BYD is a company, which majority of people probably have never heard before. These guys have just started reaching out to the global market. However, many still feel that this car company is sooo foreign or "new"... I have recently seen the light and have converted to the EV (Electric Vehicle) crowd after years of denial or basically "ignorance". And the first ever EV I've pick is BYD. Let me tell you why I've decided to go with BYD.
Charging Station 1337 is a KZbin channel dedicated to EVs and related technology. My name is Rick.. I am a car enthusiast, who has driven ICE (internal combustion engines) cars for 22+ years, and have recently opened my eyes to EV and it's capabilities. I am starting my journey as an EV user and will share my insights on this journey. I love technology and the progress it brings. And oh, I own a Supra MKIV and have no plans of ditching that.. so, please don't shoot me if you're a pure EV fan.

I am a Chinese. I sold my old car last year and wanted to buy a BYD, but it was sold too well at that time. Wait for 3-6 months to collect the car after making a reservation. So I didn't choose BYD and chose PHEV of other brands, so I regret it now. The sales volume of BYD is actually restricted by the production capacity of the factory, so that at this moment, it still takes three months to buy the popular BYD models in China. BYD will have five new factories put into operation before the end of this year, which will be much better at that time.

Unfortunately I live in the USA. With the 25% tariff on Chinese cars currently in place, we are stuck with few choices. We are limited almost exclusively to higher-end vehicles and no economic choices. No ID 3, No Dolphin, No MG, No anything that is smaller more efficient or cheaper. Even the Chevy Bolt which recently saw a 6000$us drop in price requires a monthly on-star subscription for standard car functions of 50$us per month. The basic service is 25$us but only covers OTA updates. We are being forced into the 40,000$ plus price range for behemoth cars which are inefficient and expensive.

One of the features that attracts me to the BYD Atto 3 is the ability to interface it into our alternative powered house ,having a 240 volt outlet plug on the car. 🇬🇧 company quality is one thing, design and control ergonomics is another. I am regularly baffled with stupid design decisions. Indicators that the designers/stylists have 'lost the plot' : No rear wash wipe. Ridiculous! Often used functions on a screen menu or sub menu. Often used controls should 'fall to hand without the need to look' Touch sensitive button rather than mechanical buttons and knobs. These are often accidentally touched, especially on steering wheel. No handbrake. It was easy, instinctive and analogue. Flush pop out door handles. Try opening your car when it's iced up. Generally overly complex. If you hire an EV, are you safe to just get in and drive ? Or should you spend hours with the manual?

You do sound like you are quite smart in this dissertation on BYD cars. Why are you professing that BYD have parts available? Why do you think that extra parts means better cars? I doubt that having extra parts means that BYD build better cars. In the world we live in right now that extra part mantra simply put means that they are designing those parts to fail and that you will need to replace those parts because they were meant to fail at some point to be replaced by YOU. BUT with a TESLA they have the best charging infrastructure PLUS they use less parts and do not design their cars to fail. Being Cheap does not mean being frugal. Cheap means CHEAP, and you sound like cheap is the way forward. More BYD cars whether they are an EV or an ICE vehicle are built cheap so that they will break and they are sold so inexpensively because they are going to do what all of the traditional automakers have done for the past 100 years. Sell a car inexpensively because they get you to come in to replace parts. Nice video, but lacks content in the correct direction. BYD is no better than a legacy auto manufacturer in this case.

Extra parts I'm referring to can also mean panels, headlights, etc. which you would need when someone has rammed into your car on a typical insurance claim... not true. new phev's run mostly as bev's, meaning no gas consumption, 0. only on long trips you turn the motor on. toyota junks don't move unless you burn some gas.

@@SuperFredAZwell, 95% of the time their fuel consumption is 0, just like bev. that is the point. the rest of the 5% time, they keep going while bev stop to charge at rest area.

@@qilu2004 I personally think these hybrids are very good, you can build 4 of them and use the same number of batteries as a full-battery electric vehicle. The point I was making is the Chinese government made it seem that BYD is leading the world in Battery electric vehicles. The two categories should be separated and reported.

@@SuperFredAZ what does chinese government have to do with it? byd has been very respectful to tesla, and only focused on doing their own things. the race is on, and the race will be long. so no need to rush any conclusion.

Good byd commercial … obviously … and my first choice would be Tesla … as only Tesla is really innovative beyond the Automotive basics… byd would probably be my second choice … and as a stock investment too Or a Kia eventually … But TESLA IS A TEN BYD Is a 5 … as is Kia GM is out of business they just don’t know it yet. Ford might make it VW just slit their own throat And Toyota is still pretending they have lots of time. Tesla … Byd … will rule the industry … software is why Tesla is so far ahead and chargers …TESLA FSD will not allow CLOSE COMPARISONS… for 10 years … and by then the rest will be irrelevant!

All cars are combustible, mate... like literally an ICE car has petrol, which is highly flammable. Supposed you would put in consideration the % of that occurrence relative to active units. 👍

@@britishmalayasociety i drive a han ev awd, cheaper than a base version model 3, I can assure you pretty much on every aspect it beats model 3 easily. range, power, size, luxury features. there is no plastic in my cabin, all fully powered nappa leather seat with heat and ventilation, real wood trims, premium sounds, making my bmw x5 looks pitiful in comparison. you just don't know what good evs look like because you have no access to them.
