Not to mention, many old gothic bands had religious themes. I think people forget that in the 80/ -90s it wasn’t popular to be a demon worshipper, I mean themes like, “personal jesus”, “tainted love”, etc… Had themes of people who you can tell held religion to value but had trouble finding a space in it. 🤷♀️ I know my mom used to dress similar, more metal-like, and was catholic her whole life. @@thinkaboutit2137 It's a slightly different spiritual take, very slightly. Half of Christianity is Pagan text recycled along with all holidays and rituals. You think the church dancing around a decorated tree or smudging everything with sage and holy water was their original idea? Of course not. The "witch act" is picking up the sage and holy water to do your own cleansing instead of waiting around for some over paid preist do it for you. Of course the church isn't going to like losing money but there is no rule biblically saying not to do for yourself, in fact it's encouraged and expected. Now let's compare the cross to the pentagram, because unfortunately they are the same. Jesus historically was placed on the X shaped cross, the t shape is more for the metaphoric representation of the holy trinity and the top point being father God as king of all. The pentagram is the same just with all of god's kingdom added in as being under his rule. If either symbol is turned upside down it represents evil overthrowing god. If people want to wear a cross or a pentagram, they're worshiping the same Abrahamic God along side Islam and Judaism. Sorry to say, but you're all going to the same afterlife. Jesus went around tearing down churches because he wanted to end the petty religious wars. To live like Jesus is to denounce the monetization of worship and treat every life as your own. You'll understand 200 years from now I promise.

If anything, it creates opportunities for Christians to strike up a conversation with otherwise unreachable or people with misconceptions about Christianity. Rosaries and Catholicism are irrelevant heresies and not at all related to Christianity, and therefore not really edgy but a different statement than they realize. 🤷♀️ Somehow people just seem to know when something isn't right. Something about unbiblical forced abstinence resulting in pedophilic priests. I guess that's what happens when you put men in God's position of high priest when he said we have our high priest in Christ Jesus himself. For the law appoints as high priests men in all their weakness; but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever. Hebrews 7:28 NIV

I wear rosaries bc of culture and symbolism honestly. I'm a goth, an atheist one, grew up in the craziest religious household. Things were so bad at home that even as an adult whenever i heard somebody coming at me with the converting talk I'd unknowingly get extremely sad. Me now, using religious stuff and even jokingly throwing around religious phrases is me conquering my severe traumas and accepting that they're a part of me that can no longer oppress me :3

Lol, same 🖤🖤 I've been wanting to start dressing more goth/punk. I had a friend in high school introduced me to punk and goth, and I have felt so much better dressing like this. The only reason I haven't lately is because I'm catholic and a lot of people where I live are extremely conservative and just aggressively rude about it. I feel incredibly grateful that my mum is really nice about all this stuff even though she's catholic and far from alternative. Lol. She even taught me how to make rosaries, and my grandmother made and taught them.✝️🖤📿🖤✝️

I saw a wife swap episode were a conservative Christian switched places with a rock goth lady. The conservative was acting all afraid and shocked. They had a barbecue to welcome the conservative and had all their friends and family come over and the woman was scared for her life. Then the swapped husband calls all these pierced and tattooed people wearing their black revealing ripped clothes together, and they prayed before eating and prayed to welcome the new member of their family. That women was shocked like many people are because for some reason people who dress a certain way must be devil worshipping heathens, and not people with a different fashion sense.

He dropped the knife and I let him go with a promise to never touch my hair again. My ex said he didn't know I could move that fast, well neither did I. I definitely can't anymore.
