So many fry thrive in green water algae filled tanks. That's where you find them in nature. If you want to breed healtyh fry, let the tank go wild. I'm so glad you share these experiences with folks. 👍❤️👍

Embrace the Swamp. I let my new tank swampify as part of processing out excess nutrients. All that natural processing _keeps_ the minerals in the system, longer than if I had water-chaned it to death👍

I was having trouble with what I assume was spot algae even though I filled up the tank with about 7 different species of algae eaters. Then when I put in some frogbit for a top plant and a hide for babies all the algae disappeared. I am curious if you think it might also out compete the hair algae? Great video by the way. I love that you are working on trying things a different way than most people think you have to do.
@LRBaquatics
@LRBaquatics Жыл бұрын
Thanks! and Yes plants can out compete the algae. Whatever excess that spot algae was growing on must of gotten consumed by the frogbit. Frogbit being a fast grower helps speed up the process. Slow growing plants usually are prone to collecting algae since they have the opposite effect. Ive also seen bacopa fight biofilm over night. Many aquarium plants we have even hold medicinal values and much more.

Great video, my 75 gal has turned cloudy but there's not a lot of fish in the tank so what else could cause it when I have 3 of each in the tank, zebra danio's, mollies nerite snails Cory albino catfish & plenty of plant's through out the tank & haven't done anything to in a month.

@@LRBaquatics even with a ugf? cause the substrate is pea gravel & a thick layer of river rock that what ever decides to have fry can. I do feed freeze dried shrimp in powder & pellets that may be the culprit, but it's cleaning up now.

You need some amano shrimp for tanks you don't want the green blobs of hair algae. I barely maintenence my tanks other than water changes every 10-14 days. The algae does look cool in that second tank!
@LRBaquatics
@LRBaquatics Жыл бұрын
They can help but they arent good for breeding tanks since they can eat eggs too. Plus would need a ton of them for all my algae lol. Algae the most universal plant and is welcome in my fish room. Many have asked to buy it I may just have to make a listing for it someday. I have kept amanos and they are good to use like scuds to salvage plants that may have been over run by algae. I have also seen amanos dig and tunnel in my dirted tanks. There was some stuff in it they must have loved cause they turned all the dirt upside down. It was pretty wild.

Can you tell me about the black hard algae covering the glass? I have heard about the po4 and now wondering if that's why I have been having bad growth. I was keeping it because I like how it was covering the back glass
@LRBaquatics
@LRBaquatics Жыл бұрын
Not entirely sure what you mean without a pic. Also hard to tell with nutrient deficiencies since a lot of plants get what they need from water change. Bad growth can often come from the lighting and lack of water changes. Plants love water changes because of the reoxygenation.

Hey LRB I'm interested to know in the first tank with hair moss.. how do you get it to grow so thick and cover most areas of the tank ?
@LRBaquatics
@LRBaquatics Жыл бұрын
It grows over time feeding off decaying material like plant leaves, detritus, fish food, poop, and more. By not doing water changes the oxidation doesnt break it up so it grows and grows. Strong light helps as well.

It would be nice to her your comment ,how to prevent rotten egg smell that can happen when starting your first filter free tank,
@LRBaquatics
@LRBaquatics Жыл бұрын
Usually sulphur gives that smell. If your tanks smells and it’s not your well water or water source that smells then something is wrong. Filter free tanks shouldn’t smell bad if anything they should have more earthy smell. Sometimes things that die or decay can cause a smell? Hard to tell without knowing more on your situation
@LRBaquatics
@LRBaquatics Жыл бұрын
Water change should help. Dilution takes care of problems like that Or find the culprit that caused the smell.

That’s a great question. They come from a multitude of places but just from the air and mana around us holds a lot of life we to not usually think of. You can get a bucket of water and put it outside and life will find a way. It’s wild.

@@LRBaquatics I was tolkning to them about making a video for them. I mean I bought 3 big Fluval 2.0, and 7 Fx6 filters within 3 years. And A Fluval Edge. This was waaay back when I got 10x the watchtime. But I am always honest, so I compare their Fluval 2.0 so German Made Juwel Helialux. That video got 10 000 views in 5 days. Which was a lot when I had 2300 subs. But the Juwel is stronger and has better spread. And you got more LEDś för the same money. 😄 I am always on the Fisklovers side. So I do not think I can ever do a video unless I really love it for sure, or like I am doing soon. Working with the Pondguru. And he wants me to be honest. Perfect match. 🫠
