I mean 700 bucks isn't bad, I wouldn't buy one if I was looking that had rust, soo if you can afford it I'd say fix it but if you'd rather not then leave it but it will get worse

Check behind you jack points too! Mine rusted from the inside out in that spot.

Mine is rusting in the wheel arches and the one rocker is rotting away now, I'll fix it when I can but it still runs soo that's what's really important

Also my car being Torred and not being parked indoors in its 16 years lifespan, the clear coat is peeling off as well now in the arches going over the doors

Hi nice greetings from Bavaria, germany! :) Nice informations, because i restore cars, like a 67 Chevy Caprice/Impala 4 Door Hardtop where i really really learned to rebuild whole wheel arches at front fenders with new hand shaped sheet metal and many many more. And now i´ve a 06 Charger R/T Daytona, Top Banana what was at 1st a Wyoming car, then a NC car. And it looks completely rust free. (I´m glad that it is still rust free & i´ll do all that it would be stay in rust free condition. And in my eyes it´s allways allways allways, importand that a car would get wax into the rocker panels, into all the holes like you see at the particular area you show; what are closed with these rubber .. (don´t know the right word in english still in the moment, sorry! ) And all 2-3 years it´s good to prevent rust if you´ll put underbody wax into these areas. But what i didn´t knew was that Dodge did foamed the area arround the rear wheel arches, is this at every Charger of the LX Generation, or...? When you ask me about th rust spot you should not cut that out yet, you could buy a cheap sandblaster for a air compressor for home work. These are very cheap and then blast away the rust at this particular spot (not the whole car or the whole wheel arch, only the spot itself and a little bit arround the rust spot...) then use a rust primer, and a primer befor painting. it´s better to do this now and nut if it´s going to be a rust hole. Then you must weld. But still in this moment you´ve a good choice to stop the rust. And after you´ve done that and the spot is painted, you should use body way or even underbody wax (don´t know how it´s called right in english, but it should be WAX what is specific for the inner parts for an car body :)) The chances are good that you can prevent it for more rust, when you´ll do this. The foam in the rear wheel arches; do you can find out what is it for an foam??? It was very interesting and you´ve better choices to find that out easily, because english is your 1st language & you can go to dodge or write dodge with pictures about the foam and ask them what it is, why they did this and what they´ll say about the material, if this will suck up wather or even moisture. Because there is also the possibility that it can´t suck up moisture. An the rust problem could come from stones what brushes the paint & even also corrosion protective undercoating away. It´s even the powered axle where you´re finding this, so there is even the possibility of micro penetrations of the paint from stones. I think it´s even also clear for understanding that it was never good to make burn outs on stony roads where the possibility of this case will come up--> that´s even tha same what i think when i see guys doing burnouts and drifts on stony roads & ways; "Oh my god, your car must rust in the next years"... :) lt me know what you think about and what you found out, i´m very interested! :) If you like to see my Charger, take a look at HEMI-spherical, a shiny yellow Top Banana :) Cheers Till

I had one and it was my first car and had to lose her due to the same problem 😢 it was so bad that I couldn't even jack my car up the jack went through the undercarriage

I have a 2008 Dodge Charger with the same location rust problem on both sides, was thinking about grinding out the rust and filling in with body putty since I do not want to spend a lot of money on the car because it’s not a R/T. I realize using body putty is really a frowned upon repair but it’s cheap.

Yup that’s kind of where I’m at. Not sure if I want to fix it because I’m just going to daily drive it through winter for the upcoming years. Not a show car I’m keeping nice in the garage, but I do want to keep it clean, so I can’t really decide lol.

Body filler is porous. it will absorb water and rust faster. Body filler must be completely covered. Great for small dents not so great for rust holes

i have a 2009 old police model and live in massachusetts the bottom is pretty much completely rusted out and idk how much time it has or what to do lol

I have been shopping for that generation, it will be my next RT probably. From what I've seen, they hold up 10x against rust and arent as prone to it, but its still a Dodge so it isn't great against winters and salt.

Just seen a 2017 today that was rusting out around the trunk lid.

Hell yes. I think it's a dodge problem. The cars, pickup trucks, suvs, and large passenger vans all have that same problem.

The rust does suck. I have a rt 2009 charger had it for i would say roughly 12 years 2nd owner bought it at 20k miles so basically new but I live in Michigan and the rear quarter rust is so lame has 121k miles on it and other than the rust the car is clean as a whistle. I got quoted for $1800 a side to replace the quarter panels with a 5 year warranty.

When you see it it's too late. Check underneath just infront of the rear wheels. It's probably rotten through like every other LX car I've seen in salty environments

I’m near Chicago Illinois, the undercarriage of 90% of my cars have been horrid lol. Luckily this charger isn’t too bad under, but it has the rust forming near the wheel

undercoating will not help when factory foam is involved.
