I didn't understand the appeal of cruisers until I bought one. I got a Yamaha Bolt R-spec and it totally changed my perspective on cruisers. The suspension was plush but overall not that great, it was not very fast, nor was it as flickable as a sport bike, but it was worlds more comfortable than any other bike I've ridden and it was overall just a really chilled out riding experience. There's something to be said about sitting on a couch with wheels and I think that's pretty cool in itself. I only own a dual sport now, meaning I love to torture myself when I ride on pavement, but sometimes I look back and I get an itch to buy another Bolt.

I have a Honda Fury and the exhaust note coming out of the Cobra pipes sings to my soul. The bike is a tractor of a machine. Definitely a boulevard cruiser with only 70ish horses, 700lbs and 5 gears but it catches compliments everywhere I park. Only cost 6 grand used and it's so chill to hit the country roads around here. When hooliganism calls I ride the RC390 though. Everyone should have a couple bikes that are absolutely different from each other to keep things exciting.

Comparing most motorcycle types to cruisers is like comparing skydiving to fishing. If what you value is excitement, fishing seems pointless. If you’re looking for something that gives you a relaxing sense of satisfaction, skydiving looks ridiculous. The only number on any spec sheet that actually matters to me is price. After that it’s just how it feels. I love my mt09 for my inner excited chaotic child, but the often the stressed and over stimulated adult in me could use a chief dark horse.

I’m 36 years old and I’m fortunate to own both a 2023 Harley Road Glide and a 2021 Yamaha R1. I will say this I went in a couple of long distance rides on that R1 and it was a horrible ride I mean long distance from Maryland to South Carolina. And during that ride I knew I needed more. The R1 is cool for around town and short gooning moments on the highway and back home. To be able to ride 300 plus miles with comfort cruise control and radio is a whole separate experience. As for weight honestly you don’t really notice it unless your at low speeds and the it’s all about rider technique. For power and performance your never going to get a Harley to 190mph but they can be built to out perform my R1 in 0-100 but that some serious cash. I truly believe it all boils down to what kind of rider you are. Are you into touring and crossing multiple state lines in a weekend or week long trip? Or, are you just riding point to point in your prospective area? I like doing both so I bought what I feel offer the best in there respective classes. Even when it comes to off roading I have my Yamaha Yz250 and looking to get rzr1000xp4 soon. I think it’s easy for us now to say I like all motorcycles but it’s hard for most to open there minds to new experiences. Safe riding big homie. May the angels fly faster than you can ride and demons choke on your exhaust.

I keep telling you, the triumph bobber will change your mind. It’s like 450-500lbs. Very low seating, doesn’t feel heavy at all. I used to say everything you just said but it literally changed my opinion on cruiser life. The very first minute I test drove mine I fell in love and bought it the next day. Great low end torque, nimble as all hell, gorgeous, amazing MPG. Funnest bike I’ve owned. And I’ve had many high end naked 900-1200cc bikes from Yamaha/ducati/triumph. I’m more confident on twisties with my bobber than anything I’ve ridden before
@CycleCruza Жыл бұрын
That is a nice bike for a cruiser but still not my cup of tea. I had the king of performance cruisers, a Ducati XDiavel, and that bike could fly around corners too and not scrape pegs but you could still feel that 545 lbs on slow maneuvers. If I were ever forced to get a cruiser it would probably be a Ducati Diavel V4, but it is way too expensive, not a good fun vale per dollar.

I just looked at pictures of the triumph bobber & realized...If someone made a rear metal rack that can clamp on/bolt on to the rear frame to hold a nice looking triple bag set. Then throw on a windscreen. You'd be quickly set up for a road trip or trip to the grocery store. Later you can quickly remove the rear rack. Similar to a rear rack on a bicycle. I think some old school looking, canvas military style, triple bag set would look good on the bike. With 2 belt like straps on each bag so when they're empty or partially full. They can be strapped down. So they're not flapping in the wind & don't look like big bulky hard cases when empty. I wish I still had a garage, a nice looking rear rack. Would be another good product idea to fabricate & sell. Along with things like engine guards/crash bars, skid plates etc...

Don't like the look of them? Easily removed. It has a windshield to keep the wind off you. Don't like the look? Easily removed. It has an upgraded, more comfortable seat for you and a passenger. It has a backrest for the passenger, so the passenger doesn't have to hold on to you when riding. No passenger? Well now you have a platform you can tie a duffle bag to. I don't scrape pegs in the corners unless I'm really pushing it in the corners. Want more ground clearance for cornering? Replace the shocks in the back with longer ones. Boom. Done.

One of my motorcycles is a 2003 Honda VTX1800, which is a fuel injected, water-cooled, 110cubic inch V-Twin. It’s a wonderful engine. Mine has high performance pipes, air intake and Power Commander. It makes about 120 ft-lbs of torque. It will top out at about 145mph. It’s a beautiful, comfortable bike that is a ton of fun because of the torque. The only negatives are that it is loud as hell and it weighs over 700 #, but that’s what earplugs are for, and the weight is only a negative if you lose your balance or something. It will haul ass around curves, but it will scrape the pegs a lot quicker than a non-cruiser.

Sure, it has a low seat but one big problem, the distance from the handlebars to the seat sucks. I have to lean forward - so that leads me to buy and install risers and find a seat that will push me forward - this is stupid! I have to work so hard to set my cruiser up. But you know what all good, I learned to ride and that I only need one foot down so I plan on trading this is in for a 2024 Duke 390. The MSF course in our country doesn't teach us how to ride just how to pass the test so you can get your license.

The thing about cruisers is they excel at just that, cruising. Some do have some ass behind them like super glide sports or Indian scouts. Cruisers can be versatile, you can throw on some bags and a windshield and go tour for hundreds of miles. As far as being cumbersome just depends on the rider, motorcycle cops sure don't look over encumbered on those huge road kings. I prefer a stripped down cruiser as far as aesthetics go. I think many motorcyclists pick cruisers because they look like motorcycles. I know dirt bikes, supermotos, and ADVs' are more function over form but I think, for the most part, they look ugly. They don't fit the bill of what what most people think of when you say "motorcycle." You should look into the Moto Morini X-Cape Aventouring bike, good mix of off-road and on-road capability. Cheap too I know you'll like that lol!

I like cruisers because i enjoy their comfort, superior customization possibilities (for me its mainly the backrest and lighting). They have enough power to move around traffic and on the highway is where the comfort and the ride itself shines through. Click into top or near top gear and just cruise along. It's a much more relaxed seating position and allows me to enjoy the rides i take more than the adv bikes or naked or sport bikes i have ridden. Also, its a way of thinking, it gets us from point A to point B.. not quickly... but it gets us there. We aren't trying to go anywhere quickly, we like enjoying the act of riding and being more in the scenery looking at the road as opposed to being on the road looking at the scenery.

I recommend picking up a used but pretty metric cruiser. They're cheap, plentiful on online seller venues, and may even inspire you to take some motorcycle trips and dump some of that rigid and biased thinking. Some of the bikes you criticize (Cruisers,touring,adventure) are more fun to own and ride than you think.

Went from my 08 Road Glide to my first ever new bike, my 21 Road Glide Special. If I was bopping around city streets, it wouldn’t be so ideal. But I like to see 20-23k a season, I’m not a Street Rossi, and I’ve never thought about the weight of a bike unless it’s on its side. I’ve ridden pretty much every configuration of bike except an adventure bike over the last 30 years. There’s a practical use for any bike if you can afford a stable. Try different bikes, then get the one that fits you best. Don’t buy a Harley (or any other bike) because others like them (or don’t like them.) A true biker is an individual, or he’d be driving a car. Find what moves you, in more than just a physical sense #RideSafe

I agree. My Kawi Zrx 1200 is my cruiser. Can ride for days comfortably. But my Cbr1000rr tuned with quick shifter is so much fun to ride early Sunday mornings when nobody is out. Best of both worlds Have a worked sur Ron for trails also. Complete animal when upgraded

You have to understand that for some guys, if cruisers didn't exist, they wouldn't even ride a motorcycle. I have friends who will not ride anything else. Nothing. For them, that's what motorcycling is about. For myself, I could only have one motorcycle, and trying to set speed records or drag racing wasn't appealing to me. I needed a bike good for the city and good for the highway. There are no dirt roads around here. So i went with a Harley softail. It was easy to find, easy to test ride, easy to finance. It is light enough and nimble enough for in town and stable for the highway. Not to mention that we get ridiculous wind here in Tulsa Oklahoma, and a lightweight motorcycle here isn't leaving the garage a lot of days. A 700 lb cruiser with a 28-degree rake does just fine, though. I love my Harley LRS. Besides, there's nothing like modifying your Harley Davidson!

I'm not a big fan of cruises but don't hate them either.....Since a sportbike is often uncomfortable on long road trips. One could easily argue that a cruiser with large triple stroage cases, big windscreen & comfortable riding position. Is more practical than a sportbike overall. These days I want a multipurpose bike with plenty of power for streets but also good off road.

its a shame there's not a perfect bike for not the perfect bike for every use. At 55 my back hate sports bikes. For the long touring, 8 hours + a day, i love my Goldwing, (you should really try one). For short day trips, my cruiser is great. and for track days, have my sports bike.

Don't judge a jeep based on the same criteria/tests as a sportscar. Same goes for bikes. Every bike has a purpose/appeal just like every type of music has a purpose/appeal. If you don't value the type of riding that a bike is made for then of course it won't be much fun. I've owned bikes from KTM, Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki and Harley-Davidson and ridden bikes from other brands. I've owned dirt, dual-sport, naked, cruiser, supersport. Enjoyed most of them for what they were good at. Right before the Road Glide I had a 1290 Super Duke. Great bike, but not the right bike for me at this point in my life. My Road Glide is the perfect bike for me when it comes to cruising, now -- Long, relaxed rides, listening to music, myself +/- a passenger +/- stuff. It's low enough to the ground that I can comfortably flat foot (30" inseam) without having to alter the suspension geometry using lowering links, etc. My passengers (wife and children) don't feel like they're sitting way up high in the air. They have a very comfortable seat and backrest, and they're protected well when the elements become unfriendly. We have a great navigation and infotainment system with Android Auto/Apple Car Play and easy-to-access maps (Google maps, Waze) and audio apps (music, radio, podcasts, etc). We have speakers that let me hear my music without drowning out the sounds around me (other vehicles, sirens, etc -- the reason I stopped using a headset for music while riding). It's very stable on the highway, and with practice it's not a chore around town. For what it's worth, it's also very rewarding when you can competently ride a big, heavy bike at low speeds. I didn't get it for power or agility. That wasn't the point. I owned a Japanese cruiser 20 years ago (Suzuki Volusia) and then again about 10 years ago (Kawasaki Vulcan 1700 Classic). I just couldn't get them to make sense for me. They weren't comfortable enough for me or my passenger, and the few accessories available were not great quality (even the OEM ones). Just like anything, you can get a similar experience at a lower price point, but I was never able to make my Suzuki and Kawasaki cruisers ride anywhere near as comfortably as my Harley, nor did they have the same amenities. Don't get me wrong. I don't think Harleys are the be-all-end-all of cruisers. I'm fortunate that I could afford to own one, though, because my Road Glide is absolutely the best cruiser I've ever owned and is the only reason I'm on a cruiser (or even riding) again. My family members actually enjoy riding with me, now. Of the 10 bikes I've owned, this is the only one that they've actually asked to go riding on with me rather than me having to ask them. I had one woman in a parking lot tell her partner that my bike is the type of bike he should get so that she can be comfortable riding with him. He didn't look too pleased, lol.

If you want a good cruiser get a Suzuki M109R. Ducati sucks. Talking about reliability. I ride a cruiser due to the heel toe shifter. I was in a bad car accident when I was 15. Was riding a Kawasaki 500 EX. Before the accident. Any way despite the doctors I did walk again but, I can no longer I long move my left ankle to shift a sport bike. They have came a long way with electronic shifter. So I done the research, and I can get a thumb shifter for the Suzuki Hayabusa. So that is what I'm looking at getting next.

Some of these comments are ridiculous I like bike… I can have fun on a dirt bike, a sport bike, cruiser or even a scooter Basically anything with 2 wheels and an engine, my commute, my Saturday afternoon or my trip across the country will be more fun The idea of giving up riding because I wasn’t on the “right” bike doesn’t make sense

Cruisers look cool. People like to ride around looking, sounding and feeling cool. Pair that with the fun and danger of riding a motorcycle, I can understand why its a thing.
@simplerider3159 Жыл бұрын
Guys buy cruiser because of the culture. Also women like Harley's. Most women don't want to ride their own bike and all they care is to look cool and comfortable. Most women hate the small back seat on sport bikes. They want the big back seat so they can relax, take a nap, raise their arms and yell without having to worry about falling off the bike. Every relationship I had she always tried to talk me into a Harley with a big back seat.

Go ride a Low rider S with stage 2 cam and exhaust and you will see why we love Harleys. People love them because of how much you can customize them. Because your so used to sportbike and naked bikes, if I were you I would rent one for a week or so and put some good miles on it to get used to the riding position and such. Only then you will see why we love em

Ok so there are 2 vehicles to date that I remember doing something special to me when I sat in them. - honda S2000 - 2024 BMW R18 Cruiser (serial#1 for their I think 80'th anniversary model). I remember when I first sat in a Honda S2000 it gave me this "fun to drive" feeling. That's the best way I could explain how good that seating position vs the size and feel of the steering wheel gave me goosebumps (id still love to own one). That R18 BMW felt prestine! The small touches all over that bike from the chromed out exposed driveshaft to the exhaust tips being BMW logos was just something special. Then I sat on it (no homo) with that big ass super wide 1800cc boxer 2 cylinder out in front of you made me wish I had 23k to buy that serial #1 anniversary bike. I imagined that bike rode like a dam dream and is butter smooth. I would imagine riding that machine around would be like riding a time piece. I would imagine the low seating, torquey cruisers makes the riders "feel good" vs the bike "feeling good" to ride. I haven't ridden all types of bikes but at the moment I ride a sport tourer and I love the way sport tourers FEEL to ride. I almost want to say they should be called Sport Grand Tourers because they are such great long distance/long range bikes that comes with cross country power and the storage capacity to carry a vacations worth of stuff (depending on the bike you get). My ST1300 doesn't make me feel good first.....it feels good to ride! Great speed, ample v4 torque and Honda reliability. Any bike used as a cop bike has to be good and so there i went
