Motor1 Senior Editor Jake Holmes takes the bonkers Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk for a spin to find out that happens when you put a hellcat motor in an SUV.

Long gone are the days when we laugh at the idea of a track-ready SUV. Automakers around the world - though most often in Germany - have shown that it’s more than feasible to build a SUV with epic acceleration, family-friendly cargo space, a modicum of towing prowess, and impressive handling. But Jeep’s latest volley into that arena takes the idea to a ludicrous new level.
The Grand Cherokee Trackhawk is the most powerful Jeep you can buy, with the 707-horsepower supercharged V8 from the Challenger and Charger Hellcat. It’ll outrun both of those cars to 60 miles per hour, too, doing the deed in just 3.5 seconds, and will keep on trucking right up until aerodynamics slow the fun down at 180 mph.
And yet… you can still fit five people inside the Trackhawk, it has a “Snow” mode for its all-wheel-drive system, and there’s even an optional DVD player for back-seat passengers. Does that make it the ideal go-fast family hauler? Find out as we unleash the Trackhawk in the latest episode of Why Buy?
SPECIFICATIONS:

I like ow the bucket tuck ahead in video 😂 besides that impresive im disappointed in the lack of discussion of AWD capability This vehicle is all I'm looking for. I would like to see pull across cover for rear cargo. I would only be able to get pre-owned and watch make sure not beat up

No. You buy a sports car for "sporty performance". Need to haul around 5-7 people? SUV. Off-roading....SUV engineered for "off-roading" ...would you take a Porsche 911 on mountain dirt/rock trails?? :))

Arthur Berner American towns are fine outside of the slums run by the Socialist zealots. If you get outside big cities, American towns are really nice places to be and drive. Open and fun.

Absolutely NO ONE in Germany can afford this - starting with the sticker price, the ridiculously high Benzin prices in Germany and then add MwSt and the annual KFZ Steuer on top of that. Oh, and you're gonna need to rent a garage. C'mon. Germans consider the VW Golf a fancy mid-class car - it's their #1 top seller. I had some co-workers in Germany get jealous because I was driving a Mercedes C class with a V6 engine. Russia may be different, but I wouldn't know.

Yeah that's not an "American Town"... that looks like parts of Detroit or Flint, Michigan. They were destroyed when the US decided to bring a ton of African American workers there for the WW2 war effort and then once WW2 ended the locals returned to their racist ways. The racial tensions rose due to housing segregation, harassment from cops, and racist whites until the race riots in 1967 that burned Detroit to the ground and it never recovered. Flint being so close to Detroit was also impacted economically (a TON of plant workers lived in Flint). And did you just call Russia "nice"? That's... um... As an aggregate I would not call Russia a top-20 country to live in. Visually, financially, human rights-wise etc. Maybe if you're part of the oligarch but even then, ugh. (And yes I've been, no, I'm not an ignorant American, etc. etc.) There are tons of nice places in the US ranging from actual towns to nice cities and yes, there are garbage places. It's a shame that most of the review places haven't moved somewhere nicer because you're right. It looks depressing AF and I would not want to be driving around in a 90k+ vehicle there. Oh and Evan, of the top-15 best performing cities economically, they're all run by democrats.

When he mention not enough room in the center compartment, it's because that one has that entertainment system package. It takes up all that room because that's where the disc player goes. But it's an option. I believe it's a $900 option

It''s not a true race car and it's not a true SUV. And a combined 13 mpg? (if you're lucky) Why would ANYONE spend a 100 grand on this, especially with Chrysler Jeep's poor history of reliability?

What's with those wheels? I've never seen those on a Trackhawk before. Look like they are from a base model Grand Cherokee.

An excellent vehicle overall. BUT... both this and the regular SRT Jeep Grand Cherokees have no more offroad ability then any other powerful car or more accurately... any other station wagon. Jeep decided to NOT put the Air Suspension system or other offroad features available on the other Grand Cherokee models on the Trackhawk & SRT lines.

The only problem with this car is that you can get a "regular" SRT model for way less money, which also has loads of power and performance. Hence the number of these still sitting around on the dealer lots. This car is also priced to compete with the Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio which is a true track-worthy SUV (although smaller and not as powerful). This is for people with money to burn that want the biggest sleeper on the road this side of a Chevy SS.
