This is such a great teaching series! I'm about a year into having my eyes opened. Christ Jesus had a complete victory at Calvary. So many verses prove. Grace and Peace John!

This is very helpful. I wrote about these ideas and others that I knew would be challenging to most evangeluxal Christians ( which is my church) and only about 1 in 10 that I sent it to even replued or asked questions about it. My pastors made absolutely no respinse at all. I have been asking myself why because I poyred so much into it and it was the result of 7 years of contemplation that I had in my quest to po der a deepky relevant gospel. My conclusion is that for many reasons you articulated most Christians are very comfortable in their belief in a very small God. Honestly I am finding it increasingly difficult to have any real fellowship with those with such an attitude. It's like most Christians aren't actually interested in spiritual things as long as their names are written in the book of life which they are quite comfortable in assuming because they prayed the magic prayer. Oh how our narcissistic culture kills vision.

Thank You John for highlighting this GREAT topic 👍👍 If You want to deal with another topic we haven't been taught in church is biblical cosmology When You look at word definitions You may see something different Gen 1:6 firmament Heb raquia-a solid vault supporting waters above. Similar to this definition is circle in Is 40:22 Heb hug-a arch or vault used 3x end of verse 22 as a tent to dwell in. I believe in Gen chapter 1 God said the lights are the timepiece and is what is moving not earth. That goes along with Joshua 10 where the sun and moon stood still for about a day. Only lights in the heavens are talked about moving in the Bible It describes earth as immovable. On pillars and foundations. Rev 20:9 breadth has been translated by some as broad plane. Interesting I think because are we going to believe what God says about creation or what are government has taught us. Look forward to going through all Your videos. Thank You

John, could you explain more about how money is made by employing an exclusionary gospel? I am blanking on that but find it fascinating. Is it because denominations or teachers can claim they have the truth that will help people avoid hell, so it is fear based? Selling more books and seats because people are desperate to avoid punishment? That’s the only thing I can come up with. I’ve certainly noticed that fear and power seem to be primary motivators in many expressions of today’s American church….

I’m not John, but I’ll give your question a shot. I think what it boils down to the general sentiment that when a person recognizes in himself a capacity and longing for forgiveness, he would prefer it to be uniquely and specially conferred upon him. When forgiveness is advertised to him as a universal phenomenon and not as one local to his own psyche, the activity of Christ seems almost inauspicious to him. He expects his forgiveness to be recognized as something special in and of itself, rather than its speciality arising out of the uniqueness of Christ to whom he and the rest of the cosmos are being reconciled.

This is the topic of Richar Rohr's book about the Cosmic Christ, or Universal Christ.
@JohnChaffeeTalks11 ай бұрын
And Rohr is just building off of the work of Maximus the Confessor in that!

Richard Rohr has also said he believes that Christianity, after 2000 years is still in its infancy. I think maybe it's more like pre-school.@@JohnChaffeeTalks
