Why did these companies partner with Nazi Germany?

Several well-established American companies aided Nazi Germany during the Holocaust, directly profiting from the atrocities perpetrated against the Jewish People.
These include well-known businesses like IBM, which supplied data processing systems to the Nazi regime, and Ford, whose German subsidiary produced military vehicles for the Wehrmacht.
The majority of individuals involved in the decision to do business with Nazi Germany were motivated by greed rather than anti-semitism. The question remains whether or not these corporations should continue to be held responsible today for the role they played in the murder of Jews during World War II.

About Explainers: From ancient Jewish traditions to the modern State of Israel, we explain it all. Diving into anything and everything related to Jewish culture, history, and even religion.
Understand Jewish holidays, Israeli politics, Jewish diasporic communities, and more. Learn about Judaism in pop culture, debunking myths about Jews, and explore obscure Israeli landmarks. We’re asking questions as basic as “What is the Talmud?”, and as obscure as “How did hip-hop boost Kosher wine sales?”, and everything in between.
About Unpacked: We provide nuanced insights by unpacking all things Jewish. People are complex and complicated - yet we’re constantly being pushed to oversimplify our world. At Unpacked we know that being complex makes us more interesting. Because of this, we break the world down with nuance and insight to drive your curiosity and challenge your thinking.

Hugo Boss was a Nazi party member. Ferdinand Porsche built armored vehicles and cars for the Nazis. Volkswagen was literally a Nazi project and Hitler contributed to the design of the VW Beetle.

My father in law was a bomber pilot in WWII (B-26 8th Air Force). I remember the look on his face when his daughter and I pulled into his driveway driving a new Mitsubishi Galant. I asked him what he thought of the car and he said, “From the people who brought us Pearl Harbor..”. We drove our other car (Chevy) to family events after that.

@@mr.normalguy69 well, he gave me the benefit of the doubt since I was a young naïve guy. However, I did learn quickly about Mitsubishi and VW and Krups and Porsche and even standard oil are used to send tankers off the coast of Nova Scotia to refuel German U-boats, in 1940 and 41. Things are not so black-and-white, especially when it comes to money and tyranny.

Just got to say as a member of the first generation of Jews born to survivors of the Holocaust...NEVER FORGET, NEVER FORGIVE! They knew what they were doing, they knew it was wrong, & yet they did it anyway to make money. As a proud American I also have to say that the US Government should not again sign contracts with these companies until not only they pay full reparations to the survivors or their heirs, but also that an equal amount goes to Isreal & both the survivors or their heirs get a full & public apology along with one to Isreal. Why do you think so much military equipment is built for Isreal in Germany? It is Germany giving Isreal their repeatedly.
