The part talking about one of the brothers hating their mom was actually sexually assaulted and harassed by her! It was stated in a trial. Thats why he hates her so much. Both parents were both evil and sick.

I don't think I'd like to watch cases on there, certainly not recent cases. I wouldn't trust them. Historical cases, maybe. Netflix realised that people are interested in court cases, and now it's their new thing to film a case, repackage it, and get it out quick as they can to make money. More power to Netflix, they're a business and they've found something that works well for them. I don't choose to consume it though.

I did a reading on The Menedez Brothers a while ago and you saw the same things I did. I totally got a cult vibe too. I sensed the mom was distant and the father was abusive and controlling and got whatever he wanted! I remember when all of it happened and watching the news make the boys seem to be unappreciative brats wanting money. It's so sad how things turned out for them. They don't seem like they acted for money but for self preservation.
@accesstotheredcarpet
@accesstotheredcarpet 2 жыл бұрын
You got a bit of that information wrong. Ant specifically said that money was not the motivating factor in the murders and that the brothers were not educated about finances like getting life insurance etc. they didn’t understand money at all. The father was sexually raping the brothers whilst the mom was complicit throughout. It was such a messed up family that the brothers had enough and snapped that led them to kill the parents. A lady in the comments earlier mentioned that she was visiting a friend at the prison that one of the brothers are incarcerated at said she felt like the brothers should have never been given life sentence. Based on from what she learned during the visits to her friend at the prison. So, you need to watch Ant’s reading again. Also, research the murders story in the archived articles on what the real motives were. You can’t call kids brats when they have been constantly raped by the parent such as what exactly happened to this case. Sad story!

TW: SA! Thank you for doing this reading. I have been fascinated by this case for years and watched tons of interviews of them and other family members. Allot of them turned the blind eye, they knew the abuse was happening but didn’t stop it. And the organisation could be *allegedly* the dad being part of a big pedophile ring. He was the CEO of the RCA label (now Sony music label) and he managed allot of young artists. Some say his connections even go into the famous children boy band “Menudo”. Ricky Martin was apart of this boy band. They were one if not THE biggest Latin boy band group. If you look up “José Menendez Menudo” you will find a picture of him and the boyband including little Ricky Martin. All the members (except Ricky) came out saying they were SAd and exploited as little children while they were in the boy band. They would be replaced as soon as they turned 16 and their parents were mostly poor so they gave all their parental rights away to the management.

ant, i think the family member who betrayed them that you were picking up on was their mom, erik testified that he did not tell her of jose's abuse because he wanted to protect her and not burden her until it became too much for him to handle -- and when he finally did, she told him she already knew, and erik said in his testimony, verbatim, that he felt betrayed by this. maybe that's why it came in so strong.

It makes me so sad to think that if this trial was today that they may have had a different outcome - even if it was a reduced sentence like the DiDi and Rose Blanchard case. The thing that was sabotaged was one of the brother’s tennis careers. It was taking off and would mean independence and travel, taking him away from the house and the grip/influence of his parents (mostly Dad). It’s all just…tragic.

Wow, 100% spot on. I have chills. Keep in mind, this is based on what I read and heard from various accounts myself: 2:18-True, they had a close loving bond. Erik said that Lyle was more like a father to him than an older brother. Also being fed up with the past, Erik said that when they bought the guns, he was never going to let their father touch him again. 2:43-Only marriages I believe but very troubled with fights and infidelity. 2:50-Lyle was expected to be perfect and fill the role expected of him. He said that he was closer to his father and did not get along with his mother. 3:14-I think so, it was self defense but also premeditated and by the end it became a kill or be killed situation. 3:50-Yes that was Kitty alright. 4:44-That one is very creepy but you're right. They are in prison forced to relive this monent forever, until recently they were separated and isolated. To a lot of people, he and Kitty looked like the blameless victims. It took years for people to come around to the brother's side and believe them whereas if it was reported then and there, their reputations would have taken serious hits but only now 30 years later other things are coming to light. So yes, for over 30 years, Jose did win. 5:56-This accounts for their behavior after the crime and the various mistakes like the spending spree, telling Oziel, not destroying escape plans letters, letting Norma write the book etc. As me, my Mom, and sister said, "They were abused absolutely, but they really didn't help their case any." Unlike say Jeffrey Dahmer or the Iceman, they weren't serial killers with a blood lust, money hungry, or professionals. They were kids who were fed up, scared, angry, and not very bright. 6:14-Yes, their close bond was evidence of that. Also Erik at the time had various learning disabilities and was described as having the emotional intelligence of an 8 to 10 year old. Lyle even says says now that he would have taken Erik, forced him into the car, ran away, and took their chances as though Erik would have been incapable of making those decisions on his own. It's also worth noting that Lyle exhibited a childlike nature as well in that he talked to and played with stuffed animals until he was about 17. 6:32-That could be Oziel who recorded their sessions and whose girlfriend turned them in. Despite insisting that it wasn't the Mom, it also lines up with her too. According to Erik, Kitty told them that she knew about the abuse for years and didn't say anything. She also took part by abusing and molesting Lyle. So she did betray them. 7:02-No need to elaborate on that one definitely abuse. 8:50-Yes, the initial plan was that Erik would have attended Princeton with Lyle or at least lived with him there and played tennis. Their father let him apply to various colleges but specifically not Princeton. (Lyle thought that Jose didn't think that Erik was goid enough. Personally I think it's because Jose knew that it would make them happy but also just as afraid that they would start talking to each other about what he did). Even after the murders, Lyle still tried to make arrangements to move his brother to Princeton. 9:30-Trauma bond. Well that is pretty obvious. 10:55-Spooky! The inciting incident that led to them expecting their father to kill them was after Erik admitted the molestation, Lyle confronted his Dad and said that he was never going to touch him and if he did, he would report it. Jose said something like they made their choice and that he would do what he had to do. 14:25-This one is so eerie! Because now since this video aired, it has been reported that Roy Rosello of Menudo admitted that Jose molested him too! Its only been reported in the past maybe year or so if that. Also there was found a letter that Erik wrote to his cousin one year before the murders where he admitted the molestation. They may even get released. 15:06-He dies with a secret that was uncovered.... until now! 16:00-Executive Producer of RCA would have put him in contact with various young recording artists, most prominently Menudo. 17:30-I don't think that they knew that at the time but they certainly do now and who knows how many others would have been hurt had Jose remained unpunished? I have a feeling that if he lived and Lyle and Erik reported it, if that wouldn't have stopped him the Me Too Movement certainly would have. Dang, Ant you're good!

Also after you said dad got what he wanted, my initial gut reaction was that dad would have took himself out which you eventually came to. I was so happy you validated that because it means I have an inkling of intuition lol Edit: just watched 1.5 hours about the case and watching those boys have to testify about their abuse broke me. The fact that the public mocked them and made them a laughing stock is so gut wrenching. A former juror had said it best: those parents were terrorists that created bombs that killed them.
