It would have been nice if we were taught this stuff thoroughly when we were children so we could avoid dental issues. Also warning people that smoking causes issues with receding gums/gum and tooth problems because it reduces circulation

What are your thought on xylitol to help your clean and maintain oral teeth health?
@EzekielsCall11 ай бұрын
One of the best things besides good teeth cleaning/hygeine to protect your teeth is if you smoke, STOP SMOKING. Smoking causes circulation issues and contributes to a lot of deterioration of the gums, and very well may contribute to poor overall oral health.

Electric toothbrushes add the most benefit by encouraging the user to spend a full 2 or 3 minutes brushing. You could save $$$ by simply setting a timer and adhering to it.
@andreah63797 ай бұрын
They have their own timer.
@safetyfirst31326 ай бұрын
Umm, that was my point. The timer in an electric toothbrush runs for 2 or 3 minutes, depending on the setting and/or model you choose. And some models are more than $100. A baking timer is less than $2. Just use a regular toothbrush for 2 or 3 minutes and save a fortune in ridiculously overpriced crap you don't need. AND the electricity needed to operate it. I had a Philips Sonicare for years and the replacement heads are expensive. I ditched it 2 years ago and my dentist hasn't even noticed. So I'm suggesting people save their money, buy regular manual toothbrushes, and simply spend 2 or 3 minutes brushing. @@andreah6379

Electric is perfectly safe to use! It uses vibration of the water, much better for you than manual. There is no comparison. I always have dentists telling me how superior electric brushing is for our dental hygiene. No need to worry.

Hello, Isn’t fluoride poison? Tfs
@safetyfirst3132 Жыл бұрын
I was getting a very painful condition on my tongue that took me years to figure out, and it was a reaction to fluoride. It got worse after dental visits and using sensitivity toothpaste, as well as drinking a lot of hot teas. I had no idea that hot tea was a source of fluoride! My tongue was so sensitive and painful that I couldn’t eat. No single medical or dental professional ever suggested that I could have a fluoride sensitivity. I’m happy to say that I have switched to Hello fluoride free toothpaste for the last couple of years and my tongue is back to normal and I’m getting better checkups every time at the dentist. I don’t want the lecture so I’m not even telling the dentist. I still drink tea and therefore get a small amount of fluoride that way, but I’m not overdosing on it like before. Btw, I’m nearly 50, and only have 4 rear teeth with fillings, never had a crown, root canal, or any other serious dental work besides gum trouble from being a lifelong smoker. But fluoride has nothing to do with that. ALSO, the tooth sensitivity has DISAPPEARED since I stopped using “sensitivity” toothpaste (high fluoride toothpaste). So I have no idea what that’s all about 🤷♀️

OMG! I have been in agony for the last two years because of my mouth! I have open sores, ulcers, and it hurts like hell. I've seen multiple dentists, oral surgeons, oral pathologist's. All have NO CLUE! I've also been seen by a professor from the State University Dental School. All of them don't know. A year ago I was diagnosed with an Autoimmune Disease and am on a lung transplant list now. OMG.... I'm going to see if it's maybe a fluoride sensitivity. If you or anyone else have any ideas, please let me know. I'll shave my head if it cures it!!!

@@kathrynmalekoffo sorry to hear about all your medical troubles. I’m sure your autoimmune issue could be playing a role in your mouth sores but also wanted to mention a lot of ppl, myself included, have a sensitivity to a common ingredient in most toothpaste called SLS. It basically gives me a whole mouth burning feeling, especially on my tongue and lips, and it can lasts for days. I now use fluoride-free and SLS free toothpaste with hydroxyapatite for remineralization.
@kathrynmalekoff Жыл бұрын
@@sublimesamoyed Thank you so much for your support in this. I'm not sure what SLS is. I also had about 10 months later a Burning feeling in the whole mouth. Again professionals had no clue. I continued to look for answers in my medical books and online. What I came up with was a thing called Burning Mouth Syndrome. It is very rare and only affects perimenopausal and menopausal women approximately 1-2% . Of course I was one. Again dental professionals had no clue what I was saying. I found a Dr who listened to me and said he only had one pt during his residency and he stated that it couldn't have been that because it's so rare. I then said to humor me and what would you prescribe for for a diabetic with leg neuropathy. He said Lyrica. Great!!! Give me a script for it and we'll see what happens. Two months later the pain was GONE!! I was elated to say the least. Now, I have to figure out the sores. I'm not going to stop until I get an answer.

Took me a long time to find a toothpaste without artificial sweeteners, which trigger migraines for me, but then those toothpastes had no fluoride. Finally found one recently that don't have sweeteners, but does have fluoride. Was quite a challenge for awhile.

fluorosis is a real issue! lot of REAL dentists now check your sources of fluoride and end up lot now a days need to prescribe fluoride free because its getting everywhere and getting more and more sources of it. even some bottle water co. have high levels so sometimes got to check sources and amounts. this "dentist" dont want to say that though. a large amount of REAL dentists now have to deal with to much of it on diet and lifestyle now a days its becoming a major issue. one place has illnesses extremely for contaminated ground. got to check sources and amounts for you personally before you throw fluoride at your teeth. even checking water bottle co water reports for levels and what's in them. know what your doing before know what toothpaste you need. also remember labs have tested tea's. cheap teas are the highest source of it. i cant believe this whoever would not say this important thing about fluoride. and can screw up your teeth in childhood to mess them up in adulthood. plus adults CAN still get them messed up, doctors dentists and labs point that out as well so. real dentist and who cares actually would have informed of all this.
