Why on earth can’t they make better slow mo in 4k braw? In theory, taking into account the sensor readout speed, bmpcc 6k should be able to record about 90fps in the 4k windowed mode. That would have made a lot of difference to me if they enabled it, as I’d able to record flicker-free 75fps (project rate 25fps). As it stands, at the moment, I can only record 50fps (not enough) or 100 fps (too zoomed in). 60 fps is available and better than 50fps but produces flicker in artificial light here in Australia.

Hard to believe you have over 1000 hours on the camera but you don’t know that double tapping the play button will let you scroll all your footage recorded in the specific device let say a Cfast card or T5/t7

It’s definitely a good camera for wedding filmmaking If you know what you’re doing. Most of these things mentioned are easy to fix. IR pollution is a simple IR cut filter on the lens. Just because it’s a cinema camera doesn’t mean it can’t be used for wedding filmmaking 🤦🏽‍♂️. The fact that is has raw to make it easier to deal with different lighting all over the place as well as the ability to burn in luts is enough reason why it’s easily useful for wedding shooting.

In regards to low light, the bmpcc doesn't do all of the noise reduction in camera. You need to do it in post, with the free software. This gives you more freedom and control when it comes to your image, as far as I know.

For the follow focus motor, the gear tape must be of the same size/shape as the rotating wheel (the notches). Some time ago I switched the tape from another gimbal and had lots of slipping at the gear. Other problem may come from untight connection of the plate to a camera or a cage. The metal rod is not allowed to move aside even a bit.

I never encountered the playback issue you are mentioning, I think you can’t review footage of a different resolution/frame rate unless you are currently in that frame rate mode. And regarding the gimbal use, I feel like the focus control via type-c works quite well for the 18-35.

Unfortunately stuck pixels is very common with a lot of cameras When I first got my a7s I pretty much pulled it out of the box and shot a short, giant stuck pixels right in the middle right out of the box I also do a lot of corporate work with canon C cameras and the Panasonic BGH-1 It's happened so many times that I pixel refresh my cameras at the start of every shoot Red recommends letting the sensor warm up for 15-20 minutes first So I'll have my shooters power on the cameras in advance and then do a refresh (with the cap on) Sometimes a shooter will question if it's necessary, I'll zoom in on the image and show a stuck pixel and they quickly understand how important it is lol
@TheRealZodWorld
@TheRealZodWorld Жыл бұрын
is simple, this is not wedding camera, the hot pixel is cause several time with the camera working, battery mechanism increase temp and produces damage in the sensor, bmpcc 6k pro is a short takes camera, mount a scene, shot and cut.
@EmeraldAudiovisual
@EmeraldAudiovisual Жыл бұрын
The way you fix your focus motor issue, that you use a baseplate with 2 rods and then fit a lens support. While you may not not need the lens support, it will stabilise the 2 rods. As a result, your motor won't move. Balancing the 6k on a Ronin Gimbal, you want an offset arca swiss plate, so you can slide left and right and maybe a wide base plate, like the Smallrig power baseplate for the RS2 / RS3 Pro. It can be balanced without counterweights, once you can move the camera sideways.
@kilenmurphy
@kilenmurphy Жыл бұрын
Sadly I even tried with the lens support and of course using the provided velco strap and was still running into the same problem. I think ideally the system would work with a prime lens rather then a zoom. But I think with DJI actually doing a full redesign on the RS3 they knew even though it worked...it wasn't necessarily an ideal design.
@gssg2010
@gssg2010 Жыл бұрын
Center of gravity. The weight of the camera skews to the short side of the body. Goes back to that gimbal issue you posted. I took the time to really tinker with the balancing. I can cram a pro on a RSC 2 and make it stick in any direction. The RS 3 makes that a little tougher, but the gimbal motors are so beefy, and forgivable, that making it stick on the roll is no longer a requirement.

Hey Kilen, I'm a fellow PNW filmmaker and shoot on BMPCC6K, and recently pivoted to weddings - glad to see your work. Because of the gimbal issues you mentioned with the Sigma 18-35, I switched to using a Sigma 17-50 - smaller, lighter, easy to balance, bigger focal range, and I don't notice a quality loss. Also, I never use focus gears because, with AF lenses, you can control focus on the Blackmagic electronically with the RS2 via usb-c. Stylistically though, I'm curious how often you shoot on a gimbal vs. handheld and why. I always use a gimbal for convenience, but recently have been experimenting with handheld for more control over focal length and angles. A video on that could be good.

If your not working with a Gaffer and a 1st AC this is probably not the right camera for you. Get a Sony with autofocus and face tracking and incredible low light performance. This is a DP cam not an event camera. If you can’t dial in the lighting levels like a cinematographer and don’t have control of the blocking and movement of the actors exposure and focus are going to be a challenge with this tool.

You can only play back the clips that were recorded on the current settings of your camera record section. So for example, if you texted something in full 6k braw 24ps…the clips recorded with those settings are the one that you can play back. Let’s say you had other clips recorded in 6k 2.4.1 mode…only THOSE clips will play and it the full sensor 6k mode. Also there’s 2 modes of clip organization in playback mode that can be changed in the settings as well. It’s one of those things because I can assure you the playing back clips from different days is not an issue

bro, this isn't a pain to mount on a gimbal. eat some protein, lift some other heavy things. i run this full cage, monitor, focus motor, rs2, all day. with that being said the flicker issue, and the audio issue is most frustrating with the 6k. strobe flickering, and debanding and deflickering in davinci does not fix it. the audio levels i notice aren't true, the camera shows i'm peaking in the red when my zoom is set low. so i have to read my levels on something else. i also noticed a rode shotgun sounds like absolute dog shit. tried different input options, the kondor blue mini xlr for the black magic was the biggest pos i've wasted 20 bucks on.

6k G2 (owner) defense here (not really). Dead pixels: Every camera gets them. Reason #1 why I buy a new G2 every year before the warranty expires, and sell the 11-month old G2 with Davinci at 25% off. Cheap insurance. There are ways to deal with dead pixels. Davinci Resolve has a 'dead pixel' fix in the menu. The local BM support offices can remap those pixels. Younger is better. Works for some people, too.. Playback: I unload all media daily so I would have no need to take up space on my CF or SSD for yesterday's footage. I routinely create screenshots during dailies to reference the next day, for lighting, continuity etc. Low light: I light shadows, because film likes it almost as much as my 6k. It's dynamic range. Gimbal: My back and knees won't do a gimbal. I use a Steadicam with vest and arm (moving subjects), or Flycam with Ronin M (stationary subjects). No more hunchback. The 6k is a cinema camera, not just a digital camera. It's most effective for the manual filmmaker, not a street journalist or wedding videographer. It's certainly not my run-and-gun go-to camera.

I have a pocket 4K. I uploaded my footage one day and found not 1, but multiple dead pixels. Such a shame because there is no image like the one Black Magic produces at a fair price. Every other camera around that dollar range looks 10 years old. I wish Black Magic can fix this as they create more cameras. I had a lumix g7. It’s a small camera with not as impressive video, but after 5 years it still didn’t have dead pixels. What do I need to do? Buy a new black magic camera every 1 to 2 years? Goofy
