I've seen the blessings of paying tithing in my life and that of my parents. So many times have we wondered are we going to make it with things to the end of the month and is some how does, despite what happens. There are so many other blessing that happen too. To me it isn't a case of oh no I have to pay tithing. I pay it first and then worry about the rest of the things I have to pay for and it always works out. Pay it last and oh man, then nothing works out.

They all have the same living stipend whether a Prophet or First Quorum of the Seventy. The Average salary for presidents and board of director for charities is over a million. The President of the Red Cross makes over 5 mill. You need to compare Apples to Apples not bicycle tires. Every current member of the 12 was earning in excess of 500K before accepting the call. The aim of these videos targets those who use the term “Mormon.” It’s great members of the Church watch these videos too, but because the intended audience is searching using the keyword “Mormon,” and we would like them to be able to find videos like this to answer their questions, it’s not helpful to use terms they don’t use. We do however make sure to use the name of the church in the video itself.

@@supermolo100 it's because the name Mormon implies it is the church of Mormon, and we worship the person Mormon, which is not the case, we pray to God and believe in Jesus, and believe this is a true church of Jesus, the most accurate one to the church in the New testament, and so we wish for the church to be called by it's true name, the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day saints. Hope this clears it up a bit :)

There are 2 teachings of tithing in the church-the one in the doctrine and covenants which Joseph Smith taught, and the one that Brigham Young said Joseph taught. Joseph taught that tithes were to be paid on our excess. So pay your bills and take care your needs first, and then if anything is leftover, pay 10% tithing on that. After Joseph died, Brigham Young introduced a revelation on tithing that he claimed was actually received by Joseph but just never published, and THAT revelation said that we should pay 10% on all our income and that this was to be the law of tithing in the church forever. So we have 2 men who claimed to be prophets presenting 2 different teachings on tithing. And also a claim that Joseph actually received 2 different and conflicting revelations on tithing. But something is wrong there, bc God says in d&c 2 that He does not contradict Himself or vary from that which He hath said. I can't remember the references for these off the top of my head but there is a section on tithing in the d&c and the Brigham-Young-said-Joseph-said revelation was quoted by Elder Anderson in this last general conference. The New Testament however teaches (1 Cor 9) that God wants us to give to the poor generously of our own choosing and not by compulsory means. Tithing appears to be an old law from the law of Moses, and 1 Cor seems to be the teaching the new-law concept of giving. The church teaches that the old law was fulfilled in Christ. So "a restoration of all things" should not restore old principles from old laws that Christ has done away with but only things from the law He said we are to now live.

There's no such thing as a biblical tithe that was collected as money from earned wages. Biblical tithes were taxes that were facilitated through ceremonial and civil ordinances under Mosaic Law that are now obsolete.

@RyanMercer

Think of it this way: when you're learning to drive, there are a lot of rules you have to follow - stop at red lights, give way at stop signs, don't speed, signal before you turn, and so on. These aren't optional; if you want to have the privilege of driving, you have to follow all the rules. If you choose not to obey, say, the speed limits, then you could lose your driving privileges. Similarly, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has spiritual laws that we believe are set by God. Among them is the law of tithing. Paying tithing isn't just about money; it's a tangible way of showing obedience to God and commitment to His teachings. If we choose not to follow this law, we are in essence not fulfilling all the 'rules of the road' for our spiritual journey. So while it might seem like access to the temple is 'paylocked', it's really about the willingness to embrace and obey all of God's instructions. Just like with driving, if we want the privilege of fully participating in the blessings of the temple, we have to abide by all the rules, including tithing.

Yes, it's obviously still voluntary, just as obedience to any other commandment is voluntary. Worthiness has always been tied to adherece to commandments. You implied it's a paywall, but it would more correctly be viewed as an obedience wall, because it's only one of a number of requirements for full participation

I heard of somebody saying he was disgusted with how much money the church makes but they don't know where the money goes to. when there is a change in the priesthood, there is necessarily a change in the law as well Hebrews 7:12 . a commandment in the law to take tithes Hebrews 7:5 . a former commandment is set aside because of its weakness and uselessness (for the law made nothing perfect); Hebrews 7:22 . the old wineskin requires the tithe. "churches" that require or encourage the tithe are an old wineskin. these "churches" cannot hold the new wine of the new covenant . these churches have skrunk back to the law

As the Almighty Creator commanded all of His prophets that 10% of our net income or "Tithing" or "Cleansing Charity" is not ours because it is polluted. That is why we must give it in the cause of the Almighty respectively to: Parents- Relatives- Fatherless children- Needy people- Aliens- The Beggars- Homeless people, who are living on soil or dust- Those who ask for help- Also, near Neighbor, who is a relative- The neighbor who is farther away- Friend who is near you- Debtors. But, those wicked preachers and rabbis changed those verses in those Scriptures and say, "Pay your 10% charities to those Churches and Synagogues" so they could get rich every day. Rejecting this very important Law of our Creator results Disasters through our life. Like lack of health, accidents, losing money, property damages and so on. Just look at the Bible belt area with so many disasters every single year. Do not let those wicked religious leaders rape your heart and soul.

Do you follow the biblical laws for tithing? For example, do you eat it yourself(Deu 14:23) or use it to buy wine and strong drink(Deu 14:26)? Do you use your third year tithe to throw a party for widows, orphans, and Levites who can't own property for crops(Deu 14:28-29)? See Deuteronomy 14: Deu 14:22 Thou shalt truly tithe all the increase of thy seed, that the field bringeth forth year by year. Deu 14:23 And thou shalt eat before the LORD thy God, in the place which he shall choose to place his name there, the tithe of thy corn, of thy wine, and of thine oil, and the firstlings of thy herds and of thy flocks; that thou mayest learn to fear the LORD thy God always. Deu 14:24 And if the way be too long for thee, so that thou art not able to carry it; [or] if the place be too far from thee, which the LORD thy God shall choose to set his name there, when the LORD thy God hath blessed thee: Deu 14:25 Then shalt thou turn [it] into money, and bind up the money in thine hand, and shalt go unto the place which the LORD thy God shall choose: Deu 14:26 And thou shalt bestow that money for whatsoever thy soul lusteth after, for oxen, or for sheep, or for wine, or for strong drink, or for whatsoever thy soul desireth: and thou shalt eat there before the LORD thy God, and thou shalt rejoice, thou, and thine household, Deu 14:27 And the Levite that [is] within thy gates; thou shalt not forsake him; for he hath no part nor inheritance with thee. Deu 14:28 At the end of three years thou shalt bring forth all the tithe of thine increase the same year, and shalt lay [it] up within thy gates: Deu 14:29 And the Levite, (because he hath no part nor inheritance with thee,) and the stranger, and the fatherless, and the widow, which [are] within thy gates, shall come, and shall eat and be satisfied; that the LORD thy God may bless thee in all the work of thine hand which thou doest.

16 times in the Bible, the tithe was mandated by God to be only fruits, vegetables and clean animals. NEVER money, gold, silver, wages or anything else.... NEVER. NOWHERE in the Bible did God ever transfer the ownership of the tithe from the Levite to any apostle, prophet, evangelist, pastor/bishop, teacher, church, religious organization or anyone else..... NOWHERE. “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;” ‭‭2 Timothy‬ ‭4:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬ “Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; NOT grudgingly, OR OF NECESSITY: for God loveth a cheerful giver.” ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭9:7‬ ‭KJV‬‬
