Hi Mr. Rutten, I think it takes a lot of courage - especially in these days - to openly state that you are a catholic (or Christian for that matter), so I want to say thank you for your courage to share your story. I am from the Netherlands as well, been growing in interest in Christian faith since some time now and I follow your sharings with great interest. 🙏

Oh Bas you have no idea how much the Lord has used you to touch me.! Almost 2 years ago I found the Lord (also through true miracles in my case) and due to my self-centered nature I have been searching for the "right" church ever since. Almost 18 years ago I was a fat lonely boy looking for acceptance after being bullied and excluded for many years. Then I saw your videos and tapes on self-defense and took up MMA. Your instructional videos were the start of my self-confidence. After a few years, I met my wife through this self-confidence and was given my first son by the Lord. I now have 3 children and am in a situation that I could not even have imagined in my wildest dreams. Two years ago, I had to take a break from my sport (which had previously been one of my priorities in life) due to the coronavirus measures and was empty inside despite my family. And that's exactly when the Lord drew me to Himself and showed me what the only true purpose in life must be. Now, after this long journey in my life, I am at a point where I trust in Jesus 100% but have not yet joined any Christian denomination. And now you come and tell us about your journey and that you now belong completely to the Catholic Church. Just yesterday I was still faced with the decision of whether to join the Catholic Church completely or not. And I asked the Lord for a sign... I am sure that this is a sign and that I have found my resting point. I still have the poster I ordered from you ~18 years ago with your picture and the quote (handwritten): "Godspeed and Party On!" on it including your signature. I thank you and especially the Lord for this path and this temporary(!) end! I look forward to meeting you in heaven too. God is good! ps: I will also post this comment under your other video and hope you will read it.

Please take the time and study youtube.../mhfm1 and the information on their website. In order to be saved one must be catholic, since only the catholic faith is the authentic religion established by Jesus Christ. Simply calling oneself catholic while holding position contrary to catholic doctrine does not make one a true catholic. The apostate sect of Vatican II is not the Catholic Church but a modernist counterfeit church, a product of the prophesied Great Apostasy.

@krujuice With love, respect, and sympathy, I would say the Catholic Church is a sister church, but which has left many right things that used to be practiced in the first millennium, and added many altered things. I am not mentioning individual human fallings that occur here and there. Study a bit of history, with an unbiased and critical view, and you will find the true faith in the Orthodox Church with the unchanged tradition as to the essentials. Anyway, I respect your choice and Bas' one.

When I first started going to church,I think it was about my 4 time, the pastors wife spoke the words clay and iron over me,i didn't have a clue what she was talking about,I remember it well because the pastor repeated what she had just said to me,well obviously thinking that I'm stupid, when I got to the book of Daniel, when nebuchadnezzar had his dream about the statue with feet of clay and iron,I remembered what was said to me and fully understand what she meant, well she spoke those words into existence because my church attendance has been very poor, the only reason I still go is because of my group,I don't want to leave the church,I don't know what time do

Accidents as a child that I miraculously walked away from, the night terrors/sleep paralysis from when I was a child under 5 years old. Memories of which are still so vivid to this day. Coincidences/events that are just too perfectly orchestrated to be by chance. This has all lead me to the bible. My biggest problem right now is knowing how to live my life correctly and serve the right purpose. So much evil and so much confusion. I struggle daily and it stresses me badly. Bas Thank you so much for standing up for God, in this age that takes courage most people do not have. I’ve met you once and your fighting style/ideas changed me for the better, and I respect you for that. Having said that I would be wrong for not sharing the reason Jesus Christ suffered and died on the cross. It was to pay the penalty of ours sins which is a literal place called hell. Jesus knew it was impossible for any man to live without sin and be worthy of or earn their way into heaven so He committed the ultimate and final sacrifice by shedding his blood and dying on the cross for a sinful world. If we could live in a way to earn heaven and stay out of hell Jesus didn’t need to die on that cross, but He did. We need to repent of our sins and ask Jesus to save us forgive us and make him lord of our lives at that point and not until that point we become a child of God and the Holy Spirit comes to live within us and we are “saved” I hope you are well sir, and thank you very much for years of entertainment.

Reason: I can no longer deny that it’s the truth.

Go a little bit deeper and you shall find the one, true, holy, Catholic Church that our Lord Jesus Christ founded on Pentecost: the Orthodox Church! God bless you and your family, and may He lead us all to truth, so that you may come to our Mother, the Church.

I never heard that the Church pays for Catholic schooling. If that were the case, why are parents paying for it? My parents had help from family to pay for my sister and me to go, but could only afford 1 year and our brothers remained in public school. I've heard the garbage about the Catholic Church has all the money and art and so on. They ask why don't they give it to people who need it, blah, blah, blah. It's frustrating, because you can't defend it when you see the mismanagement of money, stately homes for bishops and so much other nonsense. It's just hard trying to defend the True spiritual meaning behind the Church when we see human actions ruling poorly at every turn. It is a long hard road.

Hey Bas, I am a born Catholic but never really had a structure in going to church, etc. Coming to my twenties and thirties I started to doubt the Church because of all the scandals (there you go) that happened in the church. Always thinking why I should want to be part of a group that does not hang those abusing preachers and bishops up to the highest church tower. It made me wander I think of becoming pagan, muslim, budhist, etc...away from the church. But there was one thing which I could never let go: Jesus as my brother, my teacher, my father actually everything. So I have been coming and going to the church and trying to find a structure in my belief in the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. In the beloved and blessed Virgin Mary and I hope this time I am here to stay, that I find my way and don't let those scandals and other things fester in my mind and drag me away from the church. Have a blessed day Bas! by the way; I could have reacted in Dutch, but this way others can understand without google translating it 🙂

Thank about the good things that happened in life where you (before it happened) it was not gonna happen. There are always moments like that, I have a whole bunch which tell me that everything happens for a reason. Yesterday I talked about an old trainer friend of mine, last time I spoke about him was at least 20 years ago since he's from Holland I live here and his name never comes up. This morning I had a WhatsApp text from a friend of mine inviting me to that persons surprise party. You know that situations like this happen all the time. 20 years nothing I talk about him and I see the text from my friend. I looked at the time he send it, since holland is 9 hours ahead of where I was, that is within the hour that I talked about this person. Moments like this you KNOW it's all 100% connected. Write those moment down, because you forget them, and when you have less faith, read them back! Godspeed

@@OfficialBasRutten thank you for the idea of writing down those moments, i'll do that from now on. I'll always hope for a better tomorrow and i'll never denounce my faith, but when almost my entire life has been the way it is, i question whether there really is a reason for all this suffering. I truly appreciate you reading and replying to comments, but i won't bother you any more, for a while at least. I have a lot of respect for you and wish you the best. Goodbye

You hit the nail on the head everyone try’s to cut down people places and religions cause something bad has happened but never look at what they have done, iv only went to a Catholic Church twice but I do agree with what you said

Nice talk, Bas. I too was baptized Roman Catholic and fell away from the faith; but when I was called back, I found the Orthodox Church instead for a number of reasons. I respect devout Catholics as our estranged siblings in Christ, glory to God for all things. And a correction: the number of martyrs under Communism in the 20th century is in the millions, I've seen estimates around 12 million in the Eastern bloc. "Tens of thousands" only covers the number of clergy martyred in the USSR. We should not forget the magnitude of persecution that is possible, and that it happened not so long ago.

Great message, thank you for sharing your faith. I’m also a man of faith. Even though I make mistakes all the time. I’m striving to be cognizant of how other people perceive a strong man with a faith Christ. Who do we represent? I ask myself I need to be the best I can be.

I love it, keep doing that, we are all full of mistakes, recognizing them so you don't make them anymore is the best way to handle it!

Hey Bas, just wanted to thank you for standing up in our current time. Not many men or people in general have enough balls to say what you said. I appreciate it and so does God.

I loved both of your videos!!! thank you so much for making them. The video on the ghost stories was very freaky. Because I had all the same stuff happen to me as well.

Like I said, the only things required is to be good to yourself and others. Seems like a good deal to me, it's hard though, as I talked about, but we can do it if we toughen up! Godspeed

It is amazing that you are passing your perspective I think that most people experience a phase of rebellion not believing in God yet the more you analyze life you see how present God is in it ; you are right that doing well in every metric of life will create jealousy in other people . Also training martial arts which I have trained a bit in everything will make you a better human being ; all respect Bas the best for you and your family

Sorry to hear about your depression. I have had that for 3 or 4 months only and never knew how bad it is, just thought to tell people "just be happy", and then I had it, super scary, suicidal. Very happy it went away but now when I see those "commercials for medication" oh man, now I know how really hard it is. So I wish you the very best my friend, will pray for you! Godspeed

Wow. I just came across your channel. What a wonderful video. You spoke facts. Facts that I can use when conversing with protestant friends who do not see the beauty of the Church but can only criticize.

I had Protestants telling me that they stopped going to the Catholic Church because of the pedophiles, so I sent them this article written by a Protestant. Oops. www.dispatch.com/story/opinion/letters/2018/10/07/book-reveals-pedophila-in-protestant/9620592007/

Love your stuff and am encouraged about your return to your faith. That said, I would challenge the statement that the Roman Catholic Church was established by Jesus. Harvard and many of the Ivey league Schools are not producing the level of education they once did. Like many Universities, they have moved from educating to educating/ indoctrinating students. Forbidding Priests to get married contributes to the plague of Pedophilia and all due respect, Hiding the issue and not taking responsibility, often just moving predatory Priests around where they can avoid consequences and even violate other kids is without excuse. Be transparent and take your hits and then fix it. I could go on and on but.....

I'm happy for you Baz that you found God it's one step closer to the truth. I used to be catholic from a Catholic family and i struggled for years with their teachings and in the end I followed Jesus words as they are in the bible. The Catholic churches teachings are far from what Jesus taught, Jesus taught us to keep the Jewish law of moses in our hearts, the Catholic Church doesn't do this as the 2nd commandment is don't bow down and worship idols and images which catholics do with saints and mary, Jesus taught us to pray to the father and in his name and no other. The Catholic pope can change laws and rules if he so wishes, only God can do this. If the Catholic Church really followed Jesus they wouldn't have killed other Christians and Jews for believing different in past history, if they were so confident that their faith was from Jesus why did they ban people from owning and reading the bible at points in history also. I pray you read Jesus words with an open heart and see why Catholic teaching is contrary to what Jesus taught.
