I know this comment wasn't for me but I wanted you to know how much I needed to read it too. Just got longstanding hypermobility confirmed, pending assessment but I'm really dealing with a lot of fatigue and pain and I've been trying not to feel awful about how much of my life could have been easier if the health professionals I've been seeing for nearly half my life due to pain had actually spotted it without me needing to work it out myself after so much unnecessary struggling and confusion (like so many of my other health issues i was subsequently diagnosed with in the past). Also dealing with worries about if I'm wasting my life away (I just turned 28 so I know I have time but my brain is still struggling to believe it) and a lot of other difficult things regarding other longstanding health issues, as well as parent health, guilt, regret, and fear of time generally. I wanted to do so much and had so much potential in school and so it's just difficult to allow myself to realise how "behind" I feel a lot of the time. That feeling isn't helpful or true though and your comment helped me to respond to it by refocusing on the importance of what's in my life *now* and believing that I can improve things without needing to be so anxious, and that maybe continuing to finally listen to my needs and my true desires in life might get me there where breaking my body in order to jump through metaphorical hoops hasn't. I don't often encounter things that make me think "I needed to hear this right now" (maybe I need to work on widening my world more though, to be fair) and so I truly wanted you to know just how much comfort and empowerment your comment has left me. Bean's surgery wasn't just a normal everyday procedure. This took specialists, and that's not cheap!

Years ago, in the 80s, a yellow lab came running up the street running up the street right towards me. I was pulling in the garage having been to the gym, ready to clean up and go to work. I LOVE dogs, so I stayed in the car while he came in, I KNEW by the look of him and the way his tail wagged uncontrollably that he was friendly. He was pretty scraped up, had a chocker on, but no ID's and I am not even sure if there were microchips in those days. My husband and I took him to the vet to make sure he wasn't ill and we got his necessary shots since we had two young boys. After putting ads in paper, calling lab clubs, everything we could do to find his owner, we kept him. and he was the greatest and smartest dog we have ever had. He was protecting the boys while they were all playing with their friends, they had wandered too far into the road, even though it wasn't real busy, but Nick knocked the one friend out of the way and was severely injured as the car hit him. His hip was broken, but we didn't know that, we took him to the vet, she diagnosed him wrong, we ended up taking him to a specialist, his pelvis was broken in three spots. It made me sick the pain he had to have endured. It was either euthanize him, or replace the hip. There was no question, we replaced the hip and Nick was better than ever. NO WAY would I, or could I or the rest of the family go on a vacation knowing we picked vacation over saving our beloved Nick. He lived another 11 years, and was around 3 or 4 when he came to our home. The operation was well over $2,000.00 then, I can't imagine what that would be now but you just don't put an innocent life dow because they can't find a forever home, or have the money to fix the problem. If your pets aren't your furry children, you shouldn't have them.

I don’t think we should be recommending anything to Rocky about what is best for his family. Only they can answer that. I can see Bean having a joyous life on a ranch herding sheep or other small animals. He would be fulfilling his DNA destiny. I think only a full day of herding would run the wiggles of that crazy little guy!

Bean is a cattle dog with high energy!!!! Such a cutie pie! Thank you for taking such good care of him! someone who wants a high energy dog will adopt him. We also have a cattle dog and we live her! She makes us laugh all the time, but beware-they have a lot a lot of energy and need a job. We take our dog swimming when we can to Disperse that energy.

He is a Beanie baby. I am glad he is doing so well. My dog was just diagnosed with epilepsy. He had 7 grand mall seizures in one day. It was a Sunday so my regular vet was closed and we had to take him to an emergency vet. Vet care is very expensive. Thanks for rescuing Bean. Weight-bearing increases bone strength. Wearing a cast or splint reduces the movement of muscles and they become weak as the bone heals. He is still growing and he needs to strengthen his bones and muscles as they grow and keep things limber and flexible. A cast would cause his muscles to atrophy.

About 23 years ago we adopted 2 cattledogs. 1 for our granddaughter that lived with us and 1 for our other granddaughters that lived in another state. Both dogs were absolutely great pets. We lost Angle about 10 years ago, 2 weeks after we lost our retriever mix. We are 80 yrs old and didn't want another high energy dog so we got a yorkie (ya lol). My daughter lost hers about 5 years ago. They went out and found another cattledog. She is as great as our 2 were. Beautiful living dogs. (Angel played soccor with the granddaughter that lived with us). I will tell uvthey are tough dogs. I miss Angel everyday.

My wife and I have two blue heelers. We swear by Kong toys. We stuff them with different treats made for them and it takes a long time for our pups to work them out and it does wonders to calm them down and fous them. After the two year mark, they idled down and became the best pets we've ever had. But the puppy phase required dedication and love and patience.
