Have you always wondered why the bowl gets so hot? ME TOO. In this episode, I try to answer that question. Will I actually learn anything? I'm not sure honestly. But we're gonna try!

I believe you're not supposed to leave your microwave running empty. Maybe the fact that it was pretty much empty is related to why your microwave broke.

Yeah I figured that after thinking about it XD. Who would have thought a few spoonfuls of mac and cheese are the difference between a broken and a working microwave lol

You can also explode certain glass and stoneware if they over heat, Chapman's pretty quick when running empty.

There is something else going on with some bowls though. I just melted some butter in a ceramic bowl and it damned near cooked my finger in the half a second I touched it. Black spiderweb patterns had formed on top and it was hot like a stove-top after 2 x 30 sec.

Also a fun microwave experiment is to remove the rotating plate and put a plate of nachos in there. The microwave will heat up only certain spots of the cheese and you’ll be able to calculate the wavelength of the microwave!!

All that reflected energy back into the Magnetron! I think you did microwave your microwave. BTW You still need to make one more test by dumping a bowl of food into the microwave WITHOUT a container, I will stay tuned :D

But... What if you put a microwave IN a microwave?! Also I wonder what role the water vapor might play. So i think you need desiccant in a microwave in a microwave in a vacuum? Yeah, that sounds like science
