German/Dutch/Danish/Norwegian/Swedish, etc., is easier for most speakers of Germanic-based languages. French/Spanish/Portugese/Italian, etc., is easier for most Latin-based languages. Why? Because they have similar structures. However, English is in that weird position of being in between Latin and Germanic, but mostly Germanic. It's both a melting pot language and a bit of a freak show. Portugese is a bit weird too for having the Latin structure but simultaneously sounding strangely Russian, or Polish, or German to outsiders.
