Today I prayed while training on Gymnastic Rings in my carport. Before every exercise, I would say a verse from the Bible that I liked and repeat it mentally while performing reps and it became a kind of mantra or focus for meditation on the Word. "Blessed be the Lord my Strength who trains my hands for war and prepares my fingers for battle." Psalms 144:1 (Yes, I'm mixing translations. I find that wording is more poetic and emotionally engaging.)

I can’t believe knowing what I know now, that as a teenager that I was missing out on so much that I could have been doing with my mom and the rest of my family. If you've never gotten fat then you don't understand how important it is to be in good healthy shape! I was in good physical shape all my earlier life and i was weighing between 145-155 from middle school up till about 3 yrs afterwards when I started working a busy job, got married and had a son coming along plus my wife was an awesome cook. I wasn't able to keep active anymore and i used to play sports, skateboard, roller blade, mountain bike, and olay in a band so i blew up to 200 lbs for 4 yrs and i was miserable not because i wanted to look "good" but because the extra weight is physically draining and u comfortable, I lost 53 lbs and felt great for about 14 yrs and then I got careless and blew up again 😔. I've recently lost at least 20lbs and feel better but not where I should be and at 44 yrs old it's a lot harder because i can't run like i used to so the process is a lot slower 😭. Now don't get me wrong I'm not a "body worshipper" I just know what it's like to get fat then lose it and get fat again and believe me I would rather have not gotten fat!

Can really relate to this. I'm 38 with 2 children and single parent. I physically can't do it all and do turn to food to comfort which God's dealing with within me! It's definitely more of a challenge now than when I could train 6 days a week and only had me to consider! I used to haves abs and all before having children then being saved in 2021! Self control is a fruit of the spirit though 😂🙏 so I'll keep persevering with Christ by my side to be fitter so I can hopefully be running around with my grandchildren... If Jesus isn't back by then.

Burning fat is also a matter of diet, you can't out exercise a bad diet, loosing fat is as simple as calories in, calories out. You must be in a caloric deficit in order to loose fat. Let's say your body requires 2700 calories per day to function, even if you ate 2200 calories in donuts, you will loose weight. But I would not recommend that for multiple reasons, such as energy and overall health. Get enough protein, whole foods, check your calories. You got this.

There are a couple verses people use to speak against fitness, but I believe they alone are not good arguments. The thing about the Bible and fitness is that people in the Bible WERE FIT. Abraham was a farmer, David was a soldier. They did not have air conditioning and they did not eat fast food. They were physically active every day and they ate healthy food.

(joyful stewardship) it’s community in the sense that we get to fellowship and deepen our relationships with other believers through activities & shared hobbies, as well as strive to fulfill the great commission when we engage with unbelievers who share a similar interest; in hopes that the lost will hear the gospel and come to faith in Christ.

I've been so, so shamed by other moms in the church for working out daily. Sometimes I workout hard, but sometimes I just stretch. I walk, do HIIT about once a week, and do some weight circuits. However, I do it all at home, and NEVER post about it on social media. Since starting deliberately 3 years ago I've worn looser clothing to actively try to not grab attention. The more in shape I've gotten, the more I've tried to fade into the background. Even so, I've been told I'm selfish and vain for doing so...or I was scolded once for not prioritizing my life because I shouldn't have the time to workout if I'm doing enough for the community. It got in my head and I've felt guilty for the past year ('Maybe I should babysit or volunteer more with this extra 45 minutes a day? Maybe this is a stumbling block, maybe it is something I should set aside to not offend my brothers or sisters?')

Oh girl! You keep on working out! You are being a great steward of God’s temple😇. These women..... pray for them. They are hiding their shame of NOT taking care by attacking you. Not you. You have done nothing wrong. Women are prone in our culture to be jealous and envious. Warfare is not against these fleshly women. It’s them being used by the enemy to throw darts. Do not fade!! You were called by God to be as strong and focused as you are! You put on beautiful clothes and accessories unto the Lord. Just think how you are being a role model to the younger girls as well as the women who “get it.” Stop giving those Debbie downers power over you. Now read this out loud with me, in the name of Jesus and in agreement with my Christian sister, I speak against the spirits of despair that are tormenting her. In Your Word Jesus said He gave us authority over snakes and scorpions and All the powers of the enemy.! Yes!!! Hallelujah🎉. She is fighting scorpions that sting. I pray for her to put on the whole armor of God that she can withstand these attacks. Father we also pray for these women to being lukewarm and start living Your Word. I pray lastly Father, for ministering angels to attend to her wounds so that she can heal and continue to be strong. Amen and amen!!! Now get up and pray for strength everyday to continue this wonderful path. The Holy Spirit’s gotcha ❤️❤️❤️❤️💖💖💖

Watch “should Christians workout and exercise Ask pastor Tim”
@bryanwirthlin44444 жыл бұрын
Sorry brother, I just watched that before coming here and I have to say, it's quite boring and Pastor Tim talks about "redeeming time" and comparing your efforts to 200 years hence. I have two thoughts on that. 1. Redeeming time is a relative term. If a young man is wasting his life playing video games, then yes, fitness training is redeeming his time. If an obese woman is on a path to die at 50 of diabetes, then yes, fitness training is very redeeming of her time. 2. Comparing one's efforts to 200 years from now is a terrible idea. There's always a way to frame any issue or topic in a timescale that makes it irrelevant and useless. For example, why bother ministering? Or evangelizing? Or tithing? After all, at some point, Christ will return and our efforts won't have mattered much, if at all. The point is not what happens "a long time from now," but rather what Good is accomplished and what Evil is defeated on a daily basis. And that's Sermon on the Mount 101. Jesus essentially says that you should be confronting the trouble (evil) present in your daily life and not worry about mundane issues in the future (food, clothing etc,) provided you have oriented your life towards God. It's a formula. IF... you seek the Kingdom of God AND live rightly, THEN you can stop worrying and just deal with the Evil that presents itself as you go about your day. And you ought to deal with Evil as you find it. Matthew 6:33 "But seek first His Kingdom and His righteousness (which means right living)" and then Matthew 6:34 applies "...do not worry about tomorrow... Each day has enough trouble (Evil) of its own."

Good points but I think you may be wrong on training for purely aesthetic reasons. If you look at traditional bodybuilding before the advent of steroids it’s very clear that they were trying to achieve golden ratio proportions which is a divine ratio found in all of reality. This can be a noble and godly achievement for the human proportions. Today this is lost simply because of the perverted state of bodybuilding. However this ratio is somewhat achievable in all men and has intrinsic value. Otherwise only ball sports and racing sports are valid pursuits for Christians. Bodybuilding has an artistic expressive component that needs no further justification.

robraver for clarification, are you saying Christians shouldn’t encourage each other to be healthy because Adventist’s already have a health message?

@@Cappellano Yeah, it doesn't make much sense. Particularly when you realize that SDAs have a life expectancy 6 or 7 years longer than Christians.

@@Cappellano sure, its good to not eat too much...not eat the wrong food and to respect your body. But its NOT what Christianty is about...is it.
