@samanthab1923 ive heard the podcast where he says that, nd many couples will describe the husband as another child to care for, I've personally heard that at least a dozen times irl, it doesn't really mean that he's not an important part of their family or that they're not present... it means he's a man child in at least some ways (as alot of men are, especially when they have a wife that willingly takes the riens.) I'm just saying, you're taking something he said that was light hearted and making it into something much more serious. Again, you must know hearing a comment on a podcast doesn't mean you know how his house is or how his family feels about him.... Also, his kids love him and he clearly loves them... so no matter what ever self-deprecating shit he says, or 'shitty' things he does as a dad, I doubt it's as bad as you're making it out to be. The reason he included his sister was very self serving. If you listen closely-just before Bert mentions his sister-Bert laments that he started the Fully Loaded tour because he felt like he wasn’t being included. In his own words, he says it’s because he “wouldn’t be invited” to other comedy tours so he had to start his own. Starting his own tour actually really stokes his ego, primarily because he’s in charge, but perhaps just as importantly he’s able to get actual funny comedians to hang out with him and, as a bonus, he has them open for him so that he finishes as the “Star act” even though he’s definitely always the worst comedian on the stage. He’s a star in his own mind; the tour gives him fuel and stokes his ego because he’s able to film himself hanging out with funny people and he feels that sort of validates him and he thinks that if comedy fans see their favorite comic hanging out with him that many he will gain some of their fans. He’s apparently paying well, so well that some won’t turn him down, and in doing so he has them working for *him* , thus placing him in the position of power. A star-studded lineup, who are there solely because Bert is paying them big bucks to do standup but the downside for the comics is that Bert seems to have made it understood that he’s not just paying them to do standup and prop him up on stage, he’s paying them handsomely for their time. Based off what some of these comics touch on here, Bert is not just paying them for their time on stage, but off stage as well. He’s got camera crews everywhere and is expecting these comics to party on camera with him-whether they want to or not-in an effort to get footage to signal to the audience “See! if you think so-and-so is funny, you should think I’m funny too! Look how much they love and respect me! Here’s us playing HORSE and taking shots of tequila while they fake laugh at my corny jokes. This is footage for a future documentary, in case I ever run out of money, too by the way.” They are clearly uncomfortably with it and just want to do the standup without all the dorky, fake, extra stuff for Bert to mug at the camera and show off. So he’s basically going in the hole to do these shows, I’m sure, as he’s investing in himself and his image by paying comedians an obscene amount of money to help validate him and then open for him as though he’s some kind of comedic legend. It would be funny if it weren’t so desperate and sad. The reason why he’s so obsessed with recording is not because he wants to make sure people see him doing good deeds for nothing; He only said it was that horrible thing because he’d rather everyone think he has an obsession with recording than to realize the embarrassing truth is he’s trying to get clout by recording himself having conversations with comics who probably don’t like him that much and certainly don’t respect him after he has someone shove a boom mic in their faces when they think they are just having some down time. Stav suggests to Bert he shouldn’t spend so much time, money, energy and effort into securing a line up of top tier stand ups who are way out of Bert’s league and, as Bert himself admits, might not invite him to hang out or do standup with them in a reversed role. Stav is actually very sweet and kind on top of being a brilliant comedian, so he essentially breaks it to Bert in a way nicer way than I’m putting it-although Bert is clearly already painfully aware of what Stav is telling him and just pretends he isn’t because he doesn’t want people watching to realize that he knows exactly why he’s doing this: for clout. Not companionship, fun or even actual friendship. He wants to be associated with comedy giants, even though he’s far from what most people would even consider funny. All in the hopes that someday, someone might name him a comedy giant, too. Again, in a really cool but upfront way, Stav carefully and rightly breaks it to Bert that he should invest more into the people who he is likely neglecting in his life…people that actually do want him around…rather than a bunch of people who are just in it for the money and don’t even like Bert. This advice doesn’t suit Bert for painfully obvious reasons-his wife, kids, sister and others can’t give him that same validation and reassurance that he can get by PAYING comedians to hang out with him on camera and come open for him on his tour, where he’s paying to be the star. 🤯 We know Bert already understands all this but he doesn’t want the audience to see his true nature and his calculated narcissism. This is again why he quickly interrupts Stav to go out of his way to bring attention to his sister and the drinks she made as a way to distract viewers from realizing how narcissistic he is. Bert really is the ultimate Try-Hard, chasing celebrity and fame. Bert is smug, lazy and leeches off other people’s celebrity; No sooner did Stav mention his advice to Bert about making sure he doesn’t neglect true friends, Bert wasted no time in interrupting before quickly and awkwardly gesturing towards his sister, turning the conversation towards her and her cocktail as if to say “See, I still include the little people in my life and make time for them” He really is a weird guy who lies nonstop and is always looking for ways to elevate his fame. He’s literally famous for nothing

I hate how much Rogan has to bring up how great someone is as a person. I don't give shit if a comedian is a good person I actually prefer having no opinion of them outside their comedy. Rogan I think has done the whole calling out comedians and it is from that one time of him doing it that had him question if doing that was something that was good for his mind. I think he is firm on what is good comedy and what is not but he doesn't go out and yell it from a mike or insult the person into quieting. He is more about doing that behind a door while saying it in a kind manner. I am all for that, this whole burning a fire under a comedians ass because the audience doesn't like them is the behaviour of a low life. No quality about such people imo. I remember seeing a video of Rogan using his louder ton with a hint of insults to get bobby to spill on Carlos and I thought that was the same thing you are asking him to do but for comedians who aren't good. That behaviour is the behaviour of a low life. I don't respect it and I guess from listen to Rogan I surmise that he doesn't appreciate his behaviour at that time as well.
@TheFergo9114 ай бұрын
@stevvvvveperry that's an extreme comment "1 in 10". I don't even listen to Rogan's podcast because of the off chance he gets a good comedian on. But that is a personal preference. But I agree we are over exposed to a lot of things and listening to comedians talk about comedy as much as it is being talked about today is too much.

It's also funny because Rogan himself is a terrible person, and all the people he cites as "good people" are also, of course, terrible. Think of how often Rogan has shilled for someone like Alex Jones, an OBJECTIVELY TERRIBLE person, the real tragedy here is that Rogan is as popular as he is and has the influence he does. Most of these awful people would never be known names if it wasn't for Rogan pushing them.

I am not an expert but what you are describing as negative, phony or else is just “business”: the man knows he works in a profession where taste swings fast. He’s just capitalizing as much as possible, as fast as possible, as he may fear things (like fame or social relevance) won’t last forever (and he’s not wrong). The interesting bit in here is the self fulfilling prophecy: the faster and stronger he may do this, the shorter the span where that swing may occur.
