Which is why this question exists mostly to gauge your soft-skills of bullshitting your way through a conversation without coming off as fake, you'll use it with clients a lot so is definitely useful

Thinking about why we should not just frankly say we want to earn money from consulting, how you answer in the interview will tell the interviewer if you have good communication/negotiation/account management skills. That's the reason why I think even though being honest is good, it might not be good if the interviewers are judging your capability based on your responses :)

Those that pursue consulting for the money typically don't last very long. Consulting has long hours and can be stressful. That's why consulting firms look for enthusiastic candidates since they are more likely to be able to survive for more than a year :)
