Couple of weeks ago one of my friends got kicked out from his house by his girlfriend (not gonna lie, guy is addicted he drinks about 8 beers a day) i let him use 1 of my rooms in my house. After watching me for a while he said he wants to quit drinking and smoking and he will start from new year, told him if he waits he will never quit, do it now. He started couple of days ago and looks motivated. I will save this man, thats my new years resolution. Happy New Year Everybody.

Choosing sobriety has been a battle. I started off with wanting three days without drinking. Failed horribly but kept at it and evaluated the effects of "moderately" drinking. Looking at the hangovers gauging them then eventually feeling pride for remembering hangovers before i took a drink and not being hung over the day after. After getting sober I've noticed my goals are increasing along with the feeling of overwhelm but it's no longer saying fuck it let's drink lol. I went for a morning walk yesterday in the cold. Because I was known for drinking I got gifts of bottles that I've been brainstorming who to give them away to. It feels good not giving into temptations. It also felt good to know the money I "wasted" this year went to gifts instead of my piss. If there's anything we can be resolved about it's what this channel has been encouraging, progress. If you're like me and want to start healing your life and body, small efforts help more than trying to evil kenevil something as hard as breaking a chemical addiction. Best of luck to everyone working towards having a healthier mindset for 2024. Embrace your hearts desires.

Hey mate, thank you to give this comment, I really appreciated reading it. 29 days sober tmrw Jan 3rd 2024. Put myself in treatment to finally give sobering right up a real try. I had a few hard days, i even thought be4 that id still drink after i get out, just less often n have more control. But after doing this for 4 weeks so far, i dont want to drink again. If i can continue, only good things will happen instead of thinking im going to drink sometime n stop the next day, ill think about what if i just dont drink at all, iv come this far already, n i feel so much better besides the odd anxiety now n then or sadness. I spent my christmas in treatment and new years n i dont feel bad about missing out on parties. Instead im starting to see it all different. I truly think the hardest part is the first week or 2. Also not changing your environment or activities leads back to drinking again. When i get out im not goin to sit around at home n get all lonely n sad n stuff, im just happy to feel like im back baby. The me i used to be be4 i let the bottle take over n press that "easy button" over and over for years. 31 years old n im finally setting goals n stuff n actually feel like i can achieve them. 3 weeks left tgen im out in the crazy world again but im learning tools and believe in myself.

Doing resolutions isn't doing anything purposefully for yourself and only yourself. That's why 80% fail

Being sober is weird. So much time on my hands.

Add a healthy habit to take the place of the booze... lots of people start a fitness or exercise plan when they leave alcohol in the past- maybe join a gym, start taking walks or running/jogging? Yoga, lifting weights, there are tons of ways to pass the newfound free time you have available to you now that you aren't boozing.

Ah yes...self discovery feels different when you've been hiding from yourself for so long!

I'm not much of a typist on the telephone so if my last comment misspelled your name please understand I use speech to text but I'll make sure that I'm proactive on making sure your name is spelled right the next time God bless

It's all good. It took my mom like 38 years to remember what day was my birthday so... 😂

Welcome! You can do this, you are definitely in a good place to get support and inspiration, these videos have been a huge help to me. I am on 112 days alcohol-free! I come here every morning to watch one of these videos (or listen to one on my drive to work). We have all had our Day One experience, in my case I had several "Day Ones"... as long as you stick with it, it is going to get easier and better as you stack up sober days!
