Beware of some dental hygienists. Some are butchers. One worked my teeth over 8 months ago. And they still hurt. Someone from her office had the audacity to call me to schedule another appointment. When I told the caller no never again and why I said no, never again, she didn't even seem surprised or even apologetic.

The pain depends on how bad your teeth are stained...for me,I had cavities on one side of my mouth and didn't chew with that side at all and my teeth got plagued They used this scarper kinda tool with water coming out of it(high pressure) and it did feel uncomfortable when they were cleaning insides of my front teeth Conclusion : cost was below ₹1000 It hurts when they touch the gum line Gums will bleed (they told me it's normal and not to freak out) IT IS uncomfortable

Great question! You would be surprised how much of surface teeth staining can be removed with a good teeth cleaning. There are many factors to consider including source and degree of staining. For example, staining from medication won't likely be removed with a teeth cleaning, but surface level coffee staining could be removed.
