@andresvalverde51823 жыл бұрын
@Truffs Also don't forget to slowly increase the weight to your desired one rep max percentage. I almost popped my biceps when i went for the 6 reps with maximum weight and had cramping forearms instantly. Don't forget to do warmups.
@8Rider63 жыл бұрын
@Truffs Injury prevention, recovery work, etc is such a major additional time investment beyond just typical warmups, training and stretching. To commit that level to it I think you really have to make it your primary or one of your main focuses in your life. Many people don't want to invest that much into it, but after a certain age it's almost necessary to keep making progress. So that more or less means you make it one of your main focuses, or you back off to a level that's acceptable to you and your overall health. If it's not something you either make money from or are just extremely passionate about, it doesn't make sense for most people to invest that much time into.

Powerlifting and bodybuilding is like toast and butter. They're a perfect combo, you can do a 12-16 week cycle focusing on strength and you get a little bulk then do a 12-16 week cut and have more muscle than last time and they both work.

2 years with good influences I would assume you’re at intermediate already
@TheBcoolGuy3 жыл бұрын
@@areyoutheregoditsmedave Yeah. It's alright to spend a month cutting down a bit for the summer, but you should not be trying to be lean before you're at least well into intermediate. My rows are almost advanced, my DL almost intermediate, but my bench is still solidly novice. like 92 kg. This is according to strengthlevel's calculator.
@AngryOscillator2 жыл бұрын
@@TheBcoolGuy Why should you not try and get lean? What do you mean by lean? Sub 10%? If you're goal is to build muscle and you aren't running gear then no one wants to be sub 10%, aside from a few genetic freaks perhaps. And are you talking about powerlifting or bodybuilding? Because a 92kg bench could EASILY see you through to intermediate bodybuilding, if not perhaps advanced, assuming ROM and technique is on point. Also for bodybuilding if anyone is going to make gains while being lean it IS the beginner, because everything makes them grow. Powerlifting I know little about

John, I started out as a bodybuilder, now I’ve been a powerlifter for 3 years, now I should go back to just bodybuilding because I’ve discovered over the years that powerlifting is just strength training, power=strength hint hint; my shoulders were/are not gaining size and one of the guys is right about the sets and reps in bodybuilding you can do more.

I haven't seen a lot of powerlifters make the journey to bodybuilding. Not true bodybuilding anyways. And I mean, why would they? It's all around a much harder sport to become decent in. Would you rather do 405 for 20, or 4 sets of 5? Would you rather be able to mostly eat what you want, or have a very restrictive diet? Would you rather have more time with friends and family, or less?
