Things like this make me so glad that I do not do public facing work, and primarily do work for businesses. Of course, there are still annoying customers, but they are not nearly as bad as general consumers.

Yeah I've seen this before. Some people just don't understand and want their computer to "just keep working" rather than invest in a good computer.

Great video man, fellow tech youtuber here. I have dealt with so many custiomers that wouldnt listen to me. Primarily when I tell them they need a backup and tell them how to do it and of course they dont and then it is somehow my fault when their drive crashes and their data is gone. I am always like, "Oh no problem, that backup procedure I instructed you on will come in handy, lets just pull the data off of your backup" lol - Cool finding your channel

This customer sounds like my best friend who trusted "93% health" SMART data and a (normally reputable) repair shop over my extensive expertise when I tried to tell him his heavily used 4 year old SSD was at end of life cause his OS kept going out. He tried to blame it on viruses, bad cracked Windows ISOs, etc... cause he is very poor and was looking for any escape from paying for a new one by means of confirmation bias. A few months and lots of crashing and boot partition corruption later he asked me what the best choice for his money was for a new one. Needless to say he now basically blindly trusts me for all advise regarding repair of his computers, any computers his neighbors bring to his house for repair, and now he himself got a job at a repair shop to use things I taught him to make some money.

We won't do temporary repairs at my shop for exactly this reason. We will help the customer find a replacement and help with setup and data transfer in a scenario like this. We can't waste our time, damage our reputation and get paid next to nothing from a client who clearly doesn't have much money or doesn't want to spend it. Not all customers are good customers. Try to get as many good customers as possible. The others may impede the growth and success of your business if you allow it.

I definitely agree with you! In this case, it was someone I know personally, and they didn't make a stink about it when I reminded them of what I recommended the first time this machine was brought to me.

@@CubeComputerChannel ohhhh... yeah. I got some friends and family just like that. In that case, forget what I said. Different rules apply. Thanks for the reply!
