The body language is fascinating. At 2:33, after he has asked her why she likes him, she crosses her arms. This is often considered a sign of defensiveness, of closing one's self off. But then, she asks him pointedly why he is asking, walks over to him and enters his personal space (i.e., she is, by general social standards, too close--close enough to make the other person uncomfortable), and ... she uncrosses her arms, placing them on her hips in a way that leaves her front VERY open, very exposed and vulnerable. And then she just stands there staring at him--until he walks away in silence.

If I was to try to be a better person, I’d try to be a bit more like Cameron. They wrote her to be a pathological fixer after this. She needed to not try to change him and just let her love win him over. They were like yin and yang. She just needed to be the one to take that first step and kiss him when he froze and couldn't look at her when she had his number when she says he doesnt do what he does to help people but rather because it's the right thing to do. She understood him fundamentally and also should have understood why he couldn't selfishly tell her he liked her too. It was a decision she needed to make on her own to love him without asking his permission or validation. If she was serious it would have been a great relationship but she had to be the one willing to take a leap of faith that he really was as good at heart as she thought.
@manthacake78819 ай бұрын
@@ethosterros9430 This is on point. Cameron was written early on to be complimentary to House, someone who could soften his edges. For whatever reason, they dropped that subplot and the writers completely changed her character because they didn't know what else to do with her. @@manthacake7881 Apparently, the writers intended for House and Cameron's relationship to go deeper, but there were some claims that it didn't happen because one or both of them was uncomfortable with it. Something about the age gap. It's actually sad because had it happened, we would probably still see the "I can fix him" plot point but it would get redeemed or explored like House MD usually does with narratives. I'm still salty about the fact that they did nothing with Cameron. As a matter of fact, I'm salty that all the characters besides Wilson were a plot device rather than characters that could develop into meaningful parts of House's life. Although I was always Team "Season 1-3 Cameron", I was beginning to warm up to Cuddy and that ended up getting shot down too. I get why it had to happen since that's just life for emotionally broken people, but I really wanted to see House win after all these seasons, even if life continues to be miserable.

@@sas_za6305 Or possibly House thought that he was never going to change and he would only bring her down trying to help him. He felt hopeless and instead concedes to the pain that has become his life. It's almost become a part of his identity and even the slight possibility of change off put him, even if its for the better.

"You do it because it's right" ~And that is why Cameron and House never would have worked. She believes that right and wrong are objective things that people choose between. Right now she thinks House is right, and she'll put up with a lot of 'wrong' choices because she believes in him overall. But you can't have a lasting relationship based on just excusing a significant chunk of someone's personality. Especially not with House -- he'd call her out for lying to herself immediately.

That scene where he looks away and freezes up was heart breaking. All she had to do in that moment was hug him and kiss him and set the ball rolling letting him know he was safe with her. Thats what love would have done but she wanted a project to fix and change. Cuz her wanting to sate the fixer fetish is her wanting to feed her ego by draining his. Her writing fell off a cliff after this scene but i really thought they belonged together but she had to be the faith to his knowledge. His relationship with cuddy took off and was fueled by her faith in him and it instantly crumbled when that faith was replaced with judgement. The irony is even in his rebellion against god, he could only be loved correctly by someone who had a healthy relationship with god.

Anomalies tick him. He is insecure and so he figured he wasn't good enough to be loved by another person so he tries to understand why Cameron likes him. He wants to conclude that her emotions are real. But superficially he is making her believe it's just a pathological curiosity. Beautifully written character!
