This is the air combat game I’ve been wanting. Check Your 6 is a great game that I really enjoy but doesn’t give me the big bomber formation feel without getting unwieldy very quickly. Cant wait to try out these rules!

Very Nice. When can we expect Pacific Theatre? Midway would be awesome!

Having played many large 144 scale WW2 WOW games with 5 or 6 players a side handling 3 to 4 planes each. They take 3-4 hours unless someone is very unlucky!! FITS looks to play quickly from watching last weeks game. Defiantly on my try list. LITKO announced the v flight stands for FITS today. looking forward to more content. Miles did great for a newbie!

Interesting as I did AH Midway double blind at MillenniumCon 2 years ago using miniatures. Great fun had by all.

Really interesting. Air Combat is a tough nut to crack as the "core" mechanics have been kind of unchanged for decades. I like the completely different approach and trying to raise the operational level and decision making to go with it.

Campaign games as a series of bombing missions is the way to go with this. Add B-24's to Europe and B-26's (Catch 22??) with a series of mission attacks on Italy etc. Early BoB with HE111, Doniers and JU88's with Spits and Hurries. Pacific isn't as many mission types as I recall except 1945 B29's, Franks Tonys and Jacks.

Play tested this game. Mark as always has created a great fast paced realistic game. Perfect convention game. Looking forward to the guest from another club. Always promoting our great little hobby.

Just new to this game information, what chance of the air war in the west after the Battle of Britain, the RAF rhubarbs, circus and rodeo missions where they tried to lure the luftwaffe into battle. A big group of fighters escorting a small number of bombers. The German fighters punching well above their numbers vs the. Sometimes huge numbers of raf. Perhaps the air war over dieppe where both sides had fighter and bombers sweeps

Great to see more content on the new game. I am interested in some of the air battles during the Winter war between Finland and Russia and also the Continuation war. It would be great to use these rules for a number of different theaters of operation.

This is great. I have lots of boxes of 1/700 WWII planes just looking for a game. Love the large scale, big air-battle concept, but never found a rule set before that addressed that. I'd looked at the 'Blue Sky' series of rules by John Stanoch as they cover big games (Midway and the 8th AF bombing campaign over Europe) - but they use planes that move and maneuver individually; way too much detail for the scale of battle being represented. In the absence of any commercially available rules, I'd resigned myself to working up a home-brew set for element based air battles. Then along comes Fire in the Sky and hey, you've done the job for me. Perfect timing! Regarding suggested theatres for future releases, I'd love to see the Mediterranean and North Africa covered. How about a Seige of Malta campaign that ties in with scenarios for Fire at Sea? Keep up the great work.

Really looking forward to playing this game thanks for this video and for the playthrough video! Will there be a PoD version (please)? And I'd love to see a Pacific War version (or two). Maybe Pearl Harbor to Bismarck Sea and then a later war book that has Marianas Turkey Shoot to the 29th Bombardment Group's campaign over Japan...
@Carl-MGR9 ай бұрын
The issue with PoD is that it’s only 32 pages. We’re looking into it but that may be cost prohibitive. And yes, there will eventually be pacific scenarios for sure

What scale planes are you using with those stands.

Enjoying the rules as they are, however the prospect of blending them with "Fire at Sea" is very exciting. Especially looking forward to a Malaya campaign, but Crete & Norway would also be contenders for a FitS\FaS fix...

7:42 I mean those aren't dogfights their just enganments... Guy sees guym guy fails to see him , guy is now dead... Which is normal for all air wars but calling it a dogfight is a bit odd... A dog fit is more Guy sees guy, guy sees guy/lives they fight till one dies or new guy comes to save guy or AA/ground gets free kill or both guys run out of stuff wave at each other and leave... Which honestly I now want to make a game that mixes Ace combat's campaign, War thunder's varity and DCS systems, BVR fights at a low/mid chunch micro game level at the personal level but you climb the ranks to 4 star general or something... That may be impossible to be one micro game but I want to try.

Were there really Zeros in use over Malaya? Wasn't it the JAAF using Nates?
@drregnewell88908 ай бұрын
Some,but usually Japanese Army Oscars
@currybr8 ай бұрын
@@drregnewell8890 Thanks, I thought it was mostly Nates. In either case, the Brewster Buffalos versus Zeros narrative for Malaya that is usually told, is almost completely false.

I mean the concept is great but I don't think you were the right dev for the job... This video is very I read a book about a ww2 dogfight once... Not I'm a air combat guy who fly's sims all the time and made a game where you can live out historical air battles as realistic as I can make it.
@GreenBlueWalkthrough8 ай бұрын
Honestly I think the main inclution that is most odd is the inclustion of micro management over the crafts with normally stops at the squadron level even today and espicaly back then... But if you want the game to be different then a speadsheet simulator where you only roll dice for effects like how many bommbers are killed and damaged and how much it's not very acrate to what a cornal or general would do IRL... Now what you could do is have the big option feel and just forget about being a general and juwst pretend to be each squadron leader and just command a battle full of them.... At that scale you only really need 3 states of manuver High energy, manuvering, low energy and just use a grid of light and heavy fighters and bombers and the flover comes from the force and maybe a unique ability for each frame at each skill level inludeijng to aces and ace of aces... You kinda have this I think but it's not abstract enough/ in the right way to get the feel you want... While I don't think I've liked any of your games I still love their concpts and your trying and have made a good game so yeah just could be better is alll.
