I am a "Russian Israeli" myself and agree with all of your points. I follow the politics of both countries. One important distinction that I want to make though, is that Netanyahu does it by winning fair elections in a highly competitive political system while dealing with very negative press in Israel. He promotes free markets and a smaller state. He opens relations with many nations while staying really tough on few selected enemies. Putin used his power to create an authoritarian regime with a kleptocratic economy and a huge state mechanism. His geopolitical moves are smart and well executed especially compared to western blunders, but not always wise in the long run. They have a good personal relationship because of the personal similarities and their real political attitude but also even culturally, Bibi's grandparents were born in Russia, Putin has lifelong Jewish friends and the population of both countries share a similar view on Russian role in WW2 which is an important historical nerrative for both people.

The title of this video is misleading. There is no love between the two. As with so much in geopolitics, there is a certain nexus of interests and a sub surface distrust. Moreover many of the roots of the Arab Israeli conflict and more particularly, the current situation of the Jordanian Arabs that refer to themselves as Palestinians can be traced back to the cold war rivalry between the US and the USSR.
