@tigertail29073 жыл бұрын
It depends on the type of scammer. I'm ashamed to say, I used to scam. (I've given the items back and stopped now) There are a bunch of different types of scammers all with different motives, but mine was sort of a bad habit. I got into it, and I then I just couldn't stop. I know, that sounds awful, and it is, but yeah, you're right about some scammers. The other motives I've seen are people scamming as revenge since they got scammed/hacked, scamming for the adrenaline rush, and kids scamming to get rare. But yeah, that's my experience.

I don’t like the saying “they are just pixels” and “be a jammer not a scammer” Saying “they are just pixels” doesn’t really help much, because scammers don’t think of items as pixels, and telling them they are pixels won’t change their opinion, just like if in real life you told someone your opinion that doesn’t mean they will automatically adopt your opinion. Scammers get attachments to certain items, which is why they scam them, probably because they don’t have the time and patience to earn the items themselves, so they leech off others hard work, which might seem greedy, and it is, but us humans almost always think our decisions are right. I don’t have as strong of an opinion for the “be a scammer not a jammer” saying. I think it’s just so popular because it has two main things going for it, the fact that it rhymes and has a good message, the only reason I really dislike this saying is because of the fact that scammers opinions are very hard to change, and literally just telling someone to stop being a scammer is like telling an artist to stop making art. They need to be persuaded more than just being told that “scamming is bad”. I used to scam years ago, of course, I only did it once, and it was when Scamming was much easier than it was nowadays. I wasn’t very malicious at the time (I was 9) and it took me a mental breakdown to stop. I was on the floor in tears. I knew how bad it was, and I think all that buildup just made me lose it, and after that I was too scared to do it again. Anyway, sorry for the mini rant, I hope it was still semi-interesting and didn’t sound like me just being petty for several paragraphs.

I think people scam because they are too lazy to get items, and they really wanna be rare. also someone might become a scammer because they got their items scammed, so they want to get them back, and there is a saying "hurt people, hurt people", so if you hurt someone, the chance is, that they will end up becoming hurtful too. It applies with everything.

Back in 2020, people treated me like trash, and I wanted revenge. So, that's when I scammed a Holly Spiked Collar as well as Galaxy Wings. But, the Holly Spiked Collar was hacked. I gave back the Galaxy Wings (ask CloudyPiez because they're the person I scammed their wings from). Then, the other Jammer was shouting at me to give the spike back, but I told them it was hacked. Not only that but they were actually wearing the exact same spike aswell. I wasn't on KZbin at this point aswell. I pretty much just locked them out my den, until then they hacked me. I was unable to change my password aswell! So, when they were asleep and it was morning for me I quickly traded over my stuff to my unknown spare account until they stopped hacking me. I know that was 1 year ago, but I still regret it. I was treated like a pixel and was ignored WAY MORE after scamming..😥

The way I think about scammers is this: Basically as a pixelated item becomes rare, it becomes more desired. It might become desired because it looks cool. Or it might not even look cool but everyone still recognizes that item as something special. Also so many people want that imagined glorified attention that comes with being rare. The reason why I say it's imagined is because I don't think it's as amazing and as wonderful as people make it out to be. People with a rare item must be harassed by people who'd do anything for those items. I assume there are people who are jealous of people being rare so they probably won't be nice to any rare Jammer or player on Feral. On other older games, I have heard of people's accounts getting hacked just because of a pixelated item that account has. Being Rare can be scary sometimes. It's wonderful being rare and being able to show off but there's a downside to being rare, a very big downside to being rare. I don't think people understand that downside or know about it. They just see the glamour and the glory and they want it. But as an example. If the Halo was challenging to get but affordable in shops and the price was stable and never became more expensive than what it was then I don't think most people would scam for the Halo because in that scenario there isn't that element of desperation and fear which is needed to cause a scammer I think. Because it's at stable price, players might feel that it's a dream item that's more possible to reach. Another example is if the desired item is rare and they probably can't get it from a shop and they probably think it's extremely hard or impossible to get all the stuff to trade for the desired item and might not have the patience to gather items for a year or two to get what they want, they often feel that scamming is the only option. They are probable also aware that as time passes, that desired item will get more and more expensive and more and more impossible. If a person really desires that item knowing all of that and how difficult/ impossible it might be then I'd say that situation would cause some fear and desperation. Desperation is often the cause for scammers I think. Personally, I kind of agree. Scammers aren't exactly bad people. They're desperate and they see scamming as their only option. But then I also think that scammers help the game in a way. If a person is getting desperate enough to scam someone else, then it shows that there's a problem. And that problem is called greed. The problem with greed is that if it gets too bad and too out of hand, it can actually destroy a game. I've seen it happen before. But then a game always needs those more challenging items to keep a player engaged and playing in order to get that item. So it's a bit of a double edged sword really. So long as there are very rare items, there will always be scammers. But if there are more scammers than what there should be then it means there is a problem. This problem might been that things are being traded for too high a value in trades or something like that. And if that's the case then it means that the game will be a nightmare for new players to the game and that won't be too good for the staff or the game itself. Scammers are annoying but I also understand that they're also an essential part of the game.

i was a huge scammer. there was so many videos about me i had to change my username. and i’m here to say that scammers scam for a reason. my reasoning is a little more deeper than other reasons people would scam. i’ll explain down here i had a very shitty childhood. lots of neglect, no validation, not a lot. animal jam was my comfort game. and weird enough, scamming became a coping mechanism to my problems. i was ruthless. got scammed multiple times, got hacked and i still did it. it made me feel like i did something right or i would get validated for having good items. it felt so nice to feel that way. it became something i did everyday. but one day changed that. march 29th 2018 i was in a discord group scamming with some people in there. but right in the middle of it my mom woke up and was asking where my stepdad was. we found him dead in my bathroom. ever since then i can’t scam. i stopped that day. still play animal jam, but i can’t scam anymore. it brings back too much for me. kinda vented a lot but that’s my story on being a scammer. i’m not an awful person like people say scammers are. i was 12 and trying to cope. i’m now 16 and going to therapy for my trauma and i obviously cope differently now

Usually it’s because they’re young and thus their brain is less developed in the frontal lobe of the brain, which is responsible for higher cognitive functions. To list a few: it’s in charge of memory, emotions, impulse control, problem solving, social interaction, and motor function. Of these listed functions, what you see many scammers lack in is impulse control, problem solving, and social interaction coupled with empathy. Simply put, these players lack empathy. Usually once the scammers grow up they learn to understand the weight of their decisions’ effect on others and regret their actions. Sometimes, however, there are situations where development is impaired or damaged. When there’s impairment/damage to the frontal lobe, it causes a failure to respond autonomically to social stimuli. You can see this in sociopathy, psychopathy, narcissism, mania, depression, confabulation, catatonia, perseveration, obsessive compulsions, and schizophrenia. Narcissism, for example, is: “Somebody who is self-obsessed to an extreme degree. This is someone who has a high level of confidence and belief in themselves, but to a very unhealthy and harmful extent-to the point at which it actually distorts their sense of reality about themselves, other people, and the world around them. It can also lead them into manipulative and exploitative behavior, because they will prioritize their own needs above anyone else’s.” (Darrel Turner, forensic psychologist). As soon as you figure this out, you can understand that scamming isn’t always caused by careless children. There are some people who will unfortunately never be able to change their behaviors, and as unrealistic as that seems, I have met many people who exhibit a lack of social awareness and empathy. Some of these people play animal jam, some are even animal jam influencers. There are people like this everywhere, and sometimes the roles they have to contribute to society give them the power to do terrible things. It’s pretty much everywhere, you don’t have to look very far to find people like this. Let’s just remember that people with frontal lobe impairment never asked to have this mental handicap, treating them the way they may treat you is ineffective and cruel. Treat people with kindness and understanding, and if that doesn’t work, just don’t interact. It’s that simple.
@enderwalkgang2 жыл бұрын
Or there just older players who are taking advantage of younger players. It's not rocket science, and it's kinda ablest to call it a mental handicap.
@heartsandtarts2 жыл бұрын
@@enderwalkgang Well yeah, sure, that can be a possibility. There would clearly be something wrong with said older player, as I’ve stated. Of course there are other ways for a completely normal person to demonstrate psychopathic or narcissistic behavior, which comes down to nature vs nurture: it’s the idea that a subject is raised to behave or think in a certain way. It could be from the parents or lack there of, people could be raised on constant pampering from their guardians and believe that they deserve things despite the objects of their desire being in another’s possession. People could be neglected and never learn the values of right and wrong, and where to draw the line. Many people play this game at very young ages, which means they are vulnerable to suggestion; easily teachable. They could learn these habits from their own friends, or copy from people who stole from them. The thing is, everyone has a reason for doing something, and sometimes it does come down to conscious decision. The selfishness of humanity is not rooted in disorders alone, it’s instinctual. It is our conscious ability to control these urges that matter the most.
@enderwalkgang2 жыл бұрын
@@heartsandtarts Ok, 1. Psychopath and Sociopath are both outted psychology terms, the correct term is antisocial personality disorder. You can also be a good person and being a antisocial or narcissist, stop generalizing personality disorders, that's strait up ablest and generally makes you morally worse. Only a small percent of the antisocial population are actually bad people. 2. People are putting themselves as scammers and confirming they knew it was wrong but did it anyways, because revenge being the common factor, a concept based on morality. They weren't entitled, they arent neglected children running around, 3. Your psuedo intellectual Bs about humanity is just gross, based on an incell ablest mindset, reeks of inscerity like you scammed and are a scammer, but felt bad and are trying to justify it like it can't be helped 😊🥺😥 it's just human nature to be a bad person UwU look how smart I am, when in reality you sound like an ablest asshole and over all an incell who only speaks in paragraphs because it thinks it makes their psuedoscience B's sound smarter and further gives the impression that you think I'm less likely to check it thoroughly. 4. There's another reason why people scam and it's where their not actually scamming inrentially but people around them are quick to assume because their under paying on purpose when it's not intentional. 5. No it seriously looks like your trying to compensate for something with psuedo intellectual and it's borderline funny, if it wasn't for the ablism. Mentally disabled abled people don't all have busted moral compass, that seriously albist. And further more if it's just human nature, there there's no reason to make the attempt to connect it to mental illness or mental disorders, especially stigmatized ones with negative stereotypes, if it's just human nature then it's just ablest to assume then they HAVE to be neurodivergent if humans are, by default, greedy. A scammer could actually have no mental issues at all and being a morally kind hearted person and still scam on the internet. Why? Because of the fact it's a screen, they only ever see the avatars of the people they are scamming not the actual people, and that creates a disconnect because the human brain is built with face to face in person human reaction and interaction in mind, to blame it on mental illness for this behavior, but then say it's basically default human nature is disingenuous at best, as it's contridicts itself, and forgets this behavior occurs in an online space where you can't see a honest reflection of how people are truely reacting.
@enderwalkgang2 жыл бұрын
@@heartsandtarts Why do your assumptions contridicts itself? You say it's default human nature and then shift to blame to a personality disorder only small number of the population has. Here's my scam story: I was in Gabby's animal hospital, I was my viper. And I saw this one person that said '' 1K SAPPHIRE GIVAWAY COME TO ME DEN!!! '' everyone in the server said: '' its a scam '' but I said '' don't worry. I'm a detective. '' I went to their den AND there were so many ppl there. Then the owner came and said '' whoever first bought the fastest wins! '' then the owner put garbage in the shop for 50 gems. I had a feeling that they.. Were actually sapphires the whole time. I didn't buy but everyone did. Then the owner kicked us out. The ppl said they got scammed. I feel bad for the people. This. Is my whole scam story. I subscribed to you leamon puppy :3 ❤❤❤

I've never scammed because i have been scammed before. When i was new to the game, i got a pet sugar glider, my dream pet, which took me 3 months to get and my "bff" scammed me lol she was a jealous person and she had many gliders and good pets. But, later on she got scammed off one of her gliders, and now she knows how it feels. I never scam anyone because i know how terrible people feel when they lose something that was precious to them. Even if that means pixels.

When i was really young, maybe 9 years old, i was friends with someone named thundercat3. My other friend who i will just call NA had given me a green long spiked collar and thunder told me that it was worth i think a pair of farie wings. I believed them because i had no idea what anything was worth, and i dont remember how i found out it was a lie, but i did and i cried. NA found out and tried to help me get it back because we were all friends, but thunder said it was their spike and i had mine and i was just trying to steal theirs. NA couldnt get it back for me and thunder unfriended me and locked me out. Im not sure how it went between them and NA or if thunder locked them out too, but i recently reconnected with NA years later and they said they didnt blame me and werent upset about me losing it, they just gave in and knew there was nothing either of us could do. I also got a red long years later and traded it for another green one. I know red ones were worth more than green, at least i think they were, but i just wanted the green one back cause i still felt bad for losing the one NA gave me

One time, I was chilling in the sapphire shop, this random owl (Kawaiicookiecute11, don’t worry, she’s banned now) anyways she said if you put your ice dragon wings in your shop for 1000 sapphires or something I’ll bye it, and I said I don’t have a shop. Then she canceled the trade and messaged me and said what is your dream item? Then I said double tail. Then she reapplied my cousin ruby has one if you don’t trade me now, she won’t trade me. Then, I tried to reply can she trade it to you first then I trade u. But she already replied and said ok trade me. I traded her the wings for free then unbuddied my right after, I was crying.

as an ex-scammer (on aj classic), theres a couple things that go into it 1. rarity. obviously this is the big one; people want rares, and scamming is probably the most efficient way to get rares. other methods such as profit trading only work if you get lucky, and they take ages even if you do get extremely lucky- so any player who hasnt been around since the early days but still wants rare items, especially with certain items raising higher and higher in worth and demand every day and becoming more and more unobtainable, is pretty much going to need to resort to something like buying/scamming/hacking/etc. in order to get the items of their dreams. scamming happens to be free unlike buying, and much easier/less likely to get you banned than hacking. some people also choose to sell this rarity, meaning that scamming can actually make a fair bit of irl money for you; in fact, ive even seen scammers selling their items as a sort of side-job thing, buying items they want irl and even using that money to pay bills and put food on the table. 2. it quickly becomes addicting. scamming can actually be incredibly fun once you start to make a habit out of it. for most scammers ive interacted with as well as myself, initially you feel bad after the first couple times you scam and it isnt that fun. but once you do it a few more times you can become extremely desensitized and disoriented with what youre actually doing, and it becomes a bit of a game and challenge. scamming takes skill and time, it isnt as easy and quick as a lot of people think it is. however, it is much easier and quicker than any other methods. scamming gives you the same rush as you get when you open that gift box in the forgotten desert and hope its a solid. (or in the case of ajpw, ig like, checking to see what your pets brought back from their expedition hoping its a dna vial?). except the rewards can range into massive amounts. its fun challenging yourself to see just how much you can get, while also not pushing too far that someone stops trading and you end up with nothing at all. 3. last but not least, it can actually be an amazing way to make friends. the scamming community can be extremely toxic (obviously, its full of thiefs), but it can also be extremely wholesome and you can meet lots of people and make seriously long-lasting friendships from it. as mentioned in the video, "double team" scams are very popular, but most of these scammers dont actually use 2 accounts. instead, theres a "host", the main contributor to a scam, and a "helper" who helps the host seem more legit. for example, i did "flash" scams, so my helper would pretend to trade me items to bump the "winning" amount higher and higher, pushing the target to trade more and more. you can end up making some amazing friendships with helpers/if you help. my best friends and significant other i all met through scamming (in fact, i even ended up best friends with someone i SCAMMED, funny story). the point is, theres a lot of reasons why people scam, and i dont think it makes anyone a "bad person". some of the scammers ive met are wonderful and giving people, believe it or not; some of the best and kindest human beings ive met are scammers/ex-scammers.

Got scammed story time! Once I was playing aj and randomly found a person saying if someone wanted ajpw items for aj items, and then I said yes, turns out she gave me forests and then I gave her a black long for it, (it didn't matter to me because I gave around like 20 black longs in less than a week because aj gave me a mag tiara). Then I was pretty confident with doing cross trades, I start asking if someone wants aj stuff for ajpw stuff in ajpw. Then this rare person came to me and said "me". Later on I get his/her discord, then I wanted to give her/him blue hd, shark tail, and my silver party hat for just the white bowtie since it was my dream, I knew I was way over and sometimes he said fishy stuff. Then later on the night I started thinking that if this was a red flag, but no, I just ignored the fact she/he said fishy stuff.. Next day comes and we do the cross trade, he seems to accept in ajpw the first trade and in the second time he didn't and left the game, and ofc, he scammed my blue hd, shark tail, and silver party hat. When I did get scammed I just felt barely like guiltiness on myself, I just asked and asked why did I do that, I just felt nothing I was just so mad at myself, later on I am starting to get over it, and I just want to make sure I don't want to be scammed anymore, Hope you liked the story on how I got scammed.

i was a scammer myself * on animal jam classic * since i didn't know about ajpw at the time. i had a best friend who i scammed because she gave me items like a golden bunny, black spike, red spike etc, to save so she can give it to her friend. but i scammed her by unfriending her. i don't know why i did that to be honest. i was about 8-9 years old and im 13 now so looking back on that really made me feel bad. well yes i ended up getting my peacock wings scammed which i traded a golden bunny and a spike collar for. so yeah i guess it made me change but after i got scammed i quit aj classic and found ajpw which i played for 2-3 years now, and i got circling phantoms * in black * blackout wings, 2 cute colored lizzards, and etc on my ajpw account. this time i WORKED for my items and i also got nice friends, please do not scam people like i use to and that was like my first time actually scamming somebody so yeah don't scam cause you don't know how hard people worked for the stuff Edit: ALSO please don't put rares over your friends like i did because pixels aren't worth as much as a good friend is

I got scammed out of 5 blackout spikes, I used to collect them and then this bunny offered me a rare feather tail and a designer skirt. I accepted the trade but then my buddy said that they were actually the rim version of them, I remember being so sad and then I found this artic wolf with highest duel sword on trade. I offered them the rim designer skirt saying it was worth default arch and they fell for it.. I felt so sad because Ive just scammed someone...my sister was a very big scammer back in the days and back then we cared about each other so she scammed a blackout spike for me.. She has quit ajpw and told me she won't be scamming again but not because she's changed her ways or anything sweet like that she said she stopped cuz she was hacked by lavapops101 and couldn't be bothered to scam anymore.

I completely agree. But the ones who post their scams as videos on youtube is a different story imo. When i comment on these videos and tell them to stop cause it's promoting it to children, they literally expose themselves and say they dont care about ppls feelings and are aware of what they're doing and do it to sell the items for real life money or something else. They're usually very salty and mean back to people who try to talk sense into them. I tell them they'll regret what they're doing and they'll be extremely rude back towards me.

I’d like to bring to light the reasoning for scamming. I am a scammer on ajpw and I’m not going to lie and say that I used to do it. I do it still. I’m writing this comment purely to say why we do it, so anyone who is confused on why or how will know. I started scamming after someone else scammed me. I was very sad (I got scammed of green myth) but after a few months I thought I should try it out to see why they did it. I’ve been scamming for around a year now. The reason for scamming isn’t because I want to get items easier. Because honestly, that’s what most of the community thinks. Scamming is very hard and there are a lot of smart people out there who figure it out. It may take over 3 hours some nights just to get a decent scam out of someone. The reasoning behind scamming is to get items without having to get rid of the ones you already have. And I know that doesn’t justify that it’s taking away other people’s items. Truly though, it’s me who starts to scam. I set it up. But it’s also the jammers choice to press the accept button. I tell them they get something from me if they do this or that, and it’s their decision to believe me. When they do choose to trust me, they end up learning not to do it again. They get scammed, and learn to be more skeptical. I understand that’s not an excuse for scamming. All I’m saying is they will get scammed out of something but they aren’t going to get much more taken away when they learn not to do x y and z. I don’t scam because I think it’s fun, or because it’s the easiest way out. I scam because it’s the most efficient way of getting rarer in the aj community. If anyone has questions that I didn’t talk about here feel free to ask me.
@sosopwsi829Jjw93 жыл бұрын
As a former scammer, the REAL reasons are: 1. AJ's caste system is based on rarity. It gets really hard when your friends leave but nobody wants to friend you unless you're rare. 2. It is impossible to get rare, and "it's just pixels" is nonsense. This isn't 2015. 2B. I can't "Work for it" because I have a life and my parents would never allow me to play AJ that long. 3. "Trading up" makes no sense. It is literally mini-scamming in which you take someone's higher worth item and give them your lower-worth item. 3B. And people will just accuse you of scamming anyway. 4. This game is only fun if you're rare

I think the one time I ever scammed someone was when I had a green tiara on trade and someone traded me a Shark Cage thinking that it was a beta tiara. I honestly felt so bad after that but I couldn't remember their username to give it back later 😅 I still have it after all these years. On the flip side, I've been scammed a LOT. I think the biggest amount I lost to one person was when I traded items to play on someone's spare member account. That was the last time I got scammed cuz I was so upset losing my glitched yeti mask and a few other items with it. Before that, I also got scammed out of my first spiked wrist by a friend who claimed she got scammed and then asked me if she could have all my stuff if I quit AJ (that hurt a lot) and then I became friends with another scammer only because she scammed some rares from me and I was hoping to get on her soft side to give them back. But she just tried to get me to help her scam others instead which I didn't (I just told them via Jamagrams not to trade them by saying "No" since I was nm so I couldn't explain further when the scene played out)

As someone who used to scam I did it because I was hella unrare and was jealous of people that were soo much rarer than me 🥲 I would even “work” with other scammers and we’d split the items that were scammed for both of us. And DAYUM a lot of scammers’ main accounts were RARE... seeing that just motivated me to scam more. At the end of the day I ended up getting 1 red long and 1 purple long that I traded for my first ever black long. . Then I kinda got bored and stopped scamming LoL Nowadays I just do art or play tfd for rares 😋 moral of the story don’t trust anybody on AJ even if they’re ur bsf(unless it’s irl, u can beat them up for scamming you😂)

I think a GIGANTIC scam is when ppl say it’s their birthday and ask for free stuff like pet sugar gliders and spikes even when it’s actually any random day, and although I do realize some jammers are not pretending I think it’s kind of rude to ask for free items from other jammers that worked very hard or did lots of trading up to get those exact items.

I personally don't agree with what you said about Scammers Leamon Puppy. I think scammers make Animal Jam straight up terrible but that's just me :P. Most scammers have the mentality that people who are "stupid" enough to fall for their tricks deserve what happened to them. It's the kind of mentality that is very similar in people who deal drugs. It's not the kind of mentality I'd encourage, but in best-case scenario, I do like scammers that change and turn a new leaf, I'd encourage that. I know everyone is their own person inside but that doesn't justify it's okay that they're lying and deceiving to get what they want. That's just my thoughts though

Once someone tried to scam one of my rare items (can't remember which) by putting a beta item (teal forest) on their trade (this item was way rarer than the item I had on trade). After this, they added guest jammer items like princess necklace and cowboy hat and these items took up a couple of pages so I couldn't see the forest gauntlets anymore. When they were finished adding the items, they took away the teal forest from the trade and accepted. When they did this they quickly accepted. I knew something was fishy so I checked the trade again and saw that they took away the forest. So I cancelled and never saw the jammer again.

Be a Jammer, not a scammer." and then they left. felt better after apologizing to them before they left.

My "found a scammer" protocol right now is 1. report them 2. Warn others, but make sure they don't receiver harassment or are attacked. Best thing people can do is quietly report. No jammer should be harassed, or attacked, but it's not right to let people scam others without doing anything about it.

It’s so sad to get scammed bc you worked hard for your scammed item and you need to start new, trade up, which is very difficult. Like your video leamonpuppy the jammers are toxic and they are only caring ’bout rares and betas... they are only speaking with rare people. When I was rare, everyone spoke with me. But I got scammed with ancient dragon hat, ethereal armor, crystal things for the legs, much pets, and much more beta. One time I got scammed with Rainbow spiked collar and the scammer was a KZbinR 0_0. I got scared when she said she has a yt channel and that’s is honestly true. I worked hard for all these items.
