Everyone here claiming it Russia is silly to be upset of a foreign power interfering in a war that in real terms has nothing to do with them. I have never understood in real terms why the US got involved or cared about Ukraine in the first place. Strategically to everything else, it has to be at the bottom of US strategic interest and/or needs. Middle East I get and Asia I get, but Ukraine? The only reason they care now is because they (foolishly) attatched there reputation to protecting it. And failing this would hurt the ego. If the US just didnt care at the start of this invasion, or didnt inject there regime change foreign policiy over last 20 years there, this all wouldnt have happened or would be over. If I get the answer "to help Europe", that also no longer makes sense. Since 1991 Europe (mostly EU) has told the US they are clearly a competitor who needs to be challenged and have any desires of their ignored or laughed at. Now Europe needs the US, they come crawling back in some manner, but still unable to relinquish their pride. The average American doesnt understand the US involvement. Most dont. And helping Ukraine for "International law reasons" whilst also helping Israel break it with gusto, says everything about it not being moral.
@HalfBound-c9x29 күн бұрын
I get where you're coming from, but saying Ukraine has “nothing to do with” U.S. interests misses the bigger picture. Ukraine is a key part of Europe, and if Russia takes control, it sends a dangerous message that authoritarian regimes can just invade their neighbors without consequences. This isn’t just about Ukraine; it’s about the global order the U.S. helped create after WWII. If Russia gets away with this, it would embolden other autocrats around the world, and that’s a problem for U.S. security too. As for Europe, yeah, it’s true that many EU countries are more independent now, but Russia’s aggression still threatens European stability. NATO’s been a cornerstone of U.S. foreign policy, and Europe’s security is still tied to it. It’s not about reputation or ego; it’s about stopping further Russian expansion and keeping Europe stable. If the U.S. just sat back and did nothing, it would be a disaster, not just for Ukraine but for the entire international system. I know U.S. foreign policy has its flaws, but this isn’t about being "morally perfect." It's about defending sovereignty and international law. Letting Russia get away with this would be a huge mistake, and it would set a dangerous precedent for the future. So, while the situation’s complicated, the U.S. has good reasons to be involved in Ukraine, and walking away would only make things worse in the long run.

Oh, no, Trump is very likely to give our enemies whatever they want. That has been his policy so far. He's a terrible negotiator, assuming that he even wants America to win.

When have you been walked all over? By who?

I love how it's just before Trump takes office. A big mess made just for him to clean up.

@RabbitShirak I know. But he will have to face the consequences, just like Biden faced the consequences of Covid.
