Another aspect to consider is the personality of Catalina, in Gta San Andreas she was more funny and like a big parody. I don’t think Catalina hated Claude. She was just crazy and still loved CJ. She realised that CJ never really loved her like she wanted to be loved and was more of a means to an end. However I don’t think that was Carl’s intention - he makes his intentions quite clear from the beginning. He’s capable of manipulating someone, sure, but he was terrified of Catalina so he went along with her BS. Also I think he did have some sort of affection towards Catalina because she did not backstab him and was in desperate need of someone to trust, someone to rely on, and Catalina delivered and kept her end of the bargain. I don’t think though that she would’ve killed Carl for not reciprocating her love though because she seemed to care about Cesar and killing Carl would greatly upset Cesar so she didn’t do it. As the Professional said, Carl had an opportunity to leave her behind in the bank robbery but did not because he was betrayed by his supposed friends and said it would ultimately doom others but it’s not Carl’s fault as he likely believed she would get herself killed sooner or later. Catalina is way more intelligent than that though. But Claude is more determined than she ever thought because the guy was only motivated by his feelings and his feelings of hatred propelled him to advance the criminal underworld and kill Catalina.

I think CJ tried to give her a little benefit. After getting the money back from the hillbillies in the quad mission, he told her that she was a nice girl but she had to relax, and that he knew cold blooded cats who never acted that badly lol. So even though, Carl was more interested in the money, I felt like Catalina could have worked up on being his ride or die chick, if she wasn't so toxic. She was just adding fuel to fire that was already there and he didn't want nor need those type of problems. Being with a chick that's going possibly blow his brains out, just for walking past a chick lol.

Both Catalina's & Salvatore Leone's betrayal on Claude(2001) is the result of untrust behaviour formed by the actions(betrayal) of CJ(1992) Here CJ is the culprit, he profited by betraying them as a result Claude had to face it's consequences indirectly Now i can relate why Ryder & sweet calls him a 'busta'

There's honestly no telling with Catalina. CJ was not her first lover by her own dialogue and the fact that next to her shack is what seems to be graves. Possibly her previous lovers. The only difference between CJ and Claude is that CJ showed resistance to her where Claude was at her every command. She liked that CJ gave her some push back but didn't like that he was focused on his own task at hand rather that reciprocating her love. Which as stated before, she's killed her previous lovers, there's no telling how long that would last and how quickly she could end CJ without any hint of betrayal. So CJ got lucky he terminated that relationship sooner than later.

Catalina knew Claude was useless the moment he lost that race. She didn't love Claude because there was no excitement there. Seeing as how she was toxic as hell, there was a big piece of her that loved being treated like crap, so it doesn't make sense but Claude was too loyal and that possibly scared her. She was in love with CJ, because for one, CJ was the only one that can put up with her, when things got serious, he wouldn't take no shit, even from her (which was a turn on for her), he knew how to hold his own in robberies, he rejected her everytime she expressed her feelings for him.
