accept imperfection, because true perfection doesn't even exist. Striving for something that doesn't even exist... Sounds like many people are rather delusional to be honest.. I happen to be autistic too. We don't judge others based on their appearance, because we know how irrelevant it can actually be. If you see a group of people who look like they don't belong together, then you might be looking at friends who all happen to have autism, and not giving a single frick about how it doesn't match up to the other friends. You wear what you like to wear, and I wear what I want to wear. The end. No problems. No drama. No stupidity. Well, some autistic people have been influenced by others and become rather judgemental.. I feel sad for them for that reason. But now I have just found out that I have been following the Wabi-Sabi way of thinking my whole life. (I wish Japan could think the same about people with disabilities though.. We're really Wabi-Sabi so... ??? And shush about science and nature. I mean having autism gives us more resistance to dementia and Alzheimer's due to a part of our brain being the same as it has been since early childhood. Kinda hard to explain. There are links between that stuff and autism, but its just some similarities that happen for different reasons) It's within human nature to like symmetrical faces and stuff I guess, but did nature itself tell you who is attractive and who is not? The answer is no. So who cares? You are all beautiful in your own ways, and no superficial asshole can't change that fact! Have a good one folks!
