The Bond Experience

Күн бұрын

Living the Bond Lifestyle has become one of the fastest growing aspects to Bond fandom. Whether it's Bond's wardrobe, food, locations, experiences, or even his mannerisms, it seems as if any age group or background can find moments of lifestyle connections to 007. But WHY has the Bond Lifestyle become such a prevalent part of how we enjoy James Bond? In this video we attempt to answer those very questions!
#jamesbond #007 #thebondexperience
_________________________________________________________________________________
When David is not running an advertising and marketing company, his hobby is The Bond Experience which is primarily a video blog where he discusses Bond experiences and the people and brands that help to create those experiences...
The mantra of living like Bond, one moment at a time emanates from a concept of experiencing the joy of collecting small moments in life that add up to amazing journeys and stories....whether it's through style, locations, literature, fitness, and the movies themselves the world of Bond is explored through its people and their stories.
Ultimately though, The Bond Experience channel is a celebration of the James Bond franchise and the many people that form a true community. Our core mission is to create a strong connection in the Bond community amongst all the fans, regardless of interest or demographic.

The best aspect I would like to borrow from James Bond is the attitude, the reaction to adversity. It can't be bought.

Of all the fictional properties out there - many of which I like - the James Bond IP is the one with the biggest applicability in real life. If you remove the heightned reality features of being Bond (the constant risk of death, the dangerous impossible feats of escapism, the serialized entanglement with exotic women), Bond is about having a confident, "in-control" attitude towards adversity, towards risk and how one positions himself in society "like an actual man". It's not the muscles, the political position or the odds that make you as a man. In fact he's never the biggest guy, the most wealthy or socially powerful individual or even the one with the most destructive weaponry, despite the gadgets. It's an ever-present desire to defeat said odds through wit and ingenuity, taking advantage of opportunities and resources at your disposal, and to pursue a legitimate goal and come out on top in style (whenever possible). The sartorial side of it is as important as everything else in Bond, if not even a little bit more. It is an external manifestation of control, of keeping composure and being efficient. It doesn't mean you must wear those specific, expensive clothes or accessories, but rather you should take control of yourself impeccably, both inside and outside. Without being consumed by how well-kept your appearance is, but always striving to give a sophisticated, professional, socially-knowledgeable look.

Growing up I had no heroes only good people exacpt for media like the Bond movies my Grandpa had... So I decided to make one from all the fictional heroes I knew and that was a more mature me. And thinking about that me who is who I role played as with friends and in video games then stared in my original media and now over a dacade later I'm becoming that man and I have taken many traits from James Bond mainly the ever prepared and never panic bits. So yeah I live the Bond life style even though I haven't watched a bond movie in years.

I have to swipe a card and enter a PIN to enter the building where I work, and I punch in the numbers the same way Craig does when he enters 'ELIPSIS' on the keypad at the Miami airport in Casino Royale.

I think the core of what Bond movies do is they raise men’s standards in life, which leads to a higher quality of living: Relationships, health, business and career, and luxury adventure. Really living. not just existing.

Loved this video, gents. To answer the title: I am aware, and I think many of us, that we cannot compete with Bond in terms of coolness. We will not defeat the world's greatest threat on a sattalite or walk on crocodile's backs. However, with al these little moments it does feel like we can do it. Perhaps we even believe that we can. Dressed as Bond or inspired by him, let's imagine what will happen if suddenly we are asked to assist on a secret mission. We are prepared, because at least we're dressed like our hero, James Bond. And of course we won't, but we can do our best to be as attractive as possible in our own lives. Like you mentioned, open a door for a woman or ask if someone at your table would like some water. In the end Bond's job exists to help/save others, maybe in greater extent than us simple mortals, but also we can still help.

For me, it is simply about immersing myself in Fleming's novels as much as possible, because it brings them to life for me. I own both a Gillette and a Hoffritz razor, a Beretta 418, a Walther PPK and a Rolex watch. I have sampled many of the drinks and meals that Bond drinks and eats in the novels (this is an ongoing project) and visited a few of the locations from them (though not nearly as many as I would like). I no longer smoke, but I do remember what the various different tobacco blends mentioned in the novels are like. I don't do this out of some wish to actually be James Bond, but to add the experience of reading the books. For example, when Bond sips an Americano, I know exactly what that tastes like, so it adds an extra dimension to the experience of reading the novel. It's also good fun, because I get to try out things that I probably wouldn't otherwise have tried.

Great video! Its not always about the Aston Martin or even emulating the character of Bond. It's about being your own man in the fashion of James Bond.

Every time I organize my room, I do it like Bond in Dr. No when he's sticking the hair strand to the closet doors and putting dust on the briefcase; I like that sort of simple detective kind of Bond style. I also felt like Bond in the "shocking" scene when I killed a spider that came out of the holes in the sink. I took out that spider like a spy, but I felt so bad afterwards. I hate killing spiders because they're actually nice creatures. When it comes to opening doors though, I like to pretend I'm using the force on automatic doors. It's the simple things really.

We look up to Bond and with Daniel Craig in particular, they created a very basic fashion style that a person with zero fashion sense could emulate as a great introduction to a look that works on any guy. You can find blue polos, chukka boots and chino colored pants and even dive watches at every high and low end pricing depending on your range. Same with the Shawl collar cardigan and Harrington style jackets. Like Luke I was already wearing that stuff from Banana Republic. Eventually I escalated to Orlebar Brown as my career fit those price points. And the look works internationally. You can travel anywhere in Bond fashion and not look like a typical American.

Simple-for me it was his upbringing and history, Bond was an orphan/adopted, and through sheer will and perseverance became the class act and super spy we know. His tale and past experiences resonate with me and is why he is so iconic.

I think the lifestyle of Bond as kind of guidance from a fictional father figure. You can watch, and read, Bond...and these habits, tastes, and gentlemanly traits are demonstrated. As we would say in the Army, "once you see right, you never forget how to do it."

We should remember that actors today get a little chemical assistance in addition to their training regimens. Additionally, when they plan a shirtless scene, they will dehydrate for more definition.

Playing the reindeer games too, I go to confidence and how one carries themself. That, for me, is the perfect addition to any outfit. Standing up straight, being a gentleman, knowing your surroundings as Luke mentioned. These are the things that nail it all, the clothing is just the polish on the paint that makes it look that much better.

Regarding terms: "Sprezzatura"; regarding books: Castiglione's _The Book of the Courtier_. One might also give a nod to a magazine, that wonder of the late 1950s: _Playboy_, which from time to time featured Fleming's writing.

I don't think you can appreciate the Bond moments as fully unless you put some hardship in your life, ideally in a capacity that serves others. Military reserve service is amazing for that. It's not the reason I do it, but it does make you appreciate moments that much more...

A couple of points worth noting: 1. It's a lifestyle, not cosplay. 2. Bond has a life outside of the scenes shown in the movies. Between the scenes, or even between two movies the Bond story continues. So even an outfit that never appears on screen can still be a Bond outfit.
