You only realise how true this statement is when life throws the appropriate situation at you. I had read the book before and never grasped the meaning of this line. Yes, you can't change what gets thrown at you, but you can damn sure adapt yourself to catch whatever is thrown. The flip side though is that with every adaptation you make to yourself, you end up changing parts of you that you can never again change back. You are no longer a constant person but someone who changes all the time to adapt. What you used to think of as "happy times" or "sad times" start looking like exactly the same thing, as neutral situations that "happened" to you to which you gave the appropriate response. Ultimately you will end up not looking at situations as "happy" or "sad" situations, but just life situations to which you "react", whatever that reaction may be. It will either end up making you stable as a rock, or insane, depending on the level of churn.

I never ask why bad things do happen to me, but rather why good things don’t happen to me. Everyone’s life will have bad moments, but what about when life doesn’t have any good ones?
@bubbyradio9112
@bubbyradio9112 2 ай бұрын
I know how you feel in these moments. But saying this with the best intent. It all comes from within. If you’re not looking for anything good you won’t find it. You get to decide what’s a good and bad moment. Obviously there’s objective shitty things that happen. But beyond that

Honestly I’ve accepted that life is just bad, it will likely not get better. I was born disabled and became chronically ill at age 11, my entire life adults have said “aw don’t be sad, things will improve!”, this just gave me empty hope. My symptoms get worse with age & that is hard to accept. But I am much happier since trying to understand that not everyone is given a great lot in life & that’s it, It’s not worth screaming at the sky “why?” about the dozens of big & scary things I can’t change. Poverty is rarely escapable so I’m just gonna try to chill until I die

I’m always the positive friend, always helping others! I don’t even hate myself but things will just go wrong for me!! This self hatred don’t even sound right (coming from a psych student). I love myself & doing a lot of great things but nothing stays right for me! I just want a good day or week without it being snatched. Nothing to do with how I feel about myself.

Same here. It’s awful. In my case, I know it’s caused in part, or in majority because I’m ugly. And the most annoying part is that people have been gaslighting me, my whole life telling me that I’m not ugly or that looks don’t matter all the while I’m still being ignored and treated like crap and disrespected. It’s most prevalent in terms of my romantic life. People who I try to date or get to know always end up just completely ghosting me and treating me like I don’t matter at all as a human being. It makes me legitimately suicidal. I didn’t choose to look the way that I look.

Self-hatred is when we internalize the hatred people who didn't love us had towards us. It becomes so difficult to love yourself after you've reached that point. Suicidal thoughts come in package with the thoughts of self-hatred.

That's bullshit advice. No, you can't just sit and hope that it's "going to be ok." No, once life throws a challenge at you that knocks you out of your current shell, it will never again be the "ok" that you were used to before. This is your life now and you better learn to get used to the "new ok". It's going to be very tough, and the only way to be "ok" again is to face it head on, equip yourself with everything needed to handle the challenge until it no longer intimidates you. Don't ever think that it will go away, because that will stop you from doing everything needed to equip yourself for the challenge.

You have my compassion, and I have _often_ felt that way -- how unlucky can a person get? 🤬😣 Last year sucked for me too -- and many of us. I saw the passing of _multiple_ people who I knew personally. At the same time, I think this is an excellent illustration of the _damage that superstitions can cause._ While I have a tendency to focus and dwell on negative things I'm experiencing, I have the benefit of being a skeptic and a scientific thinker. That makes it easy for me to dismiss the notion of curses, demons, spells or other _baseless nonsense._ There's simply no evidence for it. Still I feel for you.

@@deviousj5868 For anyone with these questions... I can share a little proverb my mother was fond of when I was growing up. "Life is like a rollercoaster, it's a series of ups and downs." The thing I always struggled with is determining when the "down" part would end. "When will I get an up?" I would always ask myself, as though my rollercoaster had already dropped off the tallest height and was now on a flat track against the ground and had been there for some time. It *is* very troubling, devastating even. But sometimes the changes you need are stagnant because they require some form of action, action which is difficult at best to muster on your part. But there exists a method of lifting yourself up from the bottom of the track, a powered assist like those chain mechanisms that rollercoasters have. It's called "other people you trust." They are the ones who can pull you up again. But it often requires letting them know that you need assistance, which is also difficult. My best friend (who also serves as my chain fairly often) is really fond of making clear requests by using the DEAR MAN formula. If you don't know what this is, give it a google. It's usually used for requesting that others modify their behavior, but if you think about it, do some planning, perhaps you can request assistance from someone you trust by asserting that it hurts you when you're clearly in need of help, but they haven't acted quickly enough? This requires vulnerability, being open, and a willingness to listen on the part of the recipient, but the DEAR MAN strategy is *designed* to operate with humans in mind, and though it might be a bit scary at first, you might find that people are far more receptive to requests made this way than you think. Give it a try, and maybe you'll get a helping hand to pull you out of the mud! 🙂

Keep in mind the human brain is designed to find negatives and remember them well, much better than positives. We tend to remember and dwell on the bad things much more than good things that happen to us. This "feature" worked well to protect us from rival tribes or wild animals, but it's pretty problematic in today's modern world. Bad things happen as often as good things, but we seem to ignore the good. Practicing mindfulness helps you notice the positives. When a friend asks how you are, it feels better to be able to say "OK. The holiday last week was great, but my cat died on Sunday" rather than just "Crappy. My cat died on Sunday."

Hey, I just want to tell you that God loves you more than you could ever want to be loved! He wants a personal relationship with you if you will let Him into your heart. The most important decision you will ever make is where you will spend eternity. The Bible says that you can know that you have eternal life in heaven, but If you are putting your trust in anything other than the finished work of Jesus on the cross to get you to heaven, you do not understand God's way. The Bible says that we are all sinners. When God created Adam and Eve, He made them perfect without sin, but they chose to disobey God and became sinful in nature. This sin nature was passed down to all humanity. Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Our sin separates us from God. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; A holy, righteous God cannot allow sin into heaven. Sin must be paid for and God's price for sin is death, but not just a physical death, but a spiritual death which means separation from God forever in hell. Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. In the Old Testament when man sinned, God required the sacrifice of a perfectly spotless lamb as a substitute in the place of the sinner. The blood of that lamb was only a temporary payment for their sin and so this had to be done often. Jesus Christ, God's Son took on flesh, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life and offered Himself as that perfect, spotless Lamb and shed His blood as payment for the sins of the whole world. John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. Jesus loved us so much He WILLINGLY came and allowed wicked men to spit on Him, mock Him and scourge Him until He was unrecognizable. They stripped him naked, thrust a crown of thorns on His head and nailed His hands and feet to a cross. He hung in agony for hours bleeding, thirsting, struggling for every breath. He died innocently in our place so that we could be saved from going to hell. It was His blood that satisfied the just demands of a holy God. God will not accept anything else. There is no greater love than that! John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. The good news is that Jesus didn't stay dead in the grave. He came back to life 3 days later just like He promised and He still lives today! Matthew 28:5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. 6. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. Jesus did all this because He wants to give you the FREE gift of eternal life in heaven with Him! You cannot do anything to earn your own way into heaven. You can't work for it, be baptized for it, go to church for it or try to be good enough for it. It is a FREE gift that God is offering to anyone who will simply receive it by faith. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9. Not of works, lest any man should boast. God said there is only one way to get to heaven, but it is not hard. You must admit you are a sinner headed for hell. You must believe that Jesus died and paid for your sin with His own blood on the cross, was buried and 3 days later rose from the dead. Then you must repent of your sins and call on God for mercy to save you from hell and give you eternal life in heaven with Him. Romans 10:9 that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 13. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. None of us deserve God's mercy and grace, but let me warn you that if you reject His FREE gift, you are already condemned and when you die, you will suffer the torment of burning in hell for eternity in a lake of fire where you will be forever separated from God and all that is loving and good. John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Please don't wait. Don't take the risk of putting it off until another day, repent, turn to Christ NOW wherever you are at because you aren't guaranteed to live another day on this Earth. Believe God's Word, ask Him to save you and He will! ---------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like more information or don't have a church to attend, we livestream our services and would love for you to join us. Entropy. When will we learn that life is only made up by little happy moments and the rest is just static or suffering? When will we understand that bad fortune is what we should expect from life? This feeling is, in part, influenced by social media where society posts the best moments of their lives, which leaves us in a state of guilt and doubt...Am I not doing enough to deserve a better life?! Am I not a good human that I am always struck by bad fortune?! No. Its just how it is. There are a million ways things can go wrong and just a few ways they can go right. Its only a matter of probability.

Or... Bad things; or rather, negative things keep consistently happening to me because I'm being purposely harassed for some unknown reason, to literally drive me insane because there's practically no way to prove it to the authorities/in the eyes of the court for the average man (me), with limited finances. Nor explain it to another without them thinking you're inappropriately self centered and conceded and in need of immediate therapy and or psychiatric care. This is what's really..."maddening". Even if bad/negative things are happening to another, there's no way to actually convince anyone of it. So...wtf?

Its good to try and confront these mindsets sooner rather than later. This kind of mindset running rampant in my life and the negativity it produced have brought things to a very painful point lately and I may have lost the deepest connection I ever had with someone due to the unchecked, self sabotaging problems in my life. While I’m doing what I can to finally try and improve my mindset and habits I’m saying this so that maybe someone else can realize before their life has to turn upside down that you can choose today to start reworking the way you think, to start going to therapy, to start improving on the things you dislike about yourself and your life. At the end of the day we can only change and control ourselves and the way we respond to events and people.

I sometimes wonder if ALL our self hatred and deep seated insecurities can honestly stem from not being loved enough during our childhood. Does anyone else hate themselves and also experienced terrible life events (not the petty examples offered in the video such as waiters dropping butter on you. I am referring to the physical weariness and hopeless despair mental health issues bring or being the victim of a crime as my examples ) I don't feel I hate myself because of the way I was treated as a child. I do not remember how I was treated at ages 2 or 3 but know from the endless photographs I was doted on and loved. I recall growing up my mother did demand a high level of academic success and my father was absent from my life at times. Not from the home but my life. The troubles I recall was at age twelve when my parents were both very stressed and I felt emotionally distant from my father in particular. An old video of a family members birthday displayed his dislike and disdain of me and it upset my mother to watch. I didn't remember him treating me as poorly as that node do I know what I had done to merit it. But I was treated well as a toddler which is when The School of Life seems to believe is the age that determines a persons self esteem in later years. I didn't have an ideal childhood but others had it far worse but they are genuinely kind decent people who consider themselves worthy of respectful treatment , my fiance being one. Does anyone else wonder if the bleak way we view ourselves internally is not caused alone by our treatment in exact years of our childhood? Could he occurrence of more negative life experience as we grow older influence our self perception yet further still? To me it seems obvious that it would. However, I don't want to disrespect the core belief of this channel as I find its content to be both informative and poignant. I even look forward to uploads from this channel, as the dialogue used to convey it's message is often as witty and entertaining as it is perceptive. I just can't help but wonder that more influences our sense of self than two lone years in childhood that most cannot recall. Or am I taking things too literally❓

Childhood is the phase of greatest vulnerability, so it's safe to conclude the most harmful and lasting would be from such. I do however agree the later years, especially the teen age (13-19) that further shapes how we, as individuals, will do in the real world. I found myself out of the dark hole of self destruction only a few years ago with much support, love and most importantly listening.

I wish I knew if there was a name for feelings this way. In my life, as hard I’ve tried to shake the feeling, I have never been able to deny the fact that good luck and bad luck days exist. It’s been like this for years and I have no idea how to combat it. I am aware that luck is most likely not at play, but even so, I feel like once 2-3 things have gone wrong that the whole day is destined to go wrong. This is especially bad when I play tennis because I get in my own head and in turn, become very frustrated by the fact nothing is going right. When it comes to being grateful, I don't know where to draw the line between being in a state of complacency with what you have done and built VS. being grateful for it. I know this may seem like a silly and easy-to-answer response, but in practicality, I find it somewhat difficult to be grateful without being complacent personally.

There is only 1 God. Dear friend, Jesus loves you more than you could ever want to be loved. He understands exactly what you are going through and He can bring you such peace, comfort and joy to your heart like you've never known if you will surrender it ALL to Him. I am sharing my best friend's story with the world in hopes that it will be a help to so many who are struggling. God bless you. Precious Memories-By Sonya Lakey Family Story Little did our family of six know that Friday evening, September 24th, 2021, would be the last night our family would be complete. We laughed together, played games, sang, and enjoyed listening as our 16-year-old son, Ethan, played the piano for us. I packed a lunch for Ethan for a church mountain hike he was going on the following day. My mother (who was visiting from out of state) and I woke early with Ethan on Saturday morning. He hugged me and smiled, never pulling away or rushing me. He got in the car, waved, said he'd see me later and he loved me. It was hard to watch my "new driver" heading out on his own that morning. As Ethan pulled out of the gate, I turned to my mother and said, "It's just so hard letting go." Little did I know how much "letting go" I was really doing. That was the last time I saw Ethan. He did not make it home that evening. That afternoon, a friend tried to contact my husband, leaving an urgent message to call him back. He tried several times to return the call to no avail. As we were preparing supper, an overwhelming feeling of deep concern for Ethan filled my heart. I quietly blinked back tears. I glanced out the window, half expecting to see a police officer pull up to the house, but no one arrived. However, within a few minutes, a patrol car DID pull into the driveway. In my heart, I feared the worst. My husband and I went out to meet the officer, who confirmed our fears. Hesitantly, he told us our son had fallen off of a bluff and had succumbed to his injuries. Our hearts were crushed; they still are. Yet, in all of our brokenness, deep, continual grief and loneliness, our family has such a blessed Hope and assurance that we will see our dear son and brother again. You see, when Ethan was a young boy, he was saved; he put his faith in Jesus alone to forgive his sins and to take him to Heaven when he died. He realized some very important truths from the Bible that he would want to share with you. His Story Everyone is a sinner. Sin is any violation of God’s Law. God is holy, just and righteous, and He cannot allow sin in His presence. Ethan realized that he - like all of us - had sinned; and his sin separated Him from God. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; ” (Romans 3:23) “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” (Romans 5:12) He understood that, because of his sin, he deserved to spend eternity in Hell. “For the wages of sin is death;” (Romans 6:23a) [Wages: price] “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8) Ethan believed that Jesus, God’s Son, paid the price for all sin when He died on the cross - because His sinless sacrifice was the only thing that could satisfy the just demands of a righteous, holy God. Jesus was buried in a borrowed tomb, but He arose the third day, triumphant over sin, death, and Hell. Jesus is alive today! “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9) Ethan was sorry for his sin, repented (turned), and received by faith the free gift that God offered to him. “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13) “...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23b) Because of this great salvation, Ethan lived his life serving Jesus. He worked hard to spread this Good News to the world. He is alive in Heaven with Jesus today; and because of this great HOPE in Christ, we know we will see him again soon - not because he was a great kid, but because of his faith in the great Saviour! “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” (John 10:28) Your Story What about you? What if you had fallen to your death that day - What if you were to die today? Where will you spend eternity - Heaven or the Lake of Fire? There will not be any parties in the Lake of Fire. It is a place of eternal torment for those who reject God's Son. The Word of God is very clear that there is only One Way to Heaven. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6) We did not know that Ethan would step into eternity that day; however, because he put his faith in Jesus alone for his salvation, Ethan was ready to go. Some day - perhaps today - you will take your last breath here on earth, and you will step into eternity. Where you spend eternity is determined by what you do with Jesus Christ. Will you accept Him or reject Him? You are not promised another day or another breath. Eternity begins soon - Are you ready? “...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved…” (Acts 16:31b) “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13) “(...behold, now is the day of salvation.)” (2 Corinthians 6:2c) ****************************** This testimony has been made into a tract form as well, so if you or your church are interested in having them to pass out, please go to libertyfaith.net and you will find the contact info there. God bless! Tribute to Ethan Lakey kzbin.info/www/bejne/e5nSk5aHj5uEmJo

Conversely, it’s also important to keep in mind that just because someone (or even yourself) enjoys a string of good fortune, this does not at all indicate that they are good people worthy of praise and emulation. Just as one can do everything right and fail, so can one do everything wrong and prevail. Luck beats skill every time, and winners never believe in chance.

I wish these were my issues. I was violently raped, causing me to need 3 separate surgeries to recover. My family is dying and being killed, my car was set on fire, and then I lost my job because I had to miss so much work in such a short period of time for my parents and siblings funerals. I don’t intentionally have a victim mentality. However, I do sometimes feel like I’m being cursed.

This is simply being human. How bland and predictable life would be if everything when perfect. We would've liked it initially, but over a period of time, we would've gotten bored with the predictability of life and the utter lack of uncertainty. We wouldn't feel the great sense of accomplishments if there were no set backs, hurdles and failures. We wouldn't be grateful of our blessing if we didn't know what it feels like not to have them. We wouldn't know what a good day is if we never had bad days 💁🏻 May you have a great day and an absolutely amazing week ✨

Every single time I do something, it never happens. Initially it feels like it’s going well, I try hard and put everything in place and yet things never go smooth. I’ve always had a complex since childhood where I fear for “too much good luck” causing too much bad luck afterwards. But no matter how much good or bad luck you get, there’s always bad luck waiting on the other side. Or it never comes down to luck in the first place and I’m just kidding myself. 😂

I've had that silly belief too, for years! The rational part of me knows that _of course_ bad luck will follow good luck --- sooner or later. Think about it: how could it be otherwise? That doesn't mean the bad luck was _caused_ by the good luck! 😀 It's just that it can never be always one or the other. By that same reasoning, you might consider that _there's always _*_good_*_ luck waiting on the other side._ Isn't it logical? People often confuse correlation with causation, _and_ suffer confirmation bias. That's why such things as prophecy and prayer so enchant people. If you wait _long_ enough, the thing that was predicted or prayed for is almost bound to happen. 🙄

I get the whole concept of attracting negative things (or rather noticing/placing meaning behind them), but many of these troubles portrayed are inconveniences. What can one even think when you replace spilt soup with loved ones dying on Christmas, putting a pet down, social groups you once held dear turn you away and ‘other’ you, not being able to say goodbye or even hold a funeral for family and friends who have died in the span of a few months, all while battling severe isolation and the crushing negative mental, physical, social, and emotional effects brought about from this pandemic? It’s one thing when the “bad things” are inconveniences, but how does one even cope when the continuous stream of “bad things” involve very serious and major life changing events? At this point I’m too drained to care about anything, my life included.

School of Life this really hits hard because my father has this personality trait. He is an elderly man and I don't think he would accept therapy even if I suggest it, I think because of his age he believes that the way he is wired cannot change and neither his views. It makes feel stuck, because when he tells me how people are purposely trying to annoy him and there is no such a thing as coincidence, I am stumped everytime, because it doesn't work to convince him even if I try to logically reason it out to him, he still won't accept it. Is there some kind of advice for me how to deal with this?

For me it's not about other people inasmuch as the universe itself that's against me. Anything good in my life is fleeting and bad things must surely follow. I realise now that it's self-loathing caused be a combination of repressed childhood traumas (which is why I don't attribute it to a person, I didn't ever know there was one), neglect, and a repression of my gender identity. But even knowing all this, the belief still runs deep, and is very hard to let go of. And the bigger question is this; how do I go from self-loathing to self-love?

Well maybe because we tend to be more offset by the lows as compared to the highs. For instance, in my case I tend to lose all motivation if something bad happens to me and this dampens whatever good comes my way. And by the time I realize that I should've appreciated it, it's already too late and thus my mood falls further down.

All of these issues are trivial when compared to health issues, losing a wife and children, losing a job, losing a business that had 18yrs of success, losing a home, losing a dad, having a car that died, there’s more, and existing rather than living. Regardless of all of this, there are those that have it even worse. Learn to appreciate any and all the little niceties that may come your way in life.

Don't agree it's self-hatred. It's about the energy you put out. When you focus on negatives, you attract negatives. To say "y'all just hate yourselves" is a pretty blunt generalization. You can fight hard for yourself and still battle negative thoughts. It's not about "Oh, you just gotta love yourself more".

In Islam, hardships occur to a person to give him a chance to pass a "test" and to remind the person that this world is temporary. Although you can live a fullfilling life whatsoever (even if there're hardships, you can still overcome them), this life is still not perfect and that there's a better permanent life (in the hereafter) that you have to prepare for by doing good deeds in this world. Hardships happen to everyone regardless of their belief, righteousness, etc. However, what's different is how each one of them reacts to each hardship. Do you benefit of your hardships and learn from them? Or do you just blame yourself for everything that's happening to you as the video beautifully explained? Love yourself and be aware that hardships come and go and the best you can do is learn from them and remind yourself there's a better life waiting for you

There's a lot of wisdom in what you said, as there are nuggets of wisdom in many -- perhaps most -- religions. That wisdom doesn't have to be _derived_ from religion, though, or from any other supernatural belief. I personally see no evidence for "a better life waiting for [me]," and may therefore appreciate _this_ life more than some religious people do. In any case we agree that hardships happen to everyone, and there's a whole spectrum of _responses_ to it, from unbeneficial to greatly beneficial. I'll keep striving to reach the latter, even though I won't always succeed. Likewise I will do good deeds, not because they increase my chances of joy in some afterlife, but because it seems the most rational and compassionate way to live on a planet with billions of other people and countless other animals, and an important element of making myself happy.

I've been following the School of life for a while now and most videos have some pretty good insight on their subject matter. But this one IMHO falls short by a landslide because it's such an interesting topic to which they've gone ahead and given an extremely simplistic explanation of lack of childhood love (And this is a trend I've been noticing in their videos too). This topic involves such things as science, universal balance, cosmic energies, even astrology if you will so we are not prepared yet to fully understand or comprehend as a species to make convlusions, let alone have it be oversimplified down to the very basic idea that we lacked love as children. It feels like one person's view of the world (which it is, and it shouldn't. It should have more research involved, i feel, considering they're schooling us on life). There are so many people who's luck turns around irrespective of childhood and so many who's luck stays terrible irrespective of great childhoods. Disappointing.

This explains our interpretation of this phenomenon, but not the phenomenon itself: why do bad things keep happening?

Isn’t attributing these behaviours to not getting enough love from others just another form of a victim mentality? I heard once, maybe from this channel, that a deep paranoia of the existential can manifest from being too optimistic about the world. Expecting too much from its indifference. Maybe receiving too much love from others could lead to this and constructing a world in which everything is a conspiracy against you is just a way of shielding yourself from things going wrong. A way of rationalising the arbitrary nature of “bad things”. Just a thought. What do I know.

I like how you elaborate your point even though i can only partially understand to what it is actually means. Let me adopt the words "A deep paranoia of the existential can manifest from being too optimistic about the world. Expecting too much from its indifference." Since that part gave me a thought to process. Thank you for existing and commenting to this video i stumbled upon. Your words helped me a lot.

While I find this video insightful and useful, I think it missed the fact that the people described in this video often act in a way that invites more bad things to happen to them. Let's say you think the waiter is out to get you because he spilt sauce on your pants. This will make you react more viciously than normal. This will piss off the waiter, who will bad mouth you to the cook, who will make sure to burn your steak. I understand it's helpful to reassure the people described in this video (I include myself in this group) that there is no conspiracy against us, but I also think it's important to point out that sometimes, we are also responsible for the bad things that happen to us. As they say, if you met an asshole today, you've met an asshole. If you've been meeting assholes all day, you're the asshole.

I found a bug in my salad once. When I squished it, the bug gave off the most foul odor. Needless to say, I didn't finish eating the salad and never ordered one from that restaurant again. Sometimes you have to laugh at the absurd events that happen in our lives. The most recent example is when the zipper on my newest pair of trousers broke, leaving the fly open. On the plus side, I went home early. Every cloud has a silver lining!
