At $400.00 the Razer phone is a better phone. It has Better speakers (not decent, but very good) and a 120hz display, which was mentioned in the review as one of the best. If you are in the market for a gaming phone the R2 is your best bet. The recommendation to pass on this phone from a reviewer who doesn't play games is a moot point. It's a gaming phone. If you play games on your mobile get the Razer, if not, the OP6 is a good option.

Now I can understand the point TechFocus is making about design but remember, 1. The Razer Phone 2 is capable of installing GCam 5.14 to Possibly the latest model so its camera can be fixed with a 2-minute installation. 2. The building design was meant to focus on more gaming/comfort, I can see this as a great way to watch videos on your phone. 3. To increase the "Snappiness" of the phone just lower it down to 60hz or 90hz, may seem low but hey a 1440p display at 90Hz LCD is still better than the iPhone 11 720p 60Hz LCD

I received my Razer phone 2 two days ago, all I can say is that it's one sweet phone, it's fast, has great speakers "actually FANTASTIC speakers", great LCD screen, smooth and fast "60hz/90hz and 120hz option" with great color accuracy "no overstated OLED colors, I used to own plenty of Samsung phones", you do have three color options with the Razer 2 which are natural/vivid/boosted, I stay with the natural color option, the battery life is great as is the cellular reception "I am on Verizon/US". I could not be happier with this phone.

Yeah I can't really get behind this review at all. It's a fantastic phone for the price. I got mine about a week ago, and a few tweaks fix the gripes that are made. Unlock the bootloader and Root it first off, and as far as the camera get a google camera APK and swap out the apps. Noticeable better, and that's coming from someone who had a Pixel 3. The battery life is eh, it definitely could be better imo. My Pixel lasted forever, whereas I noticed the Razer Phone definitely doesn't last as much. My favorite thing though is the screen, absolutely the most fluid phone screen I've seen and used. Never once experienced any of those "Glitches" that was mentioned. Then again, I had the gesture based system. I swapped back to the traditional 3 buttons myself (so maybe that's why) All in all, swap the camera app and maybe use the 3 button setup. Makes this a killer phone for $350-400.

6T you say... okay, let's see. 1. The worst fingerprint scanner on the planet is on the OnePlus 6T. 2. 60 Hz Full HD OLED vs 120 Hz QHD IGZO LCD, sorry but on this one i would take LCD everytime. 3. Gaming performance is very similar, given the same spec. but not all is same, Razer focused more not in peak performance, but in sustainable performance, that means the throttling isn't that much issue here and also it delivers in longer gaming sessions. 4. Speaker are way ahead of the 6T. 5. Razer s IP67 water and dust resistant, OnePlus 6T isn't. 6. Battery life on Razer Phone is quite good and if you aren't satisfied you could always opt to 60/90 Hz refresh rate and drastically improve battery life. What is better one OnePlus 6T is support, yeah software support from Razer isn't even near the 6T. So it all comes down to one thing, how much you wan't worse product, but in modern package with better support, or better product, with "traditional" package (meaning normal 16:9 aspect ratio and normal bezels) with worse software support. The answer isn't easy, but given how bat 6T fingerprint scanner (what the fuck OnePlus did there) i would choose Razer. It all comes down to personal preference. But saying that OnePlus 6T is a better product seems more like an opinion, than a true fact.

I actually have to say the OnePlus 6t fingerprint scanner is not bad at all, it's pretty reliable and fast. It doesn't scan properly 1/20 times but I'm happy with the phone. OLED is superior to LCD but you can't argue with the high refresh rate, that's why I'm interested in razer and Rog phones at the moment

The thumb reader was awkward at first, but it seems to be in a natural position for your thumb... Compared to the note8 reader: the Note would work once for every time the Razer would work 3 times, so 1:3 accuracy note8 vs Razer2.

For heat you want to enable developer settings and change the thermal profile to performance. Also consider delveing into game booster you can change the CPU usage for each game so you can lower it if you don't need the full 2.8ghz also consider less processing for 60 fps games, force the phone to use the same framerate you can do this for each game. @@CallMeFil not biased at all, I switched from iPhone. The speakers are so good, very loud and clear ( I did a test vs the iPhone xr and the speakers on this are so much better ). The Hertz on this phone is insane, and the color. My dad has an iPhone x and the color on this is so much more accurate its not even hard to tell. And the battery life is insane for the amount of time it takes to charge. It takes like 1.5 hours to fully charge from dead and lasts like 8 hours or more. Also it has different modes on it so it can be on performance or battery saver. Overall this phone is insane.

I have this phone and is pretty good, the speakers are load and clear, the camera software is bad, so, better download Google camera which improve the camera a lot! The 120Hz screen is something else, but for the eyes 90Hz is enough, you can barely see the difference, overall I love this phone, good performance, the battery last depending of the settings you use (rgb, screen refreshing) I use it at 90Hz with the logo on while using the phone and the battery last all day, but if you play a lot with it is not going to last more than 6 hours.

idk why everyone hates the screen to body ratio and the blocky design, i personally think that the design is actually pretty good looking and while the screen to body ratio is bad, the screen is still really big and the bezzles (that's how you spell it, right?) are there for the speakers that are louder than any other phone speakers I've heard

Honestly the aspect ratio people like him crave are bad for most media. Alot of the time there'll be black bars on the sides or you'd have to zoom in. Which at the same time will cut whatever you're looking at. If not it'll just outright stretch/distort the content as it wasn't mean to be viewed that way. I actually bought a phone recently to just store/manage back up data and it has the weird aspect ratio he likes/prefers. And with most new phones having notches/curved screens (both suck) the problems are even worse. As I actually see less now

I bought this phone back in June and it worked fine, battery lasted all day and night, I could play games for hours and use it for work without issues besides the fact that the speakers already had a rattle noise when I turned it up around 75%. Now it glitches everyday, battery dies quick and now I can't use the Chroma lights like before and have to use only 60hz. Lately I've been having to restart it just to get it to work. Anyone else have problems with theirs after just some months?

I really wanted to buy one of the other gaming phones out there. But I settled on the Razer 2 Phone because it has MicroSD support. None of the other gaming phones had MicroSD support. None of them! How absurd is that? Gaming automatically assumes that you are going to have big downloads. Not to mention high-end emulation. I've had the Razer 2 Phone since the summer. I love the excellent speakers. The screen is great too. Battery life easily lasts all day. The camera became great when I installed Google's camera app. I have no complaints about the phone. In fact, now that Razer released their new game controller, Junglecat, yesterday, I'm going to love my Razer Phone 2 even more. It was the only thing missing from the phone. A nice portable controller that fits well with my Razer Phone 2. I have absolutely no regrets -- especially for the price I paid over the summer.

You completely missed several points of the phone. Most glaring mistake are with the bezels. They physically can’t be smaller than they already are. The speakers are as tall as the grill and you cant shrink them.

if you use android 9, to edit your notification menu (swipe from the top) get the app called Power Shade. it's 3$, and does everything you want, the color you want, the amount of rows, and items. it's pretty sick. Also, i LOVE my razer phone 2. Best phone i ever had.

I bought this phone for $345 in amazon and I really have no complains in general. I previously own a razer phone 1... but I felt I did not upgrade to razer phone 2 because of its looks... but in gaming performance and in LTE speed as well as stability with Wifi connectivity... Razer phone 2 solves my issues with Razer phone 1. If this phone is priced aboved $600... I would definitely choose a different phone considering my experience with razer phone 1. Having that $345 price I took a gamble and I am now a happy owner of razer phone 2. Sold my razer phone 1 for almost $300 and bought razer phone 2 for $345 is not bad. If razer phone 3 comes out... No I dont sell in ebay.. sold it on my area.. i bought my rp2 brandnew from razer account in amazon during black friday... luckily I never had a problem still. My phone got wet accidentally and it dod not have issues.. Took the risk buying from amazon since buying on their site sucks.. i know returning the item if it got problems would be PITA considering.. i bought it not from a physical store and it is just too far to send the item if it god some problems. Razer phones or even ROG phones are rarely sold on my city :( forcing me to buy online

After owning it for a while it reminds me so much of my galaxy S5, it's always over heating and, the charging port stops working properly. The speakers dent so easy and, can't get it to mirror via HDMI to the TV anymore.

I don't know what I expected from phone reviews to be honest. I guess with such a saturated market focused on yearly releases, you kind of have to be ultra pedantic with your every criticism and praise. I might just binge some phone reviews now because its kinda fascinating seeing the things people will have to point out as pros or cons. Regardless, I found this review really neat! I got my Razer 2 a couple weeks ago and am lovin it, but you have a really wonderful format and energy, defo gonna look out for more of your stuff

the razor 2 is a great device however it is still being sold for $800. its only $400 because of it being on sale. hell the rog phone 2 is $900 and has the best specs an android device has at the moment and that device is made for gaming. if the razor 2 went back to $800 after sale people are gonna choose the rog phone 2 and black friday is coming so it might go on sale. of course i wouldnt take it outside cause if its raining and you get water in the vent your basically risking having a $900 paperweight because it has no water protection but if you use it primarily for gaming and emulation then why not keep it home since you can also get the dock and controller like the switch has. there are better options out there tho. i just bought the xiaomi mi 9 for $400 and im happy with my purchase. everything runs smooth no slowdowns anywhere (have not updated to latest miui version yet and dont think i will till i find that bugs are fixed). gaming and console emulation runs great as well. if they ever make a razor 3 tho then maybe ill buy it if it has the same specs as the rog 2 or better but for now ill stick to my mi 9

you can change the color you need to go-to themes for razer also, the sound of this phone is amazing I don't even use earbuds that much anymore (you didn't mention) I am scared about your review thier are only 2 phones that have a 120 refresh rate display One+ only have 90 For the camera, you just download a g-cam (google pixel camera ) the hardware is good but the software is ok I am even more scared since you didn't talk about the specialized gaming software on this phone This might seem mean or annoying, but If it was an apple thousands of people would try to protect thier phone. (yes I did buy this phone)

i agree, the hardware is great, but the software is what killed it. I just bought the razer phone 2 and used it for a day, but so many software glitches. the touchscreen has problem when i'm using it while charged, the android security patch is updated only until September (it's now December). So I agree, I'm going to return the phone. It's too much to compromise, but the form factor, the 120hz refresh rate, and the coolness of the RGB logo in the back are just so awesome. I also love how wide the phone is, it feels great on the hand. But it's too bad, even at a discount, I think I couldn't handle so many compromises, really poor battery life (100% -> 25% with 2.75hrs screen on time), touchscreen glitch when charging, can't use my wireless charger, just too many problems. I've just placed an order on the Note 10+. I'm a HUGE Razer fan. I hope Razer will continue to improve on their phones with their next phone.

You're crazy dude, the Razer phone 2 is beast. If basic cosmetic designs are your problems then stick to mainstream apple phones. Not every phone is meant to be the same. I bought this phone for gaming, not taking pictures. So far after 6 months of using heavily, it has exceeded my expectations. COD mobile runs smooth like butter. This phone is so nice, I bought another! You can't go wrong with 2 flagship cellphones for $400 each.

I'm selling my s10 plus to get one of these. The s10 was gimped in my region with a bad cpu, and once the novelty of the display wore off, I realized its not very nice to use. I miss my old first gen razer phone, which was much more practical.

Where does this guy get his info? OnePlus 6 beats Razer phone 2 in gaming performance? Sorry bud but you're totally wrong about that. Clearly you didn't put too much into this review. Not being able to figure out a way to change the notification panel's colors shows that in itself. The damn phone has its own theme store with a ton of themes on it that will do just that. How hard was that to find? I suggest you do some more homework my friend. Not many phones can even come close to this phone in performance. And btw you mentioned the phone heating up but not the part that matters at all which is the massive heat pipe that evenly disttibutes that heat instead of it being focused on the cpu alone. Yeah that thing that almost no other phone seems to be able to do which causes that iPhone screen to dim on you out of nowhere or even worse can cause the phone to completely shut down. Razer phone on the other hand doesn't suffer from throttling one bit. This is a gaming phone so do us gamers some Justice and deliver a proper review would ya? Cheers
