I like the simplicity of the old 1st and 3rd class system. Rather than the confusing infinate word sallad of ticket types we have now.

Fascinating stuff! Though I cannot speak for rail travel, regarding the similar experience of air travel based on recent experience, I definitely prefer the certainty and old fashioned reliability of a paper ticket rather than relying on dodgy apps and e-mail links on phones that can leave you stranded should your battery die.

It can be panic inducing if you go out for the day, drain your battery, and then have no ticket for the return journey!

@@FoxfieldRailwayOfficial Indeed. Especially when your phone is old and has a battery life of only a few hours if you don't use it or sometimes less than an hour if you do.

I knew that about booking a ticket. 😁 If only I could remember how I knew? Instead of the simple Edmondson ticket, you now get 4 tickets and a receipt. 😋 I prefer card tickets because my phone loses data when I'm out and the app doesn't work.

Thank you for this nice video. Did you ever had tickets the size and weight of a computer punched [ en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punched_card ] card in UK?
